SCV: Who To Watch For At EVO 2012

With Soulcalibur V having over 400 competitors at EVO 2012 distributed across twenty-six 16 man pools, it gets kind of crazy trying to keep track of everything, especially if you are new to the competitive side of Soulcalibur V or unfamiliar with who the players are.

I decided to compile a list of every pool for Soulcalibur V and list the players to look out for. Make sure you leave you predictions who to look out for and follow the brackets online as they are updated.

Brackets

there are so many variables in this tournament and so many killers all over the place.

i think everyone will be very surprised when the dust settles and top 8 is figured out.

I gotta admit... sounds pretty cool to be on the who to watch for list :p.

My money is on Partisan for winner of Evo. Go Canada!

If you got seeding points, I added you to the list by default. Don't go feelin' yourself just yet. There's also some that I left off intentionally because I wanted other people to talk them up.

There's alot of variables to consider and killers all over the place, which is why I made this list so people can see where people are at and start hyping up their favorites.

Pools that I'm looking at:

A26: You have two Japanese players plus Aris in this pool. Really interested to see how the Japanese players do.

B23: Runback from ECT4 with Woahhzz and Gamerbee again in the same pool. There's going to be lots of salty people in that pool.

B24: I'm going to be rooting hard for whoever the fuck Purpleslurp is.

B25: Another strong pool of players. Will Hawkeye make it out in one peace or will there be an upset?

B26: First pool of death of the day with lots of strong competitors.

B29: Second pool of death of the day and probably the deadliest pool in EVO for SCV with the #2 seed in Ryujin; Kura who has been one of the best players in the world using one of the worst characters in SC4, now back on the world stage with SCV using a much stronger character; KineticClash fresh off placing well at both MLG tournaments; and 2 time MLG champion and the man to beat, Keev.

C25: Greatone and King Salmon are matched up in the first round in this pool, so I can't wait to see some Mitsu on Mitsu action.

C26: Decopon who was one of the best Japanese players in SC4 facing one of the best players in SCV in Partisan in the first round.

C29: Third pool of death of the day including EVO 2009 champion Malek. Will he take EVO 2012 as well?

D24: Myself, Kayane, and Fuudo are in this pool. Only two can make it out.

D26: I know Renzo is a strong player, but I haven't seen him play a lick of SCV, so I don't know how well he will do, or if he will just body people on fundamentals. Spman, Xeph, and Dusk0naka should be some very interesting matches to watch as well.

That's what's exciting because I don't know alot of these people or how they play. Some unknown can come in and take out a bunch of people.

I'm also interested in finding out who's going to get hammered on Thursday night and be hung over for the pool Friday morning at 8AM.

Good luck to everyone involved. I hope Belial and Malek put up a good show. Also interested to see how Kura, Decopon, RTD, Kayane, Partisan and the Shens fare. Also will enjoy the progress of the actual favourite (Keev).

Wondering how long it will be before Woahhzz starts dominating the US again (and which pool he'll be in once he registers :D ). Players such as Thugish and Omega will be sorely missed.

Woahzhz is already in B23.

Hmm they changed my match. I had Raphire 1st now they put me against Ramon...who's in charge of this bracketing >_>. It's a conspiracy i say!

