Astaroth and Viola Announced at TGS

Tokyo Game Show started today (half a day ago, due to timezones) and already a metric ton of information has been released about various fighting games for the upcoming year. Soul Calibur V is of course no exception with Famitsu getting the details on two new confirmed characters!

The first revealed character is a returning favorite... Astaroth; who if my math is correct, is now 23 years old. The second new character is "Viola"; who attacks with disembodied jewels, very similar to Z.W.E.I. She is working with Z.W.E.I. to accomplish something or another.

24 and born in Italy... :/ Is that soulcalibur Wiki not the same that Daishi said posted false info before?

But ok maybe it is not Amy after all. That makes it very weird that she wears a costume thats a copy of Amy's and that pearls she wears all form A's...

They haven't really ripped Amy off because she has only been a proper character in IV. In III she was a bonus so I don't think they'd care if they gave a new character her clothes.

Ok. Yes Tag im kinda mad about this and i get more close to leave this game.

Here is why:

I'm no fan of Sophitia, and i like Pyrrha's look, but...

I'm no fan of Taki, and i like Natsu's look, but...

I'm a fan of Amy, and i like Viola's looks, but...

Viola has a new weapon, but if she's not grown-up Amy then they ripp off Amy with the costume and the look. That makes me scared Amy is out. They want the look back but not the character so they just give the look to another woman as a excuse.

I don't like that SC5 has all 'new' characters that are just copies of the old ones. I think it's lame to make it like this and say its a new game.
Ivy is back and doesnt age only because horny perverts like her but the vampires, the real immortals they are not because they dont have a G-cupsize.

Now theres only 2 or 3 old characters to come back and not 1 of my favs returned yet. If they put all my favorites, Amy, Raphael, Talim, Yun-Seong to DLC then i'm not buying SC5.
I'm not gonna pay 60 Euro's on a game then pay more for DLC just to have my favorites in the game, and if i ask my mom she will laugh and say its crazy to buy this. I'm a growing girl, i need my money for more important stuff then this.

I think having characters as DLC is just stupid. Also Daishi recently tweeted that if there are a lot of requests for DLC then that could happen, but lets just hope it doesn't because I don't want to have to pay extra for a few characters and I don't think anyone else should have to do so either. The same goes for stages. However for CAS parts and such, I do not mind DLC for that.

I do feel that at least some of your favourites will be in the game.. We have just seen almost like half the roster so there's still more to go, I wouldn't worry much about it. :)

The new trailer is amazing, the end with all the poses and what not got me so hyped for this game XD

 

Amy: (The Poster). You have the right to complain. Once you cross the line of "I'm not going to buy this game" in your complaining, that is where your post gets deleted. I understand why you're upset. I'm an Amy fan too, but you shouldn't give up on the games because of that. We'll just have to wait and see what really happens to Amy in the end.

I'd understand if it was the fighting style you'll miss. 'Cause I liked it too, but Amy is someone I can easily say goodbye too. A walking cliche and with less personality than that of the characters who don't even say a single word is nothing to get worked up about. If anything a replacement with her fighting style would be a blessing.

 

There's been a shocking and disappointing lack of gameplay information to come out of this event.

There are famitsu magazine scans with japanese text. Some of our forum members may be able to help you translate. Otherwise, some of the gaming websites have done a basic translation as well.

to diverge a little, one of the Pat vs Astaroth videos featured what might possibly be the most epic stage music I've heard in SC!! Full-on adrenaline pumper.

On another curious note, notice what the announcer says at the start - "A new nightmare approaches the Fortress of Wind". Is that you Talim?
