Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Lei isn't that popular when looking at the cast of Tekken and he won't be when he drops next week.

It kinda doesn't matter. If it's a classic character no one has seen in a while, people are gonna want them.

I didn't think of the possibility that the 2D scenes wouldn't be voiced D: I really hope they are :/
They did say the total amount of text in the is equivalent to what you'd see in a typical RPG. If a substantial amount of text appears during these sequences, then I'm curious if they'd actually voice all of that.

Yeah but Lei's a different story. Everyone who plays Tekken knows who he is because he's been in every game since Tekken 2. The same can't be said for Hwang or Li Long because they haven't been in the series since SC3 and neither were in SC2 (arguably the most popular SC game so far)

If these are part of the characters' arcade story mode and not the main one then I wouldn't mind them not being voiced tbh. I'd be happy with just a killer soundtrack

So far the response from people who've had the pleasure of being able to play the early builds of the game have been very positive overall. I think that the production and development team will outweigh the missteps of the people in charge of marketing their hard work. Dispite these bad practices if the game is good people will know about it right away through social media when it releases. Hopefully the response stays positive to help sway back the people who are still currently lashing out. The potential is definitely there, they just need to play these next two months very smart.
I agree.

Given the text count Okubo mentioned, I would really hope that most of it is voice acted. If I have to read that much text I can already foresee myself falling asleep a lot in chronicle of souls and waking up to my controller vibrating mid battle because I was pressing buttons in my sleep. I know myself too well.

I mean I expect the bulk of that text to be in Libra of Souls; I'd hope the main story is fully voiced. Even SCV's half baked storyboarded art was voiced.

Isn't the main story supposed to be animated cutscenes? I guess it's hard to tell based on what we've seen so far, but I assumed it was like this:
  • Main story is told via animated cutscenes. I assume this is all voiced
  • Character stories are told via 2D illustrated cutscenes (mainly with character portraits talking to each other). I imagine this is not necessarily voiced.
  • Based on the Libra assets it looks like it's a combination of the above.

Setsuka's 2143 aB is back. =D
Hilde and Setsuka in only one character? That's my boy ❤

Can we stop linking Azwel's trailers already? D: Like 50 of em by now.
One does not just stop the azwel trailers.

Speaking of armies, where's Maximillian Dood's reaction to Azwel? He has one for all the other characters :v
If this max dood saw it live or on stream (catching him unawares) he probably has seen it already and it wouldn't be much of a reaction.
