Ivy Match-ups and Anti-Character strategies

Ivy Vs. Sophitia!

Thanks to Suirad for the update, here is some to look out for what TAS can go under. I just copied from that thread that I linked from my above post. On paper it looks bullshit, as most of SW's useful pokes are gonna get TAS under if the Sophie player knows what they're doing. Just dont go WTF when she TAS ur SW FC 3B, 22B, 3K or even WP 3A, 66B on some occasions.

Ivy:
SW 6A
SW 3A
SW WR A
SW 9A
SW BB &
SW 6B
SW FC B
SW FC 3B
SW 3K
SW WR K
SW WR A+B 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hit. Once you're "inside" the christmas tree hit 3 will whiff on standing unless she moves back
SW 9K
SW 6A+B $
SW 66A
SW 22A
SW 22B
SW 44B
CL 3A
CL WR A
CL 9A
CL 6B
CL 1B
CL 1BB+K One crouch goes under both hits, otherwise &
CL FC B
CL WR B
CL 3K
CL 1K
CL WR K
CL 9K
CL A+B
CL A+BA 2nd hit
CL 6A+B $
CL WR A+B 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hit. Once you're "inside" the christmas tree hit 3 will whiff on standing unless she moves back
CL 33A
CL 66BA &
WP 3A $
WP WR A
WP 9A
WP 1B Tip range, not very useful
WP 3K
WP 1K
WP WR K
WP 9K
WP A+B Both hits
WP WR A+B 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hit. Once you're "inside" the christmas tree hit 3 will whiff on standing unless she moves back
WP 6B+K Must attack before 2_8
WP 22A
WP 66B
WP 22K
WP 44K
SE A+B Doesn't work up close

! Also works if the previous attack hit
* Because of string timing only FC AS will/should work here
& Move can be ducked on whiff of previous hit, but not on block
$ Timing and/or Spacing are very strict
# TAS / FC AS don't duck so much as create off-axis whiff
~ Move is slow or telegraphed so (might be) reactable

Ivy Vs. Sophitia!

I always get confused on which stance i want. SW or CL? I avoid WP like the plague unless really far and that generally will on be used for very long ranged 6B+K _2_8 shenanigans or a needed combo piece. Really hard not to try to use 214 b when the CH is obvious...it's just nature.

My issue with SW is while it has better options, Sophie can play mid range and then force you to go CL...if you go CL then she gets in close and you want back in SW. Whiffing is very bad, so connecting at mid range is very important. but it's harder to fight turtles in CL i think, especially when they can duck every mid (CL lows suck!)

Ivy Vs. Sophitia!

LG: heh, I thought u were gonna post a giant essay on Sophie. Its a surprise u only had to say that little. lol

With CL, if it comes to worst, u still have 2B and BB. Tho one stepped CL B means painful punish. Tho with CL B, I wonder by how much more range does it have over TAS B's max range.

I am personally convinced that Ivy vs Yoshi is at LEAST a 4:6 disadvantage.

1. CL A+B A+K is stopped cold by Yoshi Reflection A. This pretty much means that unless you're sure that you will hit CL A+B, most if not all mixups are lost.

2. Yoshi has way more RO options than Ivy both facing and BT stage edge.

3. CS/SS and any combo starter is avoided by DF and Pogo, or at least rendered ineffective... and let's not get into the mixup/damage you eat should you miss a low on either stance.

4. iMCF beats SW 6B after a lot of Yoshi's moves (I think 2B being one of them IIRC). Nuff said.

Only thing Ivy has going for her is that FC 3K on block = guaranteed SW WR B damage.

All in all, Yoshi forces Ivy to play extra defensively, else risk getting iMCF-ed/mixed-up into oblivion.

On a side note: I just personally feel that Ivy is 3:7 against Voldo. Voldo 1K/BS 1A ducking under SW 1K = T_T

Voldo is just a friggin walking tech crouch. ><

The one I have most trouble with is Hilde. Staying in kissing range and in SW always isn't good enough.

Voldo and Yoshi will get me sometimes, but I can handle it most of the time.

Here's mine. I don't like using a 3:7 or a 7:3 rank unless I feel strongly about it one way or the other. I also left blank the characters I don't feel experienced enough to offer a qualified opinion on.

- Algol: 4:6 (wouldn't argue with a 3:7 if factoring in bubble infinites)
- Amy: 4:6
- Astaroth: 6:4

Thanks guys, I knew I could count on you two.

You play too much on Grand Labirynth stage =P

Actually Ivy has more of a chance in Labyrinth; at least her RO cannon has more of a chance of ringing out there as well. Kinda twisted thinking there, so it could be just me.

On any other average stage, Hilde can ring out from the (near)middle while Ivy cannot.

On a side note: I just personally feel that Ivy is 3:7 against Voldo. Voldo 1K/BS 1A ducking under SW 1K = T_T

Sora, Ive just tested 1K against Voldo's BS 1A. <snipped> BS 1A is evasive only on startup. So SW 1K needs to be delayed a bit to interupt. Or u always have 4K as your answer. 6 sometimes hits.

Against BS, If u do SW 2A on hit, ur alternative to WS K should be 4K, as even Voldo's BS 2A cannot interupt.
Against his 1B: (also super tech crouch and longer window.) also use 4K to kill that, most SW moves wont reach.
Against his BS A+B (move that autoGi B and A mid), use SW 6 bcos it cannot be aGIed.

4K is a must against Voldo in general as it TC really well and does 28dmg and KD.

Yup. Nothing can fix 1K from whiffing against BS 1A. Im just stating that SW 1K is not unusable at all. bcos Ivy players fear having their 2A to get aGIed by BS A+B, they need to resort to using good kicks like 4K. But 4K is still not on par with SW 1K in terms of frames. Tho Im here to say SW 1K is still useable and is useful at situations which are disadvantaged but closely neutral. I added in his other evasive moves while testing what Ivy can do in SW. BS 1A is not just an evasive move but an annoying "destroy ur options" move. Its there to kill any Ivy who does the wrong thing.

It seems like Ivy's toughest opponents are: Hilde, Algol, Voldo, Sophitia and Amy

It seems like, the chars I didnt rate automatically got a 5:5 by itself. Hmmm
Probably your old rates, like Setsuka's (it was already on the list before I began editing)

Oh and about Setsuka. I gave her 5:5 but sometimes it feels like it's 4:6... Her 33B destroys Whip state.

If only whipstate gets a better step, it has great post sidestep punishing moves and mixups. CL instant transition takes too long. :(
