Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Making a model for a mimic coast money, in fact considering it is a brand new model it was probably one of the most expensive ones since it isn't using any other one as a base, his very existence is a waste. I'm sorry I feel very strongly about the imaginable amount of dumb that must have gone through Project Soul to add a mimic in the first place.

For most of the time I feel like criticisms about this game were too harsh, but this is something anyone could tell them it was not a good idea.

I doubt Tira is pre-order even though she would be very appealing. I cannot see her and Cervantes missing from the base roster. Same goes for the new character which we have yet to see. I just want to believe that the size of the roster will increase and we manage to get all of the following: Setsuka, Amy/Viola, Raphael, Hwang/Yun, Hilde, Rock, Lizardman, ZWEI, Algol and Dampierre.

Hayate relieved me of the stress sweat. It just seems weird to be without a rapier user when one made it to V. And Rock may not return.

Still, I don’t doubt Lizzy. I already mentioned how nonsensical it would be for him to fight exactly like Sophie or even Cassie.

Just should be glad Mi-Na is back and Hwang seems likely to return.

Still seeing Mi-Na’s changes did leave me curious as to how Rock could differ. But not getting a unique CF and voice doesn’t help his case.

Just want the next reveal on a stream because as I was watching it I was getting excited to see Cervantes but instead I almost screamed in excitement when Mi-Na was revealed.

There is still a chance that :
- Cervantes is an unlockable (but he is a fan favourite)
- Yunsung being in above Seong Mina, Hwang being a clone (but there is more char who can interact with Hwang than Yun in this timeline)
- Rock being in because NewChar has no story mode because boss (but I found that very unlikely to not exploit a new char),

Most of thoses theories has been reduced with what I explain between ( ) .

Anyway the game will be out in 2 month, next char reveal will probably end the puzzle.

My personnal wishlist would be something like this :
SC1 char : Liz+Hwang+Rock => included at least playable char (not bonus clones)
SC2/3/4 char : Raphael, Cassandra, Yunsung, Setsuka, Hilde, Amy => in DLC would have more sense for fans and storyline content.

If Tira isnt in the base roster I wont know how to feel about this game. She can be included in the story in so many mischevious ways and she's basically soul's Harley Quinn. Not allowing her to mess with everyone is a bit of a lost opportunity?

I really don't understand people's issues with preorder bonus characters when they've been waiting for the game for months. Preorder sales really help a game and it's of no additional cost to you. Were you planning on waiting to buy the game until it went on sale? If you're excited for it and plan to play it early, just preorder.

If Tira is pre-order, I will definitely have to pre-order :O Even tho I don't really play her much. She has a must.

I was thinking there isn't a character heavily based on JF yet in SC6, so more chances Setsuka to make it in maybe mmmmmm

Cervantes is generally unlockable and was an SC1 console exclusive. Plus he might be in a top slot opposite Azwel/Papa Groh/whoever.

If he’s not in, I think Raph is the bonus because he might be used for a teaser in freeing Siegfried from being Nightmare in the ending.

If Mi-Na isn’t below Geralt, we’re far more likely to have a Korean swordie because of the select screen arrangement.

Inferno could go opposite of random or be between Kilik or Groh. Wherever he isn’t is where customs are. Last game they were in the bottom left.

some people prefer to buy the game after it's out and reviewed or at least the issues are known. this should be the case for most purchases IMO because pre-ordering games has encouraged exploitative strategies from publishers.

@Ramus What I'm saying is, it's not any additional resources. They had to make the model of Inferno for Xianghua to fight Inferno in the story mode anyway. They're just repurposing that same model to be used as a mimic outside of story mode. That's almost no additional effort whatsoever.

What you're saying is, you'd rather Inferno just be an unplayable boss, essentially. Inferno being the mimic is just unlocking him for play, he just happens to be a mimic. Would you rather that unlockable Inferno was just a Nightmare clone like Kamikirimusi but perhaps with a few extra moves?

