Ramus
[14] Master
The weapons that common characters use are particularized as theirs because in SC, unlike most fighting games, they give themselves the freedom to make new costumes, as long as in theme, to old characters.Tell me again how Flambert is important or particularly iconic.
If weapons don't change because they are iconic- why then do the most iconic, imp
ortant weapons in the franchise(Calibur and Edge) always change? Them transforming for new users are not an excuse when they've been used by Siegfried and Nightmare for the vast majority of time.
Raphael using a rapier is more important than using a specific rapier.
Even characters that are meant to replace old ones get new weapons for that very reason, when you think of Sophitia you will think about her, yes she had many design changes, all in theme, but you also think about a blue shield with golden angel wings in them. Weapons are important for a character in Soul Calibur because they can easily show their essence. In other fighting games however they usually have one iconic costume, which is their character signature.
Cassandra is yet another good example, when people think of Cassandra the pink shield comes to mind before her original one, because it is more iconic to her.
There are, of course, exceptions, but in general a lot of one character identity comes from their weapon.
Algol is a boss character, that is his identity, in fact it is so painfully generic it hurts , he got this and this and this and thing, but other than making him a boss character it doesn't do much else.
