Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Why would Soulcalibur be competition for RDR? They're completely different games with completely different target audiences
ok... but business does not react based on just that... in strategic terms no one wants their products competing for attention with RDR or GTA for example!!! you lose advertising space in all media! you lose space on exhibition and sales in store shelves, promotional website banners etc. It's too bad for marketing, no matters the kind of gamer you want to get.

I could understand that if there was a plethora of big name games coming out at the same time eg September 2016 but I'm only aware of one or two big name games coming out around autumn time. Idk about the rest of the world but here in England, video game shops have enough shelves to exhibit more than just one or two different new games at once. SC6 so far is also doing really good at getting its name out there to its target audience so I wouldn't be worried about it releasing close to a completely unrelated game.

I belive you... in my country we have enough shelves to exhibit more than just one or two different new games at once too. however is hard to admit, but no one can compete with Rockstar on marketing! You will lose space like I said, even your distribution can be impaired sometimes! and we have another question... the better your product can sell, it will always seem like a failure in comparison with Rockstar games! No one wants this!
We often see that in the cinema industry... movies choosing dates to not come next to blockbusters, even if they are for completely different audiences

note that we are only talking about assumptions
RockStar is famous to delay their releases dates for several times
and we just dont't know anything about dates by namco

Even unrelated genres can eat each others' sales. A large reason Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 bombed so hard is because it launched like a week after Modern Warfare 2.

If you want SCVI to sell well to casuals, you can't have them be distracted by Pokemon, RDR2, Smash, or any other major release in the same time frame. August to early-September is probably the best time for the game to launch.

xxoAceoxx from reddit post also confirms that there will be a Premium Edition and Collector's Edition.

Why the fuck is the Season Pass $40?

If that prices are true... I assume that we will have between four / six DLC characters in that pack

Even if it was true, that says nothing about a season pass or other-wise. Plenty of premium/collector's editions exist for $80-$100 solely for artbooks, OSTs, special cases, and other minor things. Safe bet maybe, but anyone's guess really. SC never has had a season pass, though that could just as well change. Just a thought.

The informations I did gather about a release date were talking about at least after september... did they changed their mind? If it's the case, that's a bad news, the game will be rushed.

Funny thing : I did heard this 10 days ago so... maybe I got fooled. Wait and see next days.
I've heard early Sept from three different people, from three different continents. The MS date seems highly unlikely.

For $40, it better have at least 8 characters. SFV's SP is priced at $5/character, and those characters are all made 100% from scratch. At least half of SCVI's will def be ported from older games, so that price value should be even better.

For SFV it's a character, their premium costume, and without even counting a story costume that can earn with fight money. So technically 1 character plus 2 of his unique costumes.

Tekken 7 season pass was a rip off. I hope Soul Calibur 6 will handle it better in that way.

I didn't even remember the extra costume since they just added those this season. That makes the price even better.

As it is, September wouldn't be the worst thing ever IF they release in the last week of September, which currently has no games confirmed for releasing during it.
That's not to say that can't change, because there's still something like the Nintendo factor to consider and something like Sma5h possibly launching that month to coincide with Switch's online service. But Bandai Namco and Nintendo are buddies, so I think they'd be cool enough with eachother to not compete with eachother like that for a release date/release week and would keep eachother in the know to not occupy the same space.
And as I said in my last post, there's a high chance SCVI's release got bumped up for some reason, and September or early October probably would be what that means instead of November around December.
It still worries me what that means in terms of what will be cut content to "compromise" being bumped up though.

I totally agree!!! We've been waiting for years... What is the problem of waiting a few more months if that means to having a complete final product?
Exactly. I'm happy to wait several more months as long as they continue to show us previews and teasers throughout that time to keep us hyped. The wait would be agonizing but worth it in the end if we get a complete game with lots of content.
