Maxi Video Thread

So then it's up to us who still play Maxi to post some new vids, come on now :)

Regarding ATL_R3DD. He does not hit confirm and follows through on all his blocked combos hoping for the best for example. A good contemporary player would kick his ass, he is offering himself on a platter with all the risks he's taking. You just can't play Maxi like that if you want to get good. Someone has to say it so that future Maxi's don't get a wrong start.

If our goal is to share our thoughts on how to take Maxi to the future I think it's anti-productive to say that ATL_R3DD is playing Maxi properly. He was interesting when we were in heavy experimentation after the game came out, not now. He had his time, respect to him.

Leave it to Teflon to recommend watching a mainly online player's vids. ATL_R3DD was a good player....online. I always used to tell him every time that the stuff he was doing could be easily picked apart offline. Hell, I used to pick him apart online as well but it was because I could predict what was coming and punish accordingly. The main moves he would hit me with would be stuff like 3A+K, 3B ROK,2A etc.

There should be a warning about taking any advice from Teflon concerning this game offline, because Teflon has not been to a single offline tournament and plays most of his games online and thus has no idea about the differences between offline and online.

3A+K can be blocked offline?? I should try that sometime haha

I find it funny that our latest match shows both how not to fight against Maxi, and how not to use Maxi, and even has a drunken opinion from me about ATL_R3DD at 1:15.

Lol, I want a rematch man. I dont know what I was doing, using 44B as punishment lol

I thought REDD played offline a little bit also ? I seen one of his vids offline against sorbo. He looked dam good.

Yeah for a little while he actually played offline with some of the ATL crew. The only vids I saw of him offline though were against Sword Lord. Even in those vids, he was doing stuff that funkedmixx was talking about...continuing strings on block (Sword Lord wasn't interrupting or punishing a lot of the stuff that he could), doing stuff that was just too risky. He started playing SF4 though and hasn't been back to SC4 since.

Come on guys, upload some vids that show your good skills!

Here's some recent Online casuals I had with Kvalsternacka. He's a good showman :)

nice vids. That voldo definately needs to work on his Maxi punishment though, he lets some stuff get by (like no punish on 6BBB). As for you, more stepping, and some B+K step punishers. If the Voldo wanted to, he could have spaced you a lot better and given you a lot of problems. If he does start doing that, you're gonna have to step him. Voldo has great range and is really safe, but he is very steppable.

Nah don't worry about 3bbb, I almost never do it. It was just for the fun of it, it's a crap move. He does'nt need to learn to punish it :) Yeah I know, more stepping, more more more- is what I need to do I know. Im stepping more then before you at least im getting somewhere :)

I actually prefered the 1st few vids you posted, this newer one didn't really complement you.
maybe is online, but your oppnent doesn't know enough about Maxi to push your limits.

Yeah I know. It's more of a warm up. I was teaching him some things about Maxi and I was trying out stuff against Voldo. You can expect some tense matches being posted later on.

A fighting game club in Sweden- Uppsala called Uppercut arranged a Soul Calibur tournament about a month ago.

Here is a video of me in the finals:
I have to give it some comments though before you look. Eon was very good respect to him, but it's worth noting that I was so tired by the time we had the finals- I was in a mental haze. I did my best in the state I was.

By looking at your name and remembering funkieXMix we fought a couple times before i used taki & Ivy against you. You have good an good maxi.

Not too many ppl using maxi in tournaments because of his low tier state. He's not a popular character in SC4. I rarely see any maxi tournament vids i seen a couple ppl using maxi in SC3 that's about it.

Interesting the Atl R3DD dissing since from vids I see he's on another level above FunkeXmix. R3DD for the most part only does what his opponent will let him get away with. Very few people punish ALL of Maxi's unsafeness.
this is the last vid of him and I didn't punish or GI some of the stuff I did when nothing was being recorded, but he started playing much safer after this.

He beat JTO in a tourney a few months ago, which is extremely difficult for anyone using any character, believe me (I still say JTO is the best in the US).

online vids means shit. nobody can play against Maxi the right way online.

anywayz, here's my Maxi. I play him safely but that's why I suck with him in sc4, cuz he's better against the majority of people when he's taking some risks. My Maxi is only decent against people who are really good at fighting Maxi, and not so great against the other 90%. But I don't like this vid cause I'm playin against Cervy and I'm not used to being able to punish anything with Maxi.

its a really pokie play style you have there, its interesting to see safeness. however a few more stance games wouldnt hurt, aim to confuse people, dont do waht people expect, i know a lot of his stuff is not safe but maxi is a tricky bugga to punish some times cos a lot of his stuff can be canceled early or continued on (even at disadvantage) and an hesitation you cause by not playing as expected can be exploited.

Yeah, Sword that's really safe you won't be confusing too many opponents wit that style not many stance change ups.
