SC5 'Ivy' Story/Possibilities/Speculation

I wonder if they'll implement some attack with the left hand stings. Doesn't seem too unlikely. Maybe she needs to absorb some Alchemic Juice from people in order to heep her running.

Maybe we should create an "official" (8WR) SCV Ivy whishlist and then send the link to Daishi. For me personally the priority would be to send him some ideas on how to balance certain moves.

hey im back, daishi is either too busy to reply or he just hasnt bothered,i think we really should send a link or something like you said ring, something more noticable than me tweeting to him, that he will probably look at

ASK FOR THE LONG-HAIRED Ivy from the SC4 concept art..whatever. I loved that on her. It was surprisingly Ivy's style, or whatever. It'd be a nice 2P, coming from a bad streak of 2P.. I kinda liked her 2P in SC3.. But SC2 and SC4 are... no... jsut.. no!

I posted this in other threads about Ivy game play. Make this thread will be merged with some other thread or the title will be renamed to game play speculation.

Very interesting point about the meter changing a normal grab in to SS.

------------
SS and CS come from SW. SS now has Ivy normal Throw start animation(Due to the meter). CS now has SS throw start animation. They seem to do the same damage in SC4. Her normal B grab seem to do a bit more damage.

She has a new attack after CL 33B. 214B still has big side step it now come from SW.

CL is now remove. She is going back to her SW and WP stance like in SC3. I think it a good thing cause CL looked weird. Her side stepping seem to be very good. Maybe not as good as SC4 CL stepping, but similar to SC4 SW stepping.

One thing that is very troubling is that they might make Ivy easier to use. I really hope not, Ivy should always be a very difficult character to use. That what make her so fun.
Did you find Ivy hard to use in SCIV?
I find it harder to use characters like Sets or Taki TBH =/

You have to think about a lot more with Ivy than you do with Sets. The only thing that separates Sets from normal character in terms of difficulty is her inputs.

Havent tried Taki at all xD

But either way, Ivy becoming easier is a bad thing. We're saying we have fun playing a challenging character, you're saying Ivy isn't that challenging. Do you want to see her become even easier?

On a side note Ivy has scared alot of people.

*pouts* She don't scare Pocky Yoshi as........much. Big neorussell, Hajime-chan will save us......if Yoshi makes the cut. *pouts* lol

since ivy has drastically changed each game, its worrying for how she is going to end up in SCV,she could be great but they could ruin her,or she will end up nothing like a lot of us want,so since she has kinda been revealed showing some moves and such,i think we ought to get on with a ivy wishlist and to send the link to daishi, what do you think?everyone can chip in,just how would we go about doing it?i could set it up for us if i just know how to do it,btw i will be gone for a while after sunday too,but i think its time we got across some things to daishi since they might be starting steadily on ivy among other things now.

I have no idea how it'd start, either, but I do think it's a good idea to start one, not that they'd listen..
All I ask for, really, is control over the states.. I loved how in SC4, you had almost complete freedom with the states.. I'm afraid they'll change it back to making most moves force you back to the set state, which I hated..
That, and the long-haired Ivy sketch for her 2P. :x

Before creating this thread I should consult Static first, I'm not sure yet how such thread should look - should each person be limited to, let's say, 5 ideas? etc. I think huge walls of text could scare Daishi off a bit.

yes if they do get rid of coiled or not she needs to be able to control her weapon fully
,i liked her sc2 style but only having two states and barely having control over them and too many moves that forced the stance chance really sucked, and i agree the long hair design would make a great 2p costume for her,her 2p costumes are awful apart from the sc3 one in my opinion but i know people werent keen on that either, and yeah people should be limited to how many ideas you put across, because i know a lot of us could write pages on it,probably me for one, maybe we should discuss a bit before we actually put something on that thread to stop people from messing things up,we all need to be in agreement really

one thing ive heard from that video showing the new ivy that i dint like was them on about how ivy has got more difficult to learn, ugh u can learn her if your commited to it,we dont want her so all the noobies learn her and take advantage or people just take advantage because shes good and not that hard to learn anymore, there gonna end up ruining her, instead i think she needs to be more rewarding to master, but now theyve pretty much decided if we go saying we want the opposite there just not gonna take any notice to anything we say T_T....

Ring- it's all up to you. Personally, I would suggest one post per person and keeping it to a paragraph or so.

another thing im quite scared to death about is if they go with what seems to be using SS/CS by using up meter to replace a normal throw or something, they might even make it so you cant use one of the throws without building up the meter, that is going to be really lame, btw when you get that ivy thread up what were going to send let me know ok?though on monday ill be on holiday again..

Easy to use? Maybe. Win with? Not at all. You have to put in a lot of work to get your win and rack up the damage.
Oh, her grabs are overpowered so to counter that they gave her really weak normal moves. That is probably why you have to work hard to win with her..

I'm trying to figure this out. I just checked the wiki and the damage isn't that great, sure she gets oki but it isn't like her oki is the most terrifying in the game. Her grab range isn't anything special either. I am confused a bit. =\

Taki is easy to use. Setsuka is not hard if you can get her justs right..
Practically every attack/mixup/setup you make is a risk that outweighs the reward, sometimes significantly. Competing with Taki at high level is almost impossible if the opponent has a good understanding of the matchup and is a high level player. This is why I have a lot of respect for Ramza and Rufus. If she's easy to use, what does that make Amy? XD
Setsuka isn't all about justs - spam 1B:B, 2143B:B and 1A: A: A on me and see what happens ^_~
The reason I believe she is hard to use is not purely down to execution, its the sheer amount of thinking a sets player constantly does, more than most I think as she is a precision tool:
How much blockstun does this move have, when do I begin buffering umbrella? Is 33B worth the risk in a rushdown attempt now? When should I 4A? Is my opponent perfectly spaced? Is 1A: A: A worth the risk here?
Not to mention her combos do not have much give in timing, unless you're pretty sharp you can easily drop free damage.
