The only thing thats foolish at this point is
1. arguing that Siegfriend is unique enough without his stances to include him with Nightmare who now has those moves while:
2. Namco is launching with a small roster of no clones

I dont know why you want to argue about this.
GreatOne asked the discussion to be moved here.

1. Stances can in fact be merely an aesthetic choice, the move that follows it up is what it matters, the same way they retweeked Nightmare in his earlier version, is not impossible for Sieg to have the same work done.
2. Namco is launching with a over 24 characters roster according to their interview with that french site when the select screen was first informed and that it would have more characters than V.

Also, Namco always does the bullshit "no more clones" thing before every game why do you think no one was believed in Tekken 7? Because we got Jin, Devil Jin, Kazuya and some even argue that Heiachi bears similarities to those three and even so they said Anna was out due to being a clone.

Thanks for those that answered my post in the other thread but I'll move over to this thread when discussing Siegfried.

On the topic of Siegfried; I think his chances are good and both him and Nightmare are still different enough to warrant them being separate characters. Nightmare having some of Siegfried's stances makes sense seeing as they are both the same person, but I still don't think it deconfirms Siegfried. However, at this point I feel like it's kind of useless for me to talk about Siegfried's chances right now mainly due to the fact people are just going in circles and arguing and we won't know anything new for a while. So, this'll be my last post about it until we get some new info.

So I had a thought about a month ago how they could keep their current design of their circular character selection screen and yet, at the same time, allot for more characters, as they claimed we would have more than 20 slots at launch, with, according to leaks, possibly 10 or more DLC. And I came up with this, as a rough design, something I threw together at work with Microsoft Paint, crude though it may be, it gets the point across:

The way I'd see this working would be that it would launch with the "square" on the inside, which would be 24 slots.
Of course, this doesn't actually mean 24 characters, because we have to have a slot for custom characters and a slot for random character selection, so that drops us to 22 slots. Dedicate one more slot to the planned guest character(s), and we're down to 21 slots. 21, where have I seen that number before? Oh! Between confirmed, high chance, and leaked characters from Hayate's most recent roster speculation video. That works out pretty perfectly. That would then leave the 12 slots around the border to be used for DLC characters, and if we used up every slot, we would come to a grand total of 33 slots for characters. It could very well be possible, with DLC, that we have a full roster of just about everyone.

Combine that with what would appear to be specialized positioning based on relationships between characters, parallel:

I've borrowed the color coding from Hayate, for Confirmed, High Chance/Leaked, and Low Chance/DLC.
I then arranged the characters in the best parallel configurations that I could come up with, and, surprisingly, I feel like it mostly lines up perfectly with everyone having a proper pair, one way or the other. I did add Algol and Dampierre as possible characters, too, since they could be worked in as DLC as well, though instead of those two, if we have platform-specific guests, those two slots could be the guests for the other two platforms other than the one you're playing on. Or the guest character slot could be a menu like the custom character slot would be.

I think Nier himself would fit SoulCalibur better than 2B. The older version of him could be his 1P, while the younger is his 2P. The library could be stage with a version of Song of the Ancients as the background music. I could also see him using a Soul Charge, too... [Massive Nier spoiler]
...by transforming into the Shadowlord

My choice for guest would be Aranea Highwind from Final Fantasy XV. Female guests are really lacking, and she'd make a fine choice. Her Soul Charge could result in more aerial combos, and her Critical Edge, of course, would be her signature attack, Highwind. She's already got 1p and 2p costumes, too!

I'd just like to mention that both Kingdom Hearts 3 and the FFVII remake have been underway for quite some time and may come out this year. Given the recent partnership between Namco and Square Enix, having Cloud or Sora as guest characters is actually a realistic scenario this time around. I don't particularly care for either character, but it absolutely could happen.

Aranea is bae ♥

I have mixed feelings about 2B. Design-wise, she wouldn't look too out of place, but her moveset is a little too....futuristic? I know she wields swords and what not, but you know what I mean.
And I gotta say, if the choice was between Cloud and Sora, I'd have to pick Cloud. Sora would just stick out like a sore thumb.

