Yeah, Eden of the East isn't really appealing to me, everyone just tells me it is very good. I enjoyed Darker Than Black, but I didn't enjoy that it had no answers to offer me. I like when a medium offers its world to you though avenues outside of tiresome exposition, but the fact is that we will never know a lot about Darker Than Black and that is the entire point. I'll check out Sword Art Online though.

I just feel like I fell out of interest in Anime. I used to really enjoy it, and while some shows were excellent with pacing, drama and storytelling like Higurashi, and I really enjoyed the scene where Levy (Revy? Whatever) and Rock yelled at each other at that patio restaurant in Black Lagoon I just feel like Anime has been missing the mark for me. I have always wanted to watch Spice and Wolf though, so maybe I'll try that next.

If you liked Full Metal Alchemist, Trigun, Outlaw Star (The Classics), you may like Blue Exorcist, Kekkaishi.
You've seen Ghost in the Shell right? It's one of the best!

I love GitS! Great show, great art! Never heard of Blue Exorcist or Kekkaishi, so I'll check them out.

My favorite mangas are pretty hyperviolent (Blame, Berserk) and right now I'm reading Knights of Cydonia which is a pretty standard giant-robo-in-space-fights-disgusting-and-horrific-monsters romp, but I love it!

I'm guessing you've seen Gungrave already?

Anyone who doesn't think Fairy Tail and One Piece isn't the exact same show is wrong. Fairy Tail is One Piece LIGHT. Not just the same art style, but same characters, same kind of message, same kind of action, same kind of hype building, everything. They're both GREAT also.

Naruto is total ass, has been since ShitPooDamn started.

Bleach was fine and than became good again and then ended because they didn't want to pull a Naruto.

Kekkaishi isn't that great, some decent action but it's a middle of the road show, a filler for something else at best. And that something else was Kurokami lol.

Gungrave isn't that good either, high quality animation but it just becomes flashbacks within flashbacks for quite some time.

Cool! That gives me more to go on. I'd recommend "RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne". It's gratuitous in both violence and sexuality. Screenshot:

"Shigurui: Death Frenzy" is good and violent. " You can tell by the cover:

And an oldy but a goody is Elfen Lied for blood and gore (screenshot):

I want to look into Elfen Lied later but only if it's got an actual story/interesting characters. I don't mind gore, but I'm not a fan of free gore for no reason. It's kinda creepy for someone to watch that imo.

I really liked Higurashi. A lot.

Elfen Lied actually has a good story it's not just a gorefest. The anime has a different ending than the manga cause it only covers about 2/3 of the manga.

I personally think Elfin Lied was one of the worst anime I've seen in a while. Pointless gore. a character that can't seem to die and is invincible (thus a boring character for me. i wish she'd just die). A stupid main character that makes stupid decisions. (won't spoil it for anyone what those decisions are). and pointless nudity. I don't mind gore. I watched Texhnolyze. that has plenty of blood and gore but it isn't pointless.

Elfin Lied was short. I was glad. I watched it all because it was short. like Fooly Cooly (except that show was awesome).

an anime I've been wanting to watch is some ghost anime that's a comedy as well. I forgot the name of it but it had the word "Ghost" in it. there was also a chick that was a hardcore Christian too but the stuff she would say would be random and therefore funny.

I've also wanted to see the live action Boogiepop Phantom movie as well as the live action Tomie movie. I read the Tomie manga and was fascinated with the entire book. i didn't want it to end. I don't know if there's a anime of it or not though.

Don't forget to add Future Diary to your itinerary. The main character does some stupid things but even he can't spoil the proceedings, the show is good in spite of him.

I really liked the GiTS movie but haven't really gotten into the show. What could you tell me to get me to watch it? Which is the first season and what's the timeline like in relation to the film?

Funny of all the animes I have watched, the only anime that seems atleast from memory legit best story....is Monster.

So as much as I like a good amount of what I have seen, admittedly it's mediocre at best.

Can't wait for Koreans to start making anime. They know how to write.

I'm not interested in Korean things, their culture and social habits are different from Japan's.
And it's Japanese culture I'm interested in. Well, unless it's this :

Don't let the TNA of Major Kusanagi fool you. The series is very well written and extremely cerebral. Some of the most annoying characters (tachikomas) have the deepest conversations. It's technological, philosophical, political and has excellent character development. It's a show you actually have to pay attention to or you could miss something pivotal at any given moment. Like Sherlock Holmes novels it has a story with such mystery and suspense but enough clues to keep you solving the situation alongside the characters. Best series ever! Not just counting Anime.
First Season - GITS Stand Alone Complex
Second - GITS S.A.C. Second Gig.
Third - GITS S.A.C. Sold State Society

Try the manga 20th Century Boys. Same guy as Monster. He also made Pluto. This guy is great at pacing.

Well Hubbs, ill let you know that i am watching Fairy tail & One Piece right now. Some people dislike the art style so im not sure if those would interest you, but the story and characters are developed pretty well. Also, they both are still on-going. One Piece is about 660 episodes in, and Fairy Tail is about 145. If you are want to try it, Fate Zero was pretty good, no lolis as you asked, and was about 2 seasons long ( about 26 episodes).

Have you tried sport based anime like EyeShield 21, or Prince of Tennis? Those were pretty good. Not really to sure on what else to suggest. Im sure the others in the thread could give you more to look into.

I'll check out fairy tale and fatezero. Thanks.

Thanks a lot jdub. One last question, are these continuations, prequels or a separate universe from the film?
