Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

The agonizing wait to see if your main is in the game. It's hard to not get you're hopes up, I wish they'd put me out of my misery already and reveal if Cassandra is in or not. If she isn't i'd at least have time to get over it instead of being salty when the game releases, souring my enjoyment of it.

Let me stop you there for a moment. "Confirm" means to establish the certainty of something. Saying something "seems to confirm" something else is like saying "I might be 100% certain." I don't mean to single you out, because I've noticed a lot of people seem only capable of using the word "confirm" to talk about the hints we've been getting. How about these alternatives?

"Spear and Axe seems to suggest Astaroth."
"Spear and Axe implies Astaroth."
"Spear and Axe increases the possibility of Astaroth."
"Spear and Axe is a clear indication of Astaroth."

Have you noticed that that's a trend with the timeline? For example: Maxi being incredibly active around the time of Soul Edge, but then not having anything to do during SoulCalibur. That don't make no sense. As others have said, much of it is probably just a placeholder.

Algol is just as useless, if I had to choose between a guest, Algol or that idiot Dampierre I'd reluctantly choose Damp as at least he's CaSable and thus had create a dumbass potential.

Addendum: Actually I think I'd take a guest character over Algol as at least the guest character has a potential to be more interesting them some weirdo who fights by ripping his rib cage open, sitting on you by teleporting with a giant stone thrown and shooting bubbles all over the place all while trying to have a serious demeanor and pretending he can be taken as a serious character despite his moves better fitting some kind of sadistic weird demon clown.

Addendum 2: Actually now I want Algol to become CaSable got a great idea for a weird sadistic demon clown.

Dampierre as a character is relatively harmless. No one complained when he was introduced in SC: BD, because he was an addition to an already large roster. The problem with his inclusion in SCV was that he came before important characters, like Zasalamel, Cassandra, Setsuka, and others. Not to mention that the bottom roster was bad enough to kill all hype for the game. As long as they don't put him before any important characters, he could be some dlc character you can get on a whim.

As far as Algol is concerned, I also don't think he should be in this game. He was fine in SCIV, but repeating him as the final boss in SCV with little story reason to justify it was a bad move.
 
The question that I think needs to be answered is if this Bonus character is really a bonus character. To me a bonus character is someone who shouldn’t be missing from the main roster. The only people applicable, therefore, are people with little to no story integration.

Then they really shouldn't have a "bonus" character if everyone else isn't represented yet.... I guess could use Voldo as a bonus character, story wise there not there no big difference and is a big deal to many.

I totally agree, which is almost why i don’t like the idea. I mean hey i always love more content, but the idea of a bonus character just seems kind of weird. It’s a wait and see kind of deal though.
 
There are so many characters who have priority over Dampierre that it feels wrong to even consider him at this point. 23 characters at launch (24, with the bonus character) is the shortest we've had since SC1. Characters like Raphael, Cassandra, Seong Mi-Na, Setsuka, Hilde, Yun Seong, and Amy/Viola are way more important.

I hope there's a spear, no weapon better represents the success of man than the spear which has been in use and seen success from our humble beginnings to even present day. It's safe to say mankind would not, more than any other weapon, be where we are today without the invention of the spear.

Swords on the other hand are and have primarily been a side arm used mostly when the spear or it's like is lost through most of human development. Yet spears are most ignored while swords get the spotlight... Kind of as absurd as how much the wild west get's attention compared to other time periods despite being naught but a barely noticeable drop in the bucket of history.
 
Going to miss Viola’s style but wasn’t she considered broken? Maybe it’ll be CaS only? Actually wonder if there’s going to be any styles exclusive for that.

And X’s peace sign is annoying since I want to make a badass with a cutlass. Can’t have an epic win without him posing like Sailor Moon.

Also I thought that since Tales of Vesperia is getting remastered, we might get Yuri Lowell as the guest or it could be 2B or even Ciri.

I'd like to use Yun-Seong again, I miss that Chinese Sword style.

People keep mentioning CaS only styles. I only ever played the first game and 4 and 5, so I missed 3 which had that. Does anyone really think that could be coming back as a thing? Then again I guess five had that one style from Tekken that would be an example of such a thing.

Chances of CaS only styles?

5 had CaS only styles. One of them was Devil Jin, that was a weird addition.
