SCV Character Creation Discussion

Nope. There's exactly 50 slots. I wish they went the LBP route and give character creation a profile data that increases with each new costume you make. That'd be a great idea for a patch...
is the 50 slot count counting editing regular outfits for the characters? just curious.

They weren't specific about how you can use the 50 slots them among customs and regulars. With SCIV, I actually didn't realize the slot numbers were shared until after I started playing. They might do the same for SCV, seeing they're using the same amount

Rambling....

Actually, 50 is not a bad number. I can understand 16 like in SCBD, but 50 is a fair amount. I mean, I don't go out and make 1000 ninjas, vikings, knights, and all lol. I like a few handful so my mind won't lose focus. I mean, I always get the feeling that sometimes less is more as to quality is better than quantity imho. In this case I like sticking to 10 CAS of mine that will some story and their stereotypical roles.....of course I give them multiple outfits to get into the character design and all. Example, tomboyish ninja chick gets a lot of customizing from japanese stuff lol. If I made thousand female ninjas, I would lose focus due to the fact there's too many. With just one female ninja, I could pretend I'm the character and figure out what outfits should suit her best and which should be kicked to the curb.....if whatever logic I'm going by makes sense.

50 isn't a bad number, but some for players it can be used up quickly. In my case, I've managed to use up 48 slots in SCIV (although some of those were conceptional and others were for special stats, which SCV won't them). Then there's the added fact that this creation will be 10xs more than what SCIV was. With that, players are likely to make more characters than whatever number they made in SCIV. Sometimes you make several characters and want to give them 2Ps and 3Ps (in my case I went up to 5Ps, but I only had 7 main characters). No one is really asking to be able to make 100 characters. It's just about having more room to work with. That's why the data profile idea would've been better.

No, I'm merely a plain jane guy who learned that too much fattening is not always good. In this case, I find it redundant to make many outfits that are too similar to a character. Think about it. Too much tomboyish kunoichis tire other people.

It wouldn't tire me since that's my fetish and my cup of tea, but if all I post in my thread was tomboyish ninjas or similar people, certain people get bored of that same design. It's just like music, you gotta mix it up and toss out the CAS you like the least and improve on the ones that hold more ideas.

Not only that, I kinda got used to perfecting and experimenting with CAS just like hardcore play lol.

There really should be more than 50 slots. 50 are too few already in SCIV, as limited as that character creation tool is it's still not hard filling the slots. With SC5 charatcter creation, which seems much less limited, it will be much too easy filling the slots and still have ideas left. Especially if one wants to also do 2P costumes for all characters, which I would really like to do for SC4 but is unable to due too slot constrains.

I'm just wondering if those on the right are player profiles? And if they are, could each profile have their own 50 slots... or are the 50 slots shared between them?

I'm assuming a lot of the equipment and the like will be unlockable through achievements/trophies, casual modes like story and arcade, etc... Makes me wonder just how much there will actually be though.

I think a lot of the people reviewing these modes on various sites do not understand that what they have is not the complete game nor does it have everything unlocked. I do worry quite a bit about this one though since it seems you can't change the tone of the voices or the pitch without making the characters sound weird. whatever we will be able to find stuff out in 3 or so weeks.

Speaking for myself here, 50 definitely can get used up fast, even when you aren't spamming out unfinished ideas or stat boosted characters with different movesets.

Me and my friend have to share the CAS spots and we both give a lot of thought into designing characters and often 2p outfits as well. It gives us about 12-13 characters + additional outfits between us.

I guess what I'm trying to get at (and rather failing to do so) is... why not? Seriously- I'd like one good reason as to why they find it best to limit the slots to 50. Perhaps you personally do not use them all- but is it hurting you that they're there?

Some of the funnest... uh- fun, I've had in Soul Calibur is designing characters with my friend and coming up with and acting out very impromptu and deliciously campy stories for them.

I agree with Ryuhza. I think that there really should be more then 50 in SCV. I really wanted to give my characters 2 outfits but 50 wasn't an even number so you'd always be left with one character who couldn't get a 2P outfit (but on the plus side, it worked out a bit because SCIV lacked a large amount of clothing so I found myself reusing a lot of certain clothing and it just didn't work for me. That's why I think that SCV is ready for at least 60 slots since it sounds like there will be a ton of clothing to go around.).

My only worry are the faces. I hope you can unlock alot of new ones.
Other thing I don't like (hope it changes in the final build): When you make a fat character, the face remains the same...it's so stupid, lazy and bad. If you do something (fat characters) then do it good or forget it...a fat body with a silm face is so silly. But again, I hope it was implemented later and we will see it.

I was annoyed that 50 slots had to be shared among the standard and originals. I went through them pretty fast and had to delete a bunch of the standards :/ Maybe 50 for standard edits and 50 for originals? I also heard this one guys blew off 48 slots on Ivy edits... XD
