Patroklos Video Thread

well i'm started to play Patroklos again....was my first character, but i let him in the road when i started to play with Zwei and Algol, now i came back to my roots, and i learned how to make more pressure with his low kicks.....some tips for better my gameplay with him will be cool, thanks in advance ;)

One thing I noticed watching your video, ka_kui, is that you dropped a lot of pressure when you would do that quick back step and try to attack and whiff. Other than that, you are picking up the basics pretty well.

PheredLevi...

I saw your video, and i think you are being too turtle, trying to make whiff your oponent just walking backwards, patroklos have tools for pressure, you dont need to stay turtling, patroklos is better from short distances, than just waiting-spaming 66B.

You should put together a matchup binder. Or, at least write some notes down.

You should be punishing 236A, 66A, 3B, 236B, etc.

You should try to JG or GI after blocking 4B, so they get discouraged about using the advantage.

Watch when Pyrrha jumps in the air, you've been hit by quake stuns a lot... You're not blocking those low.

Aside from missing punishment opportunities, you've been winning, so... Not too much to say.

I'm trying to be more patient.
Using backstep instead of backwalking will probably serve you better.

When you get a knockdown (like off of 236B), that's not the time to be patient. Run in and apply pressure.

You only want to be patient when you're at disadvantage, or when you're pushed out of your range and you can't easily get back in. If the opponent lets you on the inside, or leaves an opening, get in and stay there.

You did better with running in in the later rounds.

1:12, if you go to the trouble of blocking low, you really need to punish. You could have hit a 66B there.

aPat's 22BA is mid-high, you can duck under the second hit if you block the first.

If your opponent whiffs be sure to punish them. You missed good opportunities.

yeah i need to look omega frame data to know when to block punish

ok, thanks ;)

I've been trying to JG this move...im too used to JG the UB version XD

thanks for your reply...i will post videos in the future with other characters than Omega Pyrrha

thanks ;)

Drake, could you upload a match vs Zwei please? I have trouble getting in on him and interrupting his flow. When he backsteps after Ein attacks, not even 66B has enough reach.

Do you want footage of me winning or losing (or both)? Do you want more than one match?

I have an hour-long set I can pull some video from.

What attack is ZWEI backstepping after? Remember, if 66B doesn't work, running forward and 1King usually will.

i think he meant....Zwei doing this:

-1[ B]>backsteping>release EIN
-66[A+B]>backsteping>release EIN

...something like that, a good zwei player do not backstep in this moves, they do another move before release EIN.....maybe trying to 236A, or 236236236 + something you can pass under.

I think the better you can do, is enter to practice mode, and record the moves of Zwei that give you problems, and look for good moves against them....normaly the Tech Crouch ones are good againt Zwei

;)

I'm not too familiar with his moves (which is probably the main reason for my problems), but it starts with basic moves like {A} and {B}. He's positive on block, so I have to evade the Ein hits. I know {A} can be answered by tech crouch moves like 236A,B but I can only assume I have to step {B}. I don't even know if stepping it should give me anything for free. Even if there's a way to punish either of those, I still can't tell them apart fast enough.

Another thing I feel stupid about falling to is intentional long range whiffs, covered by EIN-followups, covering any aggressive attempts.

The only thing that doesn't get me into trouble is not trying to get in... well, you know that's not an option.

You didn't answer my question. ._.

Hit up practice mode. Use the record function and study those move properties, especially the ones that seem to hit you the most.

Not falling for false whiffs is just part of the matchup. Remember, GI is your friend if ZWEI likes to use EIN's advantage on block. (66A+B can't always be GI'd though.)

To answer your question, seeing you deal with a Zwei trying to keep you out would help. Preferably not one-sided, to see what works for either side and how to deal with it.

How's this?

I forgot to mention. 3B, 236B BE, 3B, character specific combo against ZWEI. Use it instead of 3B, CE for more meter mileage.

Try not to attack while waking up if you can help it.

There is use for 44KK(17 frames useful frametrap) as a side step killler and counter hit setup only -8 on block second hit. Wake up CE to blow up slow wake up moves from the opponent for a large amount of damage is also useful.
