There's a serious problem with 3d artists in this game..

Ivy's face is the same in SC4. They used the same model, just put different clothes. I'd assume they did the same to Tira, 'cause her boobs seem pretty small. :x

Not to sound rude or put down the 3d modeller work, but usually (i don't know the specific Namco case) the "artist" is the chara designer and as hierarchy is (again) usually over him
Well, we really don't know how they're set up. But I think it's safe to assume the concept for those characters were approved before those illustrations were made, so for all we know these illustrations might be deviating from the concept as well. At least, I'm super certain the illustrations are at least deviating when it comes to boob size. It's especially ridiculous looking at Amy/Viola.

Yeah, I think this is the case as well. If I was less lazy I'd take some screenshots for comparison, but looking at screenshots of SC4 and SC5 quickly, it looks like the faces for most of the returning characters are identical.

1- As free time sucker , post here mostly during work dead moments(a lot) or from home when i've nothing to do =/= take the car and go to tournaments :D

2-and is exactly here teh fail of the logic: if gameplay suck i don't care if graphic look cool,i will not like it
Is like the booty vs bewbs debate, even prefering teh booty(gameplay) my opinion is that if possible i want epic booty AND epic bewbs. And maybe even epic face. And her being a not diseased pro at blowjob. If she's a pro at yoga too i'm not against it,i will be even happy :D
Now see my logic? :D

---

oh,obvious my post must not be read as "i don't try tournaments cuz i'm cool and i've a life" :D

Just as "as long i will like try it sometimes in MY personal standard week i can't/will be too much effort" :D

You had more posts in 3 months than people have in 3 years on this site. You have time. Plus there is just one tournament on the weekend every month or so, so it's not like you need to make a huge effort to go to one. And if I was where you are located, I would hop on a train and arrange to play the SC5 demo next week instead of sitting here complaining about stuff all day when I could just complain to the people responsible for the game in person.

I'm also not saying choose one or the other, but graphics is not the glaring problem with this series, it's the gameplay. I can't be worried about how the characters look right now when the major complaints about the game is how it plays/how it doesn't play like SC2/character balance, when there's still alot of people who doubt that SC5 will be any good, especially now that they are under the perception that the game is being rushed, and when we're making judgments on how the characters look from an outdated build since there's yet any footage of Viola being played by anyone. People are talking as if the build being played at TGS is the final build and that more work won't be done in that aspect, especially when there's 4 teams working on the game.

The 3d models are a concern, but not when there's still serious questions about how the game actually plays.

Great analisys of my free time based on number of post(mostly done during work, like this one,as long my customers don't call i've nothing to do,but still dos'nt mean be free to go around),i suppose you know my life better than me after all :)

Said that
Talk about gameplay ---> hey dude stop,we still don't know shit about xxx thing. Let's wait to see how end up
Talk about graphic (only thing we really see) ---> hey dude stop talking about graphic, talk about gameplay!
-Repeat-

6 months of "zomg can't wait this game!", lol

I think there is no problem, the render team in SC is pretty good in my opinion, is just that is not the same to do a draw that to do a render.

Drawings of Kawano-san are really stilized, with long legs and little head, maybe Kawano´s drawings are like 7,5/8 heads long, but they keep the renders with more realistics heights and more relistic proportioned body, like 6/7,5 heads long, I think that´s a pretty good idea, is normal they look different.

The concept art is more of a 'general idea' of what the character would actually look like. It isn't an accurate drawing. Why does this annoy you so much anyway?

This is no concept. This is the official 2D art of the character, released by the developing company as a complement of the revealing of a character.

Therefore it should be an accurate drawing. There's no real reason why the character should have different facial features in the 2D drawing and in the 3D render. Expecially if the latter looks worse (as many here agree) and expecially because it seems the 3d render ends up influencing the ingame model of the character big time.

Some people don't like the original characters or their 1P/2P. I don't like Cervantes, but I like the style. Bonus/CAS characters aren't the same size as the original character, so it makes moves whiff and miss when they should connect. People tend to not like that.

What is no concept? I am talking about the drawings...

The drawings are not "concepts" of the characters.

A concept is a sketch, not finished work, drawn by an artist in order to develop the design of the character. This is different from the official 2d art which, as much as the 3d render, is intended as a promotional vehicle and as a statement of how the character actually - definitely - officially looks. That's why there should be no conflict between the two.

Exactly. Sometimes a concept ends up looking better than the final design choosen (Siegried's for example), but in that case it's a matter of the producer's choice.

Good point. Ivy's 2P costumes have been very disappointing to me after SC2. Expecially SC4 with that weird hairdo.

Their concept art and the "official" art illustrations are basically the same thing.
The final product is the 3D renders.

SC2's was bad, too, though.. I liked the idea of her SC3 more than the actual design, but I've never really liked any of her 2P costumes.

i agree that something the 3d models look bad. in sc4 some people's face models were so terrible like raph, taki but others got really nice face models. and disparity between the offical 2d art and 3d needs to be cut down as much as possible.

gameplay is most important but it would be nice to have the best models possible as well.