I don't understand why you're so worked up about it. It would be different if we were getting Inferno AND Edge Master, so two mimics, like it was in SoulCalibur I originally, that would start being wasteful. But just Inferno is fine.

My prediction about the last 6 characters: Cervy, Tira, Groh's Dad, Raph, Lizzy, and Yun/Hwang

DLC: Hilde, Setsuka, Cassandra
Bonus: Edgemaster

I'd love to add zwei as I personally love the character and his playstyle but his chances aren't too high it seems lol

I'm not against a single mimic but we definitely dont need several. If they're smart, we'll just get Inferno to copy every weapon type, maybe a Soulcalibur type with blue crystals or whatever as a secondary outfit and that is it. Perhaps give us some options to select which styles randomly show up and i'll say at that point its sufficiently useful as a character selection.

The producers putting Tira, Hilde and Viola as DLC while Hwang, Rock and Lizardman make base game

I discovered the Soul series with the 3 my brother had it. I 1st played it there and Cervantes was my favorite my 1st main, I liked Raph too but cervantes, as just so much cooler to me. Then I bought it and the 2nd one and was kinda disappointed with Sc2 compared to the 3rd. I played Raph in that one for a while but didn't find it fun, a'd I picked back my man Cervantes for instant fun xD.
I always liked Raph's desing and weapon but never his style.

And then SC4 came and I kept playing Cervantes till I unlocked Amy and then I tested her.... And felt il love with her gameplay instantly it was exactly what I wanted, I played the game soo long (even Broken destiny) just because of her lol. SC5 cooled me a lot but but cervantes was there Viola had some of Amy's moves and was fun, but even with Amy gone Raph was still boring, cool looking as hell but boring xD

I almost share the same experience.

Unlike Raphael which has seen better times, Amy has been cool since her "debut" in Soul Calibur III. She is the shortest female character in the series but a fiercious opponent which proves size/age doesn't matter on that regard. Something rarely seen in fighting games.
She looks fragile but she could stab you anytime anywhere.

For not to talk when you play as her. You feel as if you could take down anyone. Even Astaroth doesn't stand a chance against her.

There is a lot more depth in it. Taken from the wikia:
Amy alongside Tira and Viola, are the only female "antagonists" in the Soulcalibur series, but Tira is a villain, whereas Viola and Amy are neutral characters.
Whereas Talim is alligned with the painfully-good characters.

I preffer those characters who do not have a obvious alignement. Because story-wise they can do whatever they want with those kind of characters. Starting from Raphael who was supposed to be a hero but became a villain. Maybe this time around they could change that.

After all, history hides more than one truth.

I would rather him to not exist, period. Making him a slightly modded Nightmare appearance wise would be better. It would be preferably to not have that slot at all in my opinion, it is a pointless thing to add in a game they didn't add much in the first place as far as characters go. For me adding a character to be a mimic is just bad management of resources, the time and money spent on him could have been used to make team battle a thing for example.

Thing is making a mimic character takes considerably less time and resources than making a new gamemode or whatever else. It's basically just some art assets and maybe voice acting thrown on top of already existing playstyles. It's something that can easily be done in spare development time, whereas other content is usually more of an investment. That's why we has 3 mimics in SCV - they probably didn't have time to develop any real new characters, but throwing together 3 mimics was no problem.

Maybe Inferno is what was said about those extra alts? But shouldn’t Cervantes also have an Inferno skin?

Voldo in SCIV had unique mask-thingies.

That is why I used Team Battle as an example, it is a cheap mode to be made since it doesn't use anything but existing assets.

Just remember that SCV mimics were also majorly past models, in fact I'm of the opinion Pyrrha Omega was a story mode only character at first and Elysium was meant to have that movelist. Alpha Pat, Pyrrha Omega and Kilik all look as last minute as it gets, no 2Ps is a big red flag.
