SCV Yoshimitsu Q&A and General Discussion

I just read the entire post from Signia and it was very well written! Chock full of info that really helped me.

Only question I have is that you said it was only a part from your overall guide.
When will it come out/Where can I find it?

Gonna be honest

There was no guide

I just wanted to save face for spending 5-6 hours over the course of two days to write that, just for a post that will get lost in the many small pages of small writing in a popular article thread.

That pretty much is the guide. It is the yoshi post to end all yoshi posts. Its purpose was to let everyone know how great the character could be, but in it are responses to common yoshi stuff like:

"How do I get in as Yoshi"
"How do I make use of iMCF"
"Yoshi seems bad"
"His brave edges suck/how do I use his meter"
"How do I catch step"

There's other stuff I could add, like this really long post I made which commented on every single one of Yoshi's move complete with a ranking of how often I use each one. And I could briefly go over how to make the most out his wall combos (it's pretty simple)...

Yeah I might as well put something together. Any requests?

How u do da 4A jf string consistently is a good one.

Thou lacks devotion =)

Get a rhythm down for it. I sat and practiced for a week in SCIV long ago. Now doing it isn't hard in SCV if you're a vet, but the same rules apply even if you aren't one: get a rhythm down for it. It isn't too fast or too slow, it's finding the right timing for it. One trick I used was using the palm of my thumb to get it.

You won't get it down in a day, but you can at least get a feeling for it. Dedication and patience is key.

Edit: Signia should apply for Yoshi SA. People need to know there's someone here to represent Yoshimitsu. Granted I would like to be one, but not until I prove myself offline.

So I'm having trouble trying to RCC out of iMCF and iFC3K. I'm suppose to press 6 during the recovery of those moves, right? I'm not recovering fast enough to get the 3B follow up for either of those. This means I'm doing the RCC too slow? I'm trying to push 6 as fast as I can. Any tips or advice? Also, I'm getting the hang of a:b+k but I was wondering if it's a 1 frame slide input like iMCF

tap 6 after you MCF or FC3K. Yoshi should then dash forward at a certain timing. The moment the dash animation begins is the correct timing of your next attack.

I fail iMCF far more than I fail a:B+K, so I'm pretty sure a:B+K is not a 1 frame slide. The key is to make sure you're not holding A when you hit B+K.

So i finally learned to do 1K JF series last night.

It's almost the opposite (and slower) of 4A series.

4A tap..tap.tap.tap.tap

1K - tap...tap...tap...tap....tap

so, the last four on 4A are even, whereas it's the first four on 1K with the last hit slightly slower.

From my experience the first two inputs of 4Ax5 are spaced a little different and then the last three are even.

And a:B+K is pretty much all about removing your initial A input and netting the correct slide. I'd say the slide is 4ish frames so it is mildly lenient.

Is it really 4ish frames long? I mean, I get iMFK more than I get a:B+K (I blame playing alpha :P ) Oh well, better just keep practicing it then

Why god oh why does Yoshi have an option to give life to enemies

Not hard to avoid but sometimes on an off day you press right during one of those grabby face soul possession moves and go FUUUUUUUUU

It merely is a 50/50 risk.
I think it also provides a nice +13 regardless of gain or loss.

a:B+K is character specific without a wall and also leaves you at - frames on hit unfortunately. Good for showing off though.

The throw puts you at +13, so the free K is the equivalent of if you blocked a -13 move. They can't do anything to not get hit by it.

Do any of you try to a:B+K opponents while they are midair from an attack animation?
I suppose you need really fast reflexes, but I think it would look pretty damn fancy.

Kind of like if you smash Yoshi with a:B+K while they are about to strike down with SDGF B. If you can guess to when they are going to strike, a:B+K will hit them right out when they come down and you might feel pretty awesome. Impractical, but kinda cool.

I wonder do any yoshi's here do 214 A+G on the fly? I actually substitute that grab with his regular A throw since yoshi has a very strong throw game imo, Yeah sacrifices oki but you can already do that with his B+G throw. 65 damage throw with 214 A+G and B throw with 55 damage there a force to be reckoned with.
