I really like the fact that rounds are shorter because well...you know....they are hitting each other with WEAPONS! It makes the fight seem like a real sword fight. It would seem there is more of a comeback chance as well.
Your talking as rounds in SC4 were too long...

I think that due to the pace of SC4, a b03 for example would take years to finish. If SC5 retains a faster overall pace as well as a slight increase in damage across the board, the game will be much more entertaining to play/watch I think.
 
Well, I really like everything I see so far. I like that new meter, though I don't agree that it should be filled when the character is blocking, the speed of the moves is great and I adore the fact that they removed that equipment destruction!! One thing that I've noticed and I didn't really like, is that the moves actually do more damage and that equals to very guick rounds. All in all, most of the changes are awesome, but we've got to think that the game is still under development and more changes will come!!!
 
as much as i don't want to comment about the translator.. i can't help it...
i wonder if there's no one else around that can speak english better... the translator is obviously japanese.. maybe people should start applying for a translator job at bandainamcojapan. it could be a good start for your continuing career in developing SC ^_^

on topic.. i really like how they change ivy back to the way she was a long time ago.. i had to drop her recently because her moves are just too troublesome to master, it's easier to learn two characters altogether than learning ivy..

the speed has improved so it's a good thing.. but am still not sure about the gauge implementation.. hope it will turn out okay....
 
Fuck... I just got home and off my shitty company-issue laptop (which can't do flash vids) and yeah... I'd love to help on the translation, but they've dubbed over his voice.

The translator isn't a translator by trade. She's one of the product managers on the game who happens to speak English. I was with them during this; however, I had a separate task and couldn't join in for the GS interview. Either way, cut her some slack; I'm sure she got in most of what he said and as an attractive girl, she isn't used to communicating with netnerds.
 
Yeah you guys should use the colour of the weapon arc to determine who's being replaced.

Faster gameplay with higher damage output in a quick KO round, will leave spectators wondering what happen. I think what will make people get hype, is a revamp combo system or just "ultra moves" with animation cutscene. Look at MvC3. Every tourney I go to, people go crazy after a super combo.

That is such an utterly terrible set of ideas, I have no clear way to properly express myself.

Well I gotta admit, don't like the fact that they added a meter at all, but 'progress' blah blah ><

I think it just bugs me because you're taking a lot of the spirit out of the game then. There are a million games with really open systems that allow for long combos, and there are a thousand games that have flashy cinematic supers. The combos I think are actually a detriment (given that rant before, they value labtime vs actually playing others, and make the game substantially more lag-sensitive), and cinematic supers can really break the flow. SC5 essentially has supers with camera angle changes in the version we're seeing now. Making them more cutscene-y would just slow everything down.

Ouch! kind hurt to hear I'm helping taking the spirt out of the game. I'm going off from past Soul Caliburs. I'm trying to think of ideas to get people excited about SC5. If that petition for SC5 was started, we wouldn't have a SC5. SC is my favorite fighting game, and I hate the idea of them not making anymore. Don't look at it as "Ultras". Look at it as "Cooler Attack Throws" Like Mina's :3::A::+::B: :at:

I think I'm actually way more stuck on 'revamping the combo system' than 'making flashy supers'. The latter are probably coming anyways, its an easy way to add quick excitement.

I think the situation is different now than it was with SC4 (they seem more interested in making a real game, they learned from some of the really bad mistakes in 4, and the market is a lot friendlier to fighters in general), and they don't need to copy SF and Marvel to keep it going :p

People have written whole essays about why SC4 ran into problems, and they don't seem particularly related to 'flash'.
 
LOL yea, "Flash" isn't the best gimmick. I will just put my faith in the Fan & the creative minds behind to game to me (us) the fighter that we all want.

just as long as I can go to a tournament, and not have people pack up and leave after the SSF4 and MvC3 tourney is over, I'll be happy
