SCV Ivy FAQ & General Discussion

You know, she has that 11B, but no whip version.
Not even a 11
That, where she makes the whip strike in a sine wave, and the unblockable where she flicks it causes a wave to go down the length of the whip were always my favourite moves.
And V has neither of those things.

lol her lag low, sweet memories
But I'm sure she still has her unblockables

I really miss SC4 Ivy. I wish they'd update the netcode for that game.

I was wondering.. How do you do CS? I have to use both thumbs; one on the analog, one on the D-pad.
If I don't, I never get it.. but even that way is super slow. Any pointers, perhaps?

i was on there yesterday, the connection was great, better than some sc5 games i've been having.

two thumbs is most prob easiest, but CS and iCS is possible with just the analog, I place my 1st joint on my thumb on the analog, then make the movements as small possible, the game shockingly still picks it up, you can CS quite slowly

The input for CS is memorized for several seconds. That's how people can buffer it, block, then press B+G and still perform CS.

I only miss 3 maybe 4 moves Ivy has in SC4.

Her lag low, her fast WS 6A, her Just version of WS 6A and her SS without using meter.

That's it really. Even though all those moves except the SS has no real purpose.

Not really. Most of her other moves had insane properties (in comparison to her SC5 moves), She was a monster in SC4, but in this game she would be practically impossible to beat with the new system mechanics.

lol I forgot the matches lasted longer in sc4, but in relation to the game she was above average but still in line with others ish ^^

Random rant thought of the week.

1A+B. Ivy's had the move for 10 years. It can afford to be faster than 32 frames now.

Maybe in the next game.

It was i22~23 in SC2 and i24 in SC4. But in SC2 it was safe and RO on hit :o

Yeah, I don't have high hopes for anything being patched again for SCV, but I still felt the need to get that out there.

After 10 years you'd think players would be able to recognize it as a low without needing to be i32. As it is, I only try to use it on the 2P side since the sword is obscured by her body, which helps to mask it somewhat.

I don't personally see its use tbh because of its slowness.

starting to use ivy consistenly more now but i want to learn cs ive tried both with the pad and analog and it just wont come out also want to learn the timing of her just frame move i forget the name any tips ? it will be greatly appreciated :)

Hiya Ivy folks!

Recently I've started using Ivy (again) and I've been doing decently. I've managed to get CS down and I've managed to get it numerous times online (with and without buffer) but still my game play lacks.

Tira is my main and I win as her more as I can play aggressively with her and I can apply pressure to my opponent with certain moves, making them eat my 3B/4BBB's combos. And I was just wondering how do you gets play aggressively as Ivy (If it's possible) I try to do little random "sequences" like I'll do 3B, then if it's blocked I do AA 214 B 2K or instead I do BB 2A CS etc and I try to do 2A+B whenever me and my opponent stand and stare at each other, 1A at long range while their charging at me. And even Just Guard certain moves (Tira's JS: 66B A+B+K etc)Yet I still find my self with red-meter for a long time and getting side stepped, what should I do?!?

And any tips on the 22_88BBBB just frames would be great! :* :*

22B <--- Hold that B, then immediately tap another.

It's 4 Hits after that, the timing is 1 1-2 1. The 1 2 part is only marginally closer input wise than the 1's on the sides. If it was out of a sixty seconds, the inputs would look something like:

1 second - 22B Hold
5 seconds - B
20 seconds - First JF B
35 seconds - Second JF B
45 seconds - Third JF B
60 seconds - Fourth JF B
Then the auto-last hit.

This is a subjective, and non-true ratio to give you a rough idea.

All the B's you press must be clean. For instance If I press 22BBBB during the first hit and THEN time the just frames perfectly, it still wont come out. On that note just practice the 22B hold, B B until you get the flash, THEN start working on the others.

By the time you land your first one you'll get 2-3 in a row. After that, sink an hour or two and you wont miss it, even online.

Every time I do it, I run a mantra in my head (I very rarely miss it,)

"22BeeeBee, Bee Be-Be Bee" Yes... Bee, Baby, Bee.

Call me crazy, but we all have our own shit for these just frames. It always sounds retarded telling someone else.

HEYA GUYS! Thanks for the advice Zanaken, I managed to get the first two just frames with what you said, but I couldn't get the others.

I did however find this video on youtube:
(I'll post it in the Ivy video thread) and I can get it 9/10 times offline now! Just need to practice it online!

Thank you!! :*:*

That video is a little off. He adds extra B's that he doesn't need to at the end. Keep in mind you only do 4 JFs yourself, the lightning hit at the end there is an automatic hit.

Hm, There has been rumors going around in Namco Bandai America about SoulCalibur VI. Because, rumor has it, SCVI will be annouced sometime next year? And that, Ivy will have better movelist along will better options. Ivy wont be the only one who will undergo a change though. Hmmm, has anyone else heard of this?