Anyway! My predictions!
Pool A23:
RTD pulls breaks into the semifinals in winners. Pretty hard to call anything else as I'm not familiar with the Korean or Italian player and know Drake is relatively strong.
Pool A24:
Jimmy makes it out in winner's. Once again, loser's is really hard to call for me.
Pool A25:
Mateo makes it out in winner's. Tough call between KAB and Typhoon. Not sure if KAB's fundamentals can beat Typhoon's matchup knowledge.
Pool A26:
Eita in winner's, Kbo in loser's.
Pool A27: Revin122, Bonchan (Japan), Animefreak (#45)
Hmm...will leave the names for everyone to see. Bonchan makes it out in winner's. Cointoss between Regin and Animefreak.
Pool A28: ShenOu (#19 Singapore), STB/MKU | Shujinkydink (#34), ViciousSuicide, Tokido (Japan)
Tokido makes it out in winner's; ShenOu pulls it out in loser's.
Pool A29: Dr. Mariokart (#9), Crna Ruka (Japan)
Who the fuck?
10AM Pools
Pool B23: Woahhzz (#4), AvM | Gamerbee (Taiwan)
Woahhzz in winner's, lest nerves get to him (doubtful, as Gamerbee isn't too well known in the SC circle), Gamerbee in losers.
Pool B24: ShenYuan (#23 Singapore), Greven (Switzerland), Kiras (#30), Purpleslurp, Saru (Japan)
ShenYuan makes it out in winner's easily, Greven pulls through in loser's.
Pool B25: Hawkeye (#13), Esom, Crsk (Japan), Hates (#40)
I have a feeling this bracket will be full of upsets. 3 frontrunners are Hawkeye, Crsk, and Hates.
Pool B26: ShenChan (#5 Singapore), Afrocole, Bibulus (#18), CafeId | countien (Korea), EG | fLoE (#29), IceColdEdge, Kamaage (Japan)
Damn...another stacked bracket. ShenChan in winner's though...loser's is hard to call.
Pool B27: EG | Justin Wong (#26), Sousuhi (Japan), Byakko (#31)
Sousuhi makes it out in winner's, JWong in loser's.
Pool B28: MysticBill (#12), Jashin (Japan), Polish Mafia (#41)
Mysticbill and Jashin.
Pool B29: Ryujin (#2), CafeId | Kura (Korea), KineticClash, Keev (France)
Gotta look at the bracket to see how this one would go. Have a feeling there'll be a bunch of upsets.
12PM Pools
Pool C23: Devilchipp (#22), Masketkt (Japan), Ssnortme imdop3
Hard one to call.
Pool C24: Deviljim (#15), Rickstah, Oosaka (Japan), Hussler (#38)
Rickstah makes it out in winner's.
Pool C25: Nuta (Japan), Greatone1939 (#17), King Salmon, Lobster Johnson, Uber1337
Hard one to call with King Salmon and G1 being the first fight but it's between King Salmon, G1, and Nuta.
Pool C26: Shining Decopon (Japan), SCPartisan (#7), Shironuko (Japan), Chickenwing, Flipinflava (#46), Qdogg
I know Partibot will hate me for this, but I think it's a tossup between him and Shining Decopon. There are possible upsets in loser's.
Pool C27: EMP | Black Mamba (#20), Dreamkiller, KrayzieCD, Something-Unique (#33), Aopai (Japan)
SU is unconfirmed right now because of money issues, so KCD in winner's, Black Mamba in loser's.
Pool C28: Ramon (#10), Kane, Goofus, Augustin (#43), Michael Jackson, Jon Hammer
Ramon and Augustin.
Pool C29: LostProvidence (#3), Belial (Russia), Malek (France), Manta
LP and Belial.
2PM Pools
Pool D23: Signia (#24), Soakrates, A016245 (Japan), EMP KDZ (#8)
Signia makes it out in winner's unless he has to play KDZ.
Pool D24: Kayane (#14 France), Malice (#39), Fuudo (Japan)
I think Malice can beat Kayane due to both of their styles of play (if he knows Viola, that is). Fuudo is a really smart player, but he'll lose to ignorance.
Pool D25: Kissa (Japan), Jaxel, EMP | LinkRKC (#6)
Link in winner's.
Pool D26: Spman, Xephukai (#21), Dusk0naka (Japan), Akazukin chacha (#32)
Xeph in winner's.
Pool D27: Raphire (#11 Singapore), ESA | Enkindu
Raphire in winner's.
Going to check back on this after the first day and see my accuracy.

pool c27 is pretty scary, but i am actually more excited by c29. i have never seen belial play and i am already setting my alarms and clearing the calendar to watch.
