Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I like the idea of reworking the roster with their kids and pupils and such for a new rebooted setting and story personally. The principle of it is fine if there's a good reason for it and there's cool plans for them that wouldn't really have worked with the old characters.

The problem with SCV is that, due to nobody except Pat and Pyrrha getting more than a brief cameo in the story, we were never given any reason to care about the new characters and want to play as them beyond them being replacements. And in that case there's not really any point in them being there, if you're doing nothing interesting with the new character then just keep the old character around.

SF5 is the same way, SF's story has always been an unimportant barely around thing and Capcom fighters have no side modes or deep lore or whatever so why bother replacing them in the first place? If you're going to have a new character that plays just like an popular old one with barely any story reason behind it why not just keep the old one people already like instead of pushing some newcomer?

As much as I disliked Pat, I genuinely loved Pyrrha and was fine with her being Sophie and Cassie's "inheritor". In contrast to her Lawful Good mother, the whole idea of this emotionally broken wreck with severe abandonment issues being slowly corrupted by Soul Edge and her "best friend/mother figure" Tira (yeah) was honestly pretty intriguing. Shame V's story mode was gutted on arrival.

say, Raphael and Pat had a similar character did they not? Both arrogant, haughty, but I preferred the way Raphael did his. He had more honor.

Yeah tbh pyrrha omega is by far my favourite sc character of all time both is gameplay and personality. Kinda wishing she is dlc or something for sc6 but seeing how much most people hate her, it's really not going to happen.

All I want to see is Siegfried's Critical Edge finish animation but for some reason I cant find it ANYWHERE ! i saw everyones except my main :(

If I understood correctly, then most of you did not like the rejuvenation of the roster in SC5.
I will try to say a few words in defense for this idea.
One and the same ideas are gradually boring buyers, for this reason they require new stuff (new heroes, new battle moves, new battle stages etc)
For this reason, you can not eternal sell the same goods. The authors of the game understand this well, and decided to rejuvenate the roster.
And they are not the only ones who did this, the authors of another popular fighting game (Street Fighter 5) did the same - They replaced the old heroes with their younger counterparts.
For example: the old Blanca was replaced by a new Necalli, Abel was replaced by Ed, design of the Ken was very much reworked etc.
Most of the innovations and replacements of this game I liked, especially the alternative costume for Ed("young dictator"). Because Ed, like Abel, is a clone of Mr Bison, my old dream came true - to see what a Mr Bison was looked in his youth ages.
For these reasons, I do not see anything wrong and criminal with rejuvenating the roster and replacings in the SC5.
It's not the rejuvenating and replacing that's the issue, it's the poor job of it that's the issue.

Is it me or Taki VA is different? She sounds different when she speaks in her intro/outros.
It mostly still sounds like Cynthia Holloway from SC3 and 4 to me, but she does sound slightly different. She could just be approaching the character differently. Though honestly, if they had to recast anyone, I had hoped it would be Taki. Never did care for her English voice.
