SCV Yoshimitsu Q&A and General Discussion

What does every Yoshi think about 2B? I feel it's a nice poke that can help set-up for FC3K. I only use for occasional haha. Thoughts? Details?

For me 3K, 44A works surprisingly often.
Especially when I hesitate slightly after 3K (sometimes I do a slight backstep).

Usually I throw out iMCF after all of my pokes, so I think that's Y people might fall for it so often. They expect it & as soon as it registers to them somethings different they attack hastily and get smacked by Yoshi's Flag.

Btw, how many of you guys didn't know 66A BE 2nd hit can be stepped and punished instead of having to JG? I know it took me all the way until a couple of months back to figure this out lol, haven't seen anyone post this yet so might as well doublecheck if you guys have realized this before.

Interesting find, need to check this.

Thing is, nobody ever thinks of actively stepping it (fuck me, maybe I should spoiler that post haha, keep this info for Yoshi ears only!) The only people I've played against who I've seen actually making an effort to do so are ZanmeX, ShenYuan and DrakeAldan.

Yes, after the 1st hit of 66A BE, you can step the second one. Just don't step to Yoshi's left with Yoshi and use 22B. It does no damage goes right through Yoshi. Wanna punish with 22B? Do 88B instead. Will always hit Yoshi's right.

Imho, 33_99B is a good Yoshi punish in a mirror. Should a Yoshi scrub use a 66A BE outside of a combo(notably wall combos).

About 66A BE
I only use this move once in a blue moon. In other words, Pocky Yoshi thinks this BE and others are crap. I'd use them for a wall combo or something, but I utilize the meter for only GI and CE. That's my humble opinion.

It's the same with DNK also. U can sidestep the last hit & have enough time to 3B~watever you want.

actually you can just step the 66A BE and 3B into his UB nonsense lol. 88B leaves the opponent face forward where he/she can forward tech out of a possible 8A+BG; it guarantees a 2[A+B]~66 but then 3B is as reliable as you can get in a move. His BEs are well...mostly crap. I use 66A BE to catch step though, if the opponent is outside 3A/3K range. It does have other unorthodox uses - start game (CH) 66A BE>iMCF>RCC 3B>JF 4AAAAA rings out on every stage with an edge or low walls except Natsu/Viola/Raph's stage. Thankfully (for now) very few people realize it is steppable, and a number of characters don't have a good punish for it after JG (e.g. NM, Zwei). Not for spamming though, of course.

3A BE is punishable on all hits, but at least you can hit-confirm and choose when to stop it. Apart from step catching (with pretty lousy range, granted), under pressure it may sometimes be difficult to adjudge the difference between 6B and 3A-B. There're definitely a lot of better BEs out there and GI-CE is the best meter use for sure, but I tend to find myself sitting on a fair bit of meter, and the only thing I don't use in say, a first to 3 is 6B BE.

Pocky Yoshi agrees on the other parts chopped out since the logic is sound except this part. The lurkers have ears and eyes.

66A BE is still a 90+ damage step-catcher and beats TC. It's the tool to use when someone tries to space you out and do step-TC. It also rings out super far with the iMCF-launch followup, since Yoshi pushes the opponent really far in the time between the first and second hit of 66A BE.

I find myself just dashing in and using just doing 3A and CH confirming for the BE to catching ranged step, though. Spacing and frames have to be just right for 66A to be needed.

Just to get it out of my system: Yoshi's BE's are horrible.

That aside, Yoshi has issues with spacers. Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with spacers? Apparently ZWEI's and Astas are blowin' me up with keep aways.

Also, If anyone can share with me some punishers for whiffs from a sidestep, that would be nice! iFC 3B, 6B are what I find to be good punishers for whiffs.

Why aren't you doing 33_99B sometimes? You can step to the right of ZWEI and use 99B to get inside. It also helps to study the ZWEI match-up to know when to do it. Also switch it up between finishing the string or whatever.

2B for instance is a nice mid imho to end rounds if peeps think you're gonna 2K. I like the fact you can use FC3K after 2B, though I'd prefer to use it sparingly on competent opponents. Other than that, 2B puts you in FC for a nice FC3K if they step your 2B.

6B doesn't do much for me. Sure I could use it up close to bait them to attack only to iMCF for attacking me up close. Otherwise, it's just some nice poke to interrupt when close. I prefer 3K over 6B, but that's just my opinion.

I do love 3K, BB, AA, 2K, and 2B a lot though. They're usually my go to pokes when I know they're gonna space me. Mainly 3K, BB, and the sparingly used 2B.

But CH66B is not something to pass up if they were to backstep you. Free DNK combo.

Hope this helps.

How much health does Manji Blood Dance (2A+KAAA:A) cost and how much does the Bliss Stance restore?
Here you go. Click here to see the wiki.

That just says how much damage he does to his opponent, and that he enters bliss stance at the end of it.
But that answers neither of my questions?
Though I realize the damage to himself is probably equal to the damage he does to the enemy.
But the heal I can't figure out.
My health is always full in training mode, and I'm having trouble getting to that part in real battle.

I don't recall the exact value of how much you lose and heal, but I'm going to estimate a bit (I haven't touched SC5 in a while, so I will be off).
Seppuku in itself takes off almost half health, maybe around a bit more than 1/3. Adding 5 Manji Blood Petal spins will tack on another perhaps 1/4 health loss. So at the end of it, you may have around a bit more than 1/3 health. Again, this is an estimate.
I'm not sure if Bliss has an exact frame in the spin, but mashing will get it eventually. I find that the more spins you do, the higher your chances of entering Bliss. It is achievable by doing 1 Manji Blood Petal spin, but I find it much more difficult. Bliss should recover your Seppuku health loss and a bit more if I'm not mistaken. So maybe a bit more than 1/3.

Talks and rumors about a balance patch run across this forum.

I am wondering, fellow yoshis, what change do you want to see for yoshimitsu for the following patch?

You can be as specific (frame data) or just be straightforward.