Never played FF15, but Aranea seems like she'd be an awesome choice.

Arya Stark or Eileen the hunter would be my picks for female guest characters. No one from FFXV, please. Don't want characters from a garbage game tainting my Soul Calibur.

With the recent leaks and reveals here my new speculation about Soul Calibur VI roster: (It's said that the final roster will include around 28-32 characters)

1. Groh
2. Mitsurugi
3. Sophitia
4. Kilik
5. Xianghua
6. Nightmare
7. Siegfried
8. Ivy
9. Cervantes
10. Maxi
11. Astaroth
12. NEW male character
13. NEW female character
14. GUEST character
15. Taki
16. Voldo
17. Rock
18. Seong Mina
19. Hwang or Yun Seong
20. Yoshimitsu
21. Lizardman
22. a MIMIC character or a new mimic
23. Talim
24. Tira
25. Raphael
26. Zasalamel
27. Setsuka (dlc)
28. Algol (dlc)
29. Hilde (dlc)
30. Cassandra (dlc)
31. ZWEI (dlc)
32. Viola/Amy (dlc)

I place first the characters who appeared in Soul Calibur 1 because the story takes place during the events of the first Soul Calibur, so I guess that they'll return all! I put ZWEI and Viola too because their styles are new to the series and I hope to see them in Soul Calibur VI as DLC. I really hope for this roster and I don't want to be disappointed again just like SCV!
P. S. Question: Guys who do you think that will be the final boss...? Inferno? or a new boss character?

Thoughts:

I hope Ivy is cohesive and Viola is in.

I can't even being to think of what Grøh's Father will use if their organization has the Aval Twinblade style as their signature.

I don't have much to say about guests but I hope it's a woman. But I (personally) don't care much beyond that since guest characters are a temporary thing in a series and specifically for Soulcalibur their style is unavailable for customs.

Hwang would be nice but he will probably get the shaft.

If Xianghua can be given some new life for her moveset, there's some hope for the rest of the more elaborate characters.

Which doesn't prove squat.
It's more 50/50 considering that they've done this twice before with Siegfried/Nightmare, and this is the second time they've "narrowed the roster down". However, they aren't overconfident and slightly possessive in their creations like Harada is, and this could very well be a fanservice game.

EDIT: Okay, they've only done this once with Siegfried/Nightmare (SC2), so obviously I am wrong about this one. He'll be in this one for gameplay alone, and will get the Injustice 2 Joker treatment in the story.

The story is set to cover SB - SC3 if the leaks are believed so it's perfectly acceptable to have Siegfried as a character because ultimately Characters > Lore. Also Pyrrha/Omega being in the same game etc.

Maybe it's just me and my hopes being let down with Namco's fighting games having a substantial amount of single player content when SC4, SC5, and Tekken 7 were released, but I don't see how SB-SC3 could work in the grand scheme of things, and especially with their limitations in aspects other than gameplay. SB-SC1 should be a more qualitative choice for them, or at least from the battle against Cervantes in SB to pre SC2.

That would give Seigfried, in particular, his moment. Otherwise, he would be like Joker in Injustice 2, or the Edenians and Shaolin Monks in MKX.

That's unless they actually go back to the traditional story-based Arcade mode.

27 slots and no Mi-Na?
BOOOOOH!

Edit:
I'd rather axe Dampierre, Siegfried(who i think is axed already, with Nightmare having his looks and some of his moves and stances) or even Cassandra.
Also Lizardman please, not winged, but unable to Crawl Aeon Calcos.

Edit2:
Also that's just my personal opinion and i really dislike Dampierre, to me he's useless like Dragonball's Mr. Satan.

"Good Character" is just a matter of opinion i guess.
Sorry for booing at your list, you're entitled to your own opinion of course.

It might not be a super popular move, but if they can't find a place in the story for the Koreans, all three of them may be DLC.
I’m thinking this might be the case for them, especially since they haven’t made much of an impact on the SC storyline.

Even if they do appear in the story they would honestly just end up being filler fights.
