Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I’m pretty badly obsessed with character select patterns or arrangements. So characters in the “wrong” slot really mess me up. Plus it kind of looks pretty to me.

What if we luck out before Thursday?

But alts in the story make sense. Siegfried was basically German Yun-Seong at first.

Yeah, but I don’t know why Taki is on the antagonist side when Mitsurugi has more interest in having Soul Edge than destroying it.

Also Talim possibly being in the middle (which I’m considering important characters tied to the swords and expected Raph beneath Geralt) throws me off. Likewise Voldo not being opposite Yoshimitsu. I can understand Tira opposite of Yoshimitsu at least but Voldo is pretty much on the side of Soul Edge and really can’t have a possible rival.

Unless if Talim is really in the middle, then it could be someone new or maybe Raph. Voldo’s enemies are really thieves (Salia?) and I don’t see him opposite Cervantes (who may be on top with possible Papa Groh.)
I could be wrong, but if I remember the arcade ending of four, he just kind of shrugs when told he can take the blade and says he doesn't need it. I always thought Mitsurugi represented the Japanese sword master who wandered the world looking for a greater challenge to test and prove his skill as the greatest sword master alive. I thought his whole point to seeking out the wielder of the sword was to prove he could defeat them even with the magic sword. To prove to himself his skill was beyond such magic. He's not really out to possess or destroy the swords, he frankly doesn't care about them, especially when he defeats the person that possesses it, proving to himself he has no need of such a weapon as he surpasses it already.

This lack of need or desire for either is further emphasized by his never having a soul calibur or soul edge version of his weapon in CaS. He just leaves the weapon and it's weilder defeated. He's really a neutral character.

But he could use Soul Edge in both 2 and 3... Not quite "never".

Watching the parts of stream that i missed so:

I don't know if he was joking or serious, but i almost vomit when Mark said he want Geese to make in SC6 ... erghhhhhhhh Disgusting...

In a good side looks like Aris is making a push for Setsuka too, now that's very great, let's hope she'll make it <3

I like to think it was their shot at slight character development. Initially he wanted the Soul Edge because as a fighter he couldn't handle getting his butt kicked by a rifle. Aparently all the battles leveled him up so much he decided he didn't need no magic anymore.

Edit: uh... ninja'd

"After facing defeat in a tournament, he imbued himself with an insatiable thirst for fighting techniques knowledge and became a truly great warrior"

Huh... Slight backstory change, or just a different way of describing his duel against Tanegashima? Anyways, I'm hoping they'll give Mitsurugi a little bit of character development this time. The whole "I wanna fight everyone" thing being his only character trait is really boring.
But regardless, he'll always be the best husbando.

very much a joke aimed at aris who isnt a massive fan of guest characters in tekken

I think in Soul Edge/Blade Mitsu’s fight with Tanegashima was a planned duel in front of a bunch a people. I even remember the QuickTime event at the end of his story mode where you dodged and moved forward to cut down that rifle wielding bastard.

Changes to the story are cool, though. I’m not bent out of shape due to tweaks here and there.

Side note: I’d love to see Tanegashima as a character. It’d be neat to see if Project Soul could work a rifle wielder into the framework of a melee based game.

Can you believe that I imagined a character who dual-wields revolvers and makes heavy use of gunpowder and explosives?

Bushido Blade did both a revolver and a rifle. It was perfectly balanced and not op at all (lies)
Yeah, but it was supposed to be OP and Unbalanced, which was the point. It was meant to be a realistic lethal fighting game. Dammit now I miss Bushido Blade again. In terms of fighting was more the style I enjoyed. Too bad it didn't pick up enough of a following for more fighters like it.

Teppou Hei (who wields a weapon called Tanegashima) could be a good character if his move set was a mix of melee and gunshots, like Magoichi Saika in the Samurai Warriors series.

Catira would be cool, but not as her standard P1 costume.

It’s still up in the air if there will be P2 costumes, but if they are going to be included (and I believe they are) why not go a bit wacky and give Tira a Felicia/Cham Cham outfit.
