Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I would like "new" characters in the sense that I would like to see them take preexisting characters from the lore and fully integrate them into the roster. That way, PS can use the inclusion of such characters to elaborate on the lore they already have while introducing whatever weapons those sub-characters use as fighting styles (I am assuming their weapons might be tweaked or changed accordingly to make them fit well among the existing styles in the roster).

See this is a cool idea. For example, I liked Viola's playstyle in SC5 but t's obvious she will not be in this game since she's Amy 17 years in the future. So instead, I wouldn't mind seeing a new character (taken influence from Viola's 2p look, sorry just love that look lol) who uses her style or at least uses the concept of her style.

Alright, it might be a little too early to ask but since I'm sure SCVII will be less of a wait than SCVI now that there's no drama behind the scenes (hopefully), I figured I'd see what you guys think. Since this is a reboot and all, how would you feel if SCVII is where the timeline seriously diverges from the original and begins telling new stories? And with that, they introduce a ton of new characters that aren't replacements, but are still unique to the reboot.

I'm just thinking with this being a rebooted universe that starts with the SCI era, it makes sense that at one point they'll break off into a different setting. I highly doubt we'll ever jump to SCV era, though.

People were speculating about Grøh's papi recently so I'll reiterate what I know:
Grøh has "issues" with him.
He may also be Grøh's master.
He uses a new weapon/style and isn't replacing anybody.
He's one of the bosses in the storyline.
I know who is voicing him in both languages, but I won't say anything about that until after his reveal.

I'm dying to see Tira in SCVI, could @Vergeben give us some hints about her? c:
I don't know anything about how she'll look yet. I'm just as curious as you are since she always tends to have some of the most interesting and unique designs.

Who's Soppy??? xD
Was that a typo for Sieggy, by chance? Thanks to autocorrect, I bet :)
Omg I meant sophy hahahaha

Y'know what i was going to look in olders posts where you mentioned him, well guess won't have to do that lol.

Wow i actually forgot some of those details

And that's ... He uses a new weapon/style and isn't replacing anybody.... an awesome news:

Wonder what weapon he will have, maybe a weapon very imposing since he's a boss, i wonder if his weapon would be some weapon we've seen in Bloodborne. Also why not even that guy would have a Bloodborne look a like design, would make more sens since we know there won't be a Bloodborne Guest character.

Something that stood out to me recently was hearing he may also be Grøh's master. Which could mean he's either a different master of his, or he's that "Ozuru" guy that they listed as his master on his profile on the official website.
Okubo likes Star Wars as evidenced by Grøh being inspired by Darth Maul (his interview with Shoryuken had him trying so hard to avoiding saying who inspired him, but that "movies" were his inspiration and that you could easily figure out who) so maybe there is some kind of Star Wars-like plot twist that will happen will him and the revelation of his dad. lol

If they go with themes from later SC games, they could easily give Cassandra a substantial story role. One idea they pushed in later games was that both Soul Calibur and Soul Edge was evil, and from the get go Cassandra questioned if Hephaestus and Soul Calibur were good (in her SC4 ending, she destroys both Soul Edge and Soul Calibur).

I was also thinking of that.
Though, I dont think they wanted SoulCalibur to appear maliciously evil, just, that it controlled the user...like SoulEdge.

She certainly has more of a presence in the story than the Koreans (though I like Hwang and Mi-Na), Yoshi (tho hes cool), and even Raphael AFTER SCII.
Hell, in IV you could tweak one thing and make her the hero.

So, yes, Id like PS to give her more of a presence. Im thinkin she'll be in the game.

Hum the fact that he's Groh's Master would be a bit surprising considering that he won't have the same weapon? Or unless he'll have kind same weapon, or maybe he can use multiple weapon. Oooooooooor he actually trained Groh mainly for his martial arts and basics moves, then Groh learned himself how to use his weapon.

Yeah it's likely Okubu and his team like Star Wars, but tbh honest when he was talking about movies i also though about Some Swords movies. When you think about it many movies used that kind of slomo and 360 Matrix style camera and cie.

So i've checked Bloodbornes weapons, and while there are few that actually quite unique that can make it, i pick those that are the most unique i think, especially the first one that i think would work well for an aged male character and that is supposed to be a Boss and would have a heavy physic (like Rock for Example).

Of course there is nothing that confirms that he will be Bloodborne Based, i'm just speculating and i feel that could be the case. Actually Groh's weapon mecanic is a bit similar to a weapon in Bloodborne as well named "Rakuyo" It's bascially a combination 2 sword (or more precisely a dagger and a Katana)

Rakuyo.jpg

So i can see the father and son have similarities in mechanics like this (most Bloodborne weapons if not all are kind of split weapon, transform weapon ect)

@Macaulyn As i said above i forgot about some details by Vergeben, that's why i was looking at his old posts ;)

For some reason I kind of thought he’d have a mace (probably the size of ZWEI’s weapon) and set it on fire. Maybe he’d look like Eddard Stark as portrayed by Sean Bean? Groh’s outfit besides the futuristic stuff looks like the Night’s Watch uniform.

What was the drama? I've been out of the loop til...well, this year lol.

And yeah, I'd expect the wait between VI and VII to be less than 6 years. Will it go back to the 3-4 year wait? I suppose that sounds reasonable. Maybe if Namco wants to pull an NRS type of schedule and have a new Tekken and Soul every 2 years off each other. Tho since they're 2 separate teams (and NRS is just one), I doubt they'd really care to have some sort of developmental schedule rotation like that.

Tekken takes a long time, especially because they milk that sweet arcade money that SC doesn't deal with. Anyways, the drama is referring to the fact that Daishi quit (which is believed because he was pressured to given the Japanese business culture), and they went through several different producers (including Masaki Hoshino) before they got to Okubo and things seemed to have stabilized. Okubo specifically jumped at the chance to lead SC, because after Hoshino left Harada said the series will disappear if no one does anything.

Groh's dad is gonna be based on Darth Vader. Groh is Maul, Vader means Father, something something Star Wars Okubo something.

Also story relevance doesn't matter for inclusion and even if it did they're changing the story anyways.

So they're finally going to make an original fighter using a revamped version of Vader's style? That'd be cool.

Ian Sinclair?

Hopefully his style isn’t broken enough to be CaS-able?

But Verge keeps saying he’s not replacing anybody.

Sadly think other guests should have been Aeon’d like what the gecko did to Kratos.
