Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

For example, many people like the Swedish herring with jam.

I am sorry, what now??

Damn, I got nothing to show for the 1998 glory days of SoulCalibur I.... except 2 official Japanese books. I wish I had a video of the first beta version that came to the arcades or even some footage of a tournament, alas.

Scan those books if you can. Always interested in official information.

AT SRK forums, they are doing a massive task of compiling official information with the help of translators from official guides, artbooks, games, etc, to help unify the lore:

I wish the same were done for SoulCalibur, and maybe use the wiki for it here on 8wayrun.

No offense, but I don't like your "sense of taste " too much. :P
Talim's SC4 1P outfit was the only decent one she has.
Cassandra SC2 1P outfit is a perfect example of awful design in a videogame.
Good thing you are not working on this game.
I believe you're talking about the Barong Tagalog and mestizo/mestiza culture, and in both cases, the Spanish had a hand in implementing both when they colonized the Philippines for a period of time. However, if that were the reason behind those stylistic choices for Talim, they're poorly represented...especially considering Talim comes from a tribe whose way of life was being threatened specifically by the encroaching Spaniards lol (hence her being the last priestess of the wind).
Lol I need to get my history lesson knowledge in shape XD. I mean I did know that the translucent attire had to come at a latter time to which, what you said, Spanish influence. Not sure if Project Soul will get anything as close to accurate in this game right when it comes to her outfit. Just as long as there is no see-through anything and I am good.

Lol I know...didn’t mean legally, just that it wasn’t mentioned much either. I know video games copy each other, it’s too bad they do.
There's only so many archetypes and styles that are completely original. It's impossible to not have any overlap. It's good, because that way the industry improves rather than stagnates.

I wish we could get Bloodborne Hunter as DLC :(
It wouldn't work because Bloodborne is PS4-only, and the guest would have to be available across all platforms. They could get Knight Artorias or Dragonslayer Ornstein or Steelheart Ellie or Creighton the Wanderer if they wanted, though.

I'm not going to argue with you on something that's solely based on opinions as I can easily see things going into a loop and that's a waste of time for all involved.
I'm just going to say I completely disagree and end it there.
You're right. Indeed is just a personal opinion (mine and yours), no need to argue ;)

Good thing you are not working on this game.
I'm really glad you don't work on it too ;)

Oooohhhh boy here we go again... On a different note besides the glorious Talim rhetoric that's been going on as of late, any thoughts and opinions of new game mechanics that we might see or would like to see? I liked the implementation of the quick step was awesome in sc5 and i liked the i guess repel was it in sc4 the mechanic that you kind of pushed the opponents weapon to the side when they almost made contact with you. Idk i just wanted to see some other mechanic and playing features make it in beings though its only 4 months away i guess its safe to assume that that's it as far as added game play mechanics go? I get it that they want to cater to the masses that's the casual but nice to also have something for the more tech savvy guys too no?

I was watching all characters trailers, and Zasalamel's was easily one of my favorite, reasons:

- We didn't see him since a while.
- Back with a very fresh new look.
- Has a tons of new stuffs.
- His CE is super original, and it even surpass some of the best CA in 2D games.

But something weird in the last build is that his skin is less black and more white, which is weird, dunno what's up with that.

Beside i haven't seen yet his 8+b+k yet (not sure about the command but i think that's it), did someone catch that move in one of the footages?

lol bro i was like talim rederick? is there some lore or information im missing lmao. all good bro. thanks for letting me know!
No brother but i as well have a feeling that they most definitely will cater to the masses and will finally include her its been awhile since the other games so shes about due (no) leaks or concrete facts on my end but its obvious at this point with the fan polls and the Director himself making coy comments on twitter he knows you guys want to get your paws on this character and dominate evo 2019 with her LMFAOOOO excuse me.

i have a feeling she is going to be really fast in her SC with wind mechanics and gonna have absurd crazy mixups. october 19th is so close yet so far. i wouldn't be able to wait for it next year lol

If shes going to be fast i can imagine my boy CERVY. I hope he has a super flashy and fast iDGR his sc4 1A and WR AK i think the move where his rising with strike and coming back down with strike. awesome move and his teleport and back turnt back stabs. 3B is life for cervy players and death for others that's a given and a bare necessity. only dreading them making some of his main moves only accessible while in Critical Edge.

I would like quick step back, it was part of my bread and butter strategy with mitsu. It was also really helpful for fighting the max level so without exploits XD. Also, I hope to GOD they fix the ai difficulty, because the difference between normal and hard is stupid, but the difference between easy and normal is almost unnoticeable, as is the difference between hard and very hard. Also FUCK astaroth's cheesy throw spamming on v hard in V. It's not even funny. Also I love how the scvi is looking

yes that's another thing forgot to mention and very cool mechanic the step back and dash not to sure if its in didn't really notice it i think bc this time around the movement is so fluid like, so i guess it is indeed faster then what we've been accustomed too. I don't want to sound corny but i did not mind the others players tools so much to the point i hated them. certain characters i just knew how to play the match up better then others bc i stayed in the lab (TRAINING_MODE) and learned all characters strings the bread and butters and tried to see what beats what with my character so in that regard im fine. I love challenges, only match up i found it hard especially with character pros is Taki/Natsu viola/yoshi due to there unpredictability, especially in the right hands. now as-long as every body has new tools and they retained there signature moves as far as the old cast with added moves to be able to contend then we should be fine. I haven't seen nobody un pleased at there characters so far. Also in regards to throws from what i gathered are very easy this time around to break. thank god bc i sucked in throw guessing.

That's a From Software decision to add preset characters to a playtest build, same thing happened with Bloodborne which is a Sony funded and published IP. You can't apply the same rules to a publisher and it's own first party studio.
There's no good reason to toss in single player content in a situation like that. Generally if they're doing a beta, it's to test netplay, and people fuffing around with single player stuff doesn't really help there.
