Soulcalibur VI General Roster Speculation Thread

SoulCalibur VI: which 3 characters do you most hope for?

  • A brand new character

  • Amy

  • Cassandra

  • Hilde

  • Hwang/Yunsung and/or Lizardman

  • Rock

  • Setsuka

  • Viola

  • Z.W.E.I.

  • Other: Abyss, Algol, Dampierre, Elysium, Leixia, Li Long, Patroklos, etc.

I'd say anyone with that status is safe as long as someone other than Daishi is in charge. Good thing that's the case.

Updated the OP. Now it's completely objective, with leaks being a section and confirmed being 100% confirmed. I think it's much cleaner this way.

If SC6 goes with SC1, SC2 and SC3, as I expect it to, we shouldn't be surprised with anyone from those games' rosters:

  • Cervantes
  • Hwang
  • Mitsurugi
  • Rock
  • Seong Mi-Na
  • Siegfried
  • Sophitia
  • Taki
  • Voldo
  • Inferno
  • Arthur
  • Astaroth
  • Edge Master
  • Ivy
  • Kilik
  • Aeon
  • Maxi
  • Nightmare
  • Xianghua
  • Yoshimitsu
  • Cassandra
  • Charade
  • Necrid
  • Raphael
  • Talim
  • Yun-Seong
  • Abyss
  • Night Terror
  • Olcadan
  • Setsuka
  • Tira
  • Zasalamel
  • Valeria
  • Miser
  • Greed
  • Amy
  • Hualin
  • Lynette
  • Revenant
  • Algol
  • Hilde
  • Ashlotte
  • Kamikirimusi
  • Scheherazade
  • Shura
I didn't include Chronicles of the Swords mode characters, because they're kinda separated in the story. And, obviously, I don't expect every single one of these to appear, though its not really impossible. Those characters are colored as officially confirmed, leaked or deconfirmed.

EDIT: Added characters from SC4 as well, except for Angol Fear, since she belongs to the Sgt. Frog/Keroro Gunso franchise, despite her debut in the Soul series.

Bandai Namco's website confirms that SC6 takes place in the 16th century. This means that the Pyrrha and Patrokolos could be no older than 11 and 10 years old, respectively.

Might this indirectly deconfirm the two? I seriously doubt we'll see 10-year-old children on the battlefield.

They might not even exist. Sophitia's profile makes no mention of them or Rothion for that matter. Makes me wonder.

Yeah, you're right. Now that I remember, Sophitia and Rothion didn't get married until the END of Soulcalibur 1.

Since SC6 takes place DURING the events of Soulcalibur 1, wouldn't this mean SC6 takes place BEFORE Pyrrha and Pat were even conceived? I'd say they're 99% deconfirmed at this point.

Are we factoring in that poll Namco did awhile back asking us to vote for our favorite character?
Talim got first place.
Taki got second.
And Mitsurugi got third.
Here's the top 11.

Sophitia was ranked 11th and already confirmed. The chances of everyone above her being in the game is like 98%.
Entire poll.

Indeed. But I won't put them on the confirmed list until it truly is confirmed. I got to look at this objectively, but it's looking pretty good so far.

SCVI is a reboot.

The poll mattered. Kilik is not a mimic anymore and Xianghua is back to being very overpowered.

Not yet. I still have to hold on to the 100% confirmed rule, or at least until they're leaked. It's just standard practice.

I know that in SCVI Taki's moves aren't going to matter anymore and Setsuka IS COMING BACK.

Well if it's true that this takes place/ retcons Soul Calibur I then maybe Hwang has a shot. I mean he's like 23 or something on the poll and thats great compared to the whole SCV roster bar viola. But I won't get my hopes up blindly. Project Soul will never break my roster loving heart again!

I looked back at previous games to see how many characters they had in total:

SE: 11 characters + 1 boss
SC1: 16 characters + 1 boss + 1 mimic
SC2: 20 characters + 1 boss + 3 guest characters + 2 bonus + 1 mimic
SC3: 23 characters + 1 boss + a ton of bonus characters using CAS movesets + 1 mimic
SC4: 25 characters + 1 boss + 3 guest characters
SC5: 23 characters + 1 guest character + 3 mimics
SC Lost Swords: 17 characters

I wonder if ~23 characters is what we can expect as character count. Maybe less since this is somewhat of a reboot and it's the first game for this console generation.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like SC2 and SC3 where they include a bunch of bonus characters with small movesets to increase the roster size and include a few more fan favourites who would normally not be included.

Personally I'd rather bring back 1 newcomer from SC5 over 3 half-assed half-complete moveset bonus anime characters. Personal opinion though.

I think the characters in Lost Swords, not counting the ones from V, are the ones with one feet in. But we need a roster size to have any real idea, I do think a least one more Alexandra might be in the game. Otherwise, Ivy and Cervy are two safe bets
