Why are you exaggerating ? Reading the posts in this news thread its about 25/75 thinking this is boring at most, not the 100% that you claim as "Everyone".
Pretty much a foregone conclusion — can’t think of any other major franchise with a widely recognizable protagonist and a release within the last five years or so that could possibly qualify. I’m glad they didn’t take the low road and go with Tekken guests or characters from some weeb game no one’s ever heard of.

It's more like 75/25. And "everyone" can be used to mention a majority, not necessarily everyone.
In the witcher game this symbol is called "Igni" which is basically a flame spell that spreads like wildfire.
I'm not familiar with this game, but does the triangle on the PS4 controller play a special role in the game?

It just baffles me that there are quite a lot of folks that are disapointed with that choice. Not that I have anything to do with someone's potential character prefferences but I even came across ideas that Nier, FFXV or even some anime characters would fit better which is just.... Uuh?

I'm fine with the witcher guy...any guest charecter would have been whatever to me. Bamco could have announced Mickey Mouse and I would have been cool with it.
Well, obviously, the best guest character hands down would be Knight Solair (or any Dks char). Being both a Bamco character, fitting of theme, and with Dks remaster coming out. I'm really shocked we didn't get Sun Bro. I hope CaS can remedy that.
Considering that none of the DS characters are even remotely as recognizable or popular as Geralt it shouldn't be a surprise. Still it doesn't mean they won't add anything DS related as a bonus tho personally I kinda doubt it.

Not sure what you mean by that? Do you want to argue that Geralt is not popular nor recognizable? Or that he is less popular than DS characters? Cause it is kinda unclear
My point is that Geralt doesn't have an Amibo. Which isn't a serious point, but it's still notable that Solair is that popular now.

Seems like a valid point. Tho personally I don't find it as a problem. Didn't played Witcher nor AC (except for the first one) and found them as a nice addition. Definitely better than some unfitting stuff like SW characters or potential anime ones that were rumored as a possibility
