Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

- So they still haven't decided what characters they'll put in the Season Pass, well... SETSUKA PLEEEEASE
- There are chances they'll add character from 4 and even 5, very interesting.

K. : Will there be a Music Box like in Tekken 7, where you can select the music from previous SC to the stage you want.

M.O. : There will be some features to let you select BGM, but I can’t talk about the final details on that. It’s still in discussions and I have to check with the staff.

Translation: We are discussing if we'll put them as DLC or not.

K. : I see *smiles* Will there be a new female character ?

*silence*

MMMmmmmmm

K : Oh, will he ? So he’s actually a new character !

M.O. : *silence and laughter*

PS: I think it's safe to say yes at this point?

Pretty cool interview overall.

PS: Okubo actually just said that Illuminati dude want to save the world, doesn't necessarily mean he's good or evil.

I don't know how you can already decide how many characters you want the Season Pass to be and announce it, yet not know who the characters will be lol. Think he's being coy with her, unless they have more characters available than slots and are looking at fan demands. If that's the case, then people should be hollering at them constantly for who they want.

He mentions that another guest character in the DLC is a maybe because they are still in talks.

This indicates that the guest character he has in mind is with a different company, because if it were a Bamco character, they wouldn't need to negotiate, right?

Many great villains thought of themselves as good guys throughout history.
Also not uncommon for it to be difficult to discern who is the true villain of some stories, and whether or not the decisions made were right or necessary. Always an interesting thing to see.

That aside, I have to say I definitely prefer Kayane's interviews over other game journalists as of this interview, if not prior. Albeit thanks to the trailers and all, but at least she asked things we haven't heard answered or discussed a lot, thankfully. That was at least an interesting read. Far as what I take from it, I think it's safe to say we should be happy so many asked for Tira at all, other-wise we'd miss out on what I feel is one of the most interesting and unique characters in the series as well as the amazing new design she has. The fact he went to the team about it in response to the community also further shows he cares about and/or is attentive to the community which is nice.

The mage being playable is definitely good to hear, as I always feel it's kind of a waste if you have a character in a fighter that can't be played, unless we're talking about ridiculous things like Night Terror or Tekken's Azazel and that giant robot thing from 6 if I recall correctly. I guess the only questions for him now are his name, purpose, how he actually plays, and if his style can or can't be used by CaS users. I take this to indirectly add a higher potential to Inferno being playable among other factors as our one and only mimic of the game.

The music selection options being confirmed to be a thing in some way is nice. The fact they're considering free DLC down the road is always a good thing to hear, even if it doesn't happen. The intention is there at least, by the seems of that. Key thing to note in that interview that grips my attention though is his response to the mage from that trailer having been seen. No way to know since this isn't a video interview, but it begs the question of whether or not he knew he was in the trailer in advance, and to me seems to imply he may not have intended for us to see that character yet. I doubt it, but if so, that could lend to the possibility that Cervantes' style and the online lobby menus that were shown actually were accidents instead of intentional teases. Just a thought.

Regardless, I still feel like any who are worried, albeit justifiably in some cases, should relax and see how things go. I'm still pretty confident in the optimism that this game is gonna be the best in the series from the way things are looking, and I love what we've been seeing, especially now that it looks like the real flow of info is starting instead of purely character reveals like before.

Had to block this site and GameFAQs from my phone because of how tense the community got about Tira and the alt costumes. While I am admittedly disappointing and trying to convince myself that the lack of Yun and Raph hairstyles might mean their inclusion while Setsuka and Cassie hairstyles being present are concerning for them, the story modes seem like a way to make up.

It's just that I suck at multiplayer which is why I'm such a content w____.

CaS being samey is kind of a relief. We could have lost stuff after that being the saving grace of V but we didn't.

His answer is confusing... We've already seen previous 1P/2P costume pieces in CAS!

K. : So like in Tekken 7 we would have access to other styles of costumes with the customization mode ?

M.O. : Well we don’t have the older costumes from the series, but I think you’ll be able to create something similar in this mode.

K. : I see. So… Can we expect characters from Soul Calibur V, or characters like Setsuka who don’t fit into Soul Calibur VI’s story to be included in the Season Pass like Tira ?

M.O. : Maybe the Season Pass will come with a guest character ? Maybe. We don’t know who.

What is this answer !! Da FAKK he didn't even answer the question LOL

Okubo wants to keep people guessing till X character is revealed. He can't simple answer with yes or no because of spoilers. Remember when Kayane asked about Siegfried when people saw Nightmare get armor broken. I think Namco knows Cervantes is going to be revealed soon because they didn't care that his style was leaked in IGN's interview yesterday along with some online features like 8 player lobbies as the Amazon listing said.

Honestly I think at most they'll transfer costumes from SC4 and SC5 to SC6.

I'm very curious about "battle comments" and what thats about

so Wizard dude is playable?? nice.

hope that means his style is available to CAS characters. I've love to make a mage type character. And if the Wizard's "super" ( or whatever they call it in this game ) is that multi sword summon we say in the Libra trailer, that would be sick.

also, as an aside, what type of bird is in the 8 Way Run logo? Is it a Raven or Crow?

if so, is there any reason why that was used for this site's logo?

just curious as I'm a relative newcomer to this site and I've been curious.

I was all excited to be able to make CaS wizards now then you went and said that, then I remembered Algol's dumb ass and now I'm really effing nervous.

We all have to start somewhere. SCV is the first one where I took the gameplay seriously (played II and III only casually) and I was also bad at first. Lack of any match-up and frame knowledge, had trouble reacting to lows etc. But I enjoyed the competition nonetheless and had the drive to improve myself. Now I'm able to compete at a high level. Maybe this will encourage you to try playing competitively as well. It is a fighting game, after all. You might be able to enjoy the game even more than you do now. As long as you're willing to put in some effort to really learn the mechanics.

By the way, Raphael's hair is available for custom characters in SCV and he is still playable so it doesn't mean anything.
