Not worth it. That fact that you can JG pretty much everything but grabs is bullshit.

Try Fenris.I said I like just guards and I cannot lie! You other brothers can't deny! When scrub walks in with a little itty bitty string, you get sprung!
I can't finish the rest haha xD
Viola at her finestBlaming online for not practicing to just guard is a pretty poor excuse.
Is there a video of just guarding a guard impact...because like... how?
I guess I could end open space movement with JGs since I'm just watching for whiffs anyway. But I'm not at all sure about JG into crouch or step. Sounds more awkward than less than useful. What about JG-duck? JG-Step? Step-JG?
Cool. I didn't know about these.Why don't you A+B+K stand-up JG?
Why don't you GI JG?
Have you tried hitting G as if it were a slide input? I don't know how anyone does it by tapping.I don't use JG because it actually hurts to do all the excessive tapping. My 34-year-old thumbnails can't take all this shit.
Guard impact's advantage is that it covers all hit levels, but it won't lead to guaranteed damage (unless opponent has no meter) and it will get you hit by slow launchers like Algol 44B. They both have their different rewards, but JG is a lot safer in comparison. I'd rather risk the 1K than a half health launcher. Also, viola can JG 4A+B+K.Just guard is worthless. Even if I know something is coming, I cannot do anything about it. There are attacks out there that simply are safe regardless if you just guard. The only solution to stopping an offense is GUARD IMPACTING. When will you assholes learn?
Yeah, I know, you can just guard the third hit in a string, the BE attack, the CE, whatever. I got it. On the flip side, what happens when you know the poke is coming? You wanna punish the shit out of it. You wait for it.....ever so hoping to get that BE attack counter string. BAM! The 1K. You hear the clink, you see the animation, you want to punish it with the greatest, most damaging combo possible. OH WAIT!! YOU CAN'T!
Just guarding cannot be as good as guard impacting. EVER. It's a frustrating, inefficient way to "stop" someone's tracks.
EDIT: I just saw your video, Fray. You know those guard impacts don't really guard impact everything. Those are specific impacts such as mids, thrusts, highs, etc. You can guard impact (4A+B+K) any one of those orb attacks and totally stop the momentum. Again, another reason why guard impact is the best.
I mean I've pulled it off a few times practicing, but only towards the most obvious of attacks. SF3rd strike parrying is way easier to manage in comparison.
learn to avoid moves first before depending on JG. i'd only reserve JG for stringsSo this topic is kind of all over the place. What's the general consensus? Is this something I should worry about learning for now? Or should I just focus on other defensive options first?
No, it forces your opponent into a situation where they have to spend meter or get launched. It also is easier to land and covers all the hit levels. JG also does not always grant you a launch when you guess correctly. If you all don't mind me asking, was there really a point in having guard impacts (that cost meter) in the game if Just guarding is superior? I mean doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of it's re-tooled implementation?
Thank you for your response, I'll take note of that. No, forces your opponent into a situation where they have to spend meter or get launched. It also is easier to land and covers all the hit levels. JG also does not always grant you a launch when you guess correctly.
