Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

JG was a great defensive tool, i would rather choose JG then RE.

Good, but janky

JG was amazingly stupid.I'm also glad it's gone.Maybe you should start playing everything before SC5 and eventually you will appreciate old mechanics.SC5 is disgrace.

JG sacrificed GI. RE doesn't sacrifice GI because a well timed GI gives you meter in SCVI. I know RE gives the most meter faster than well timed GIs & Lethal Hits.

With the return of the good old Guard Impact, JG become useless.

RE is JG like when absorbing multiple hits of certain strings.

Not at all, if you open up an enemy with a GI he can answer with a GI.

Guard Breaks in SCVI crush GI & RE causing Lethal Hits.

RE is an OVERALL better defensive tool than JG.
Firstly, it just looks novel...more sword fighty, whereas JG was a literal parry from 3rd Strike lol.

Its noob friendlier and can be punished hard and easily because of it. While it doesnt grant as dramatic an advantage (or almost any besides the initial hit) as a GI (which takes more sill to be considtent with) its made valuable by the amount of meter one can gain from it.

Its also quite cinemate which is......cool.

No boy...THE BEST Ivy player in SC3 era and top 3 overall !!!

LOL BOIII ...

But sure i though as well he was the best from what i've seen, but still debatable tbh, there weren't much world tournaments in SC3, and i'm not sure Linkrkc ever played some other outsiders Ivy players from Europe, Asia ect. That's why i'd rather go with "one of the best" than saying he was the best (which could have been the case of course, but quite hard to absolutely confirm such a state.)

JG is very good, but not to the point of being broken. It's not difficult to perform, but I like how it rewards skilled players and if you're able to utilise it well, then you deserve to have an advantage. It doesn't eliminate mind games at all. If you're expecting someone to JG, then simply change the timing of your attacks, don't do entire strings unless it's a counter hit and use low/grab mixups. You just have to be unpredictable and try to make them respect your playstyle. In contrast, RE seems like a bad mechanic to me. It's specifically made to help beginners who fight against more experienced players, but this defeats the purpose when you can so easily step and even interrupt the strike. And in high-level play, it would be far too risky to use. There may be certain situations where RE can be useful, but if the negatives outweigh the positives, then neither newbies nor pros are really going to benefit from this.

I will miss JG in SCVI. GI is useful, but it doesn't look quite as cool and I feel like matches will be less intense without JG. And never again will you be able to do crazy stuff like JG'ing the first hit of AA, then ducking and punishing, or JG'ing and interrupting follow-up attacks. Quite a shame.

Unblockable attacks in SCV were a bit of a non-factor in my playstyle ever since I found out neither Pyrrha nor Pyrrha Omega had Sophitia's 11_77A[A].
