Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I saw the video, but was there a tournament scheduled at the event or anything like that? If so I'm wondering if there is any footage of the build they were supposed to be using after the fact. You'd think if there was an event like this fans would have captured some gameplay like they have at all the other events or at least the host would have uploaded a stream or something. What's the point of having an event if there's no coverage? Kind of defeats the purpose.

Also I find it a bit weird that he says "Character creation is unlocked but we aren't aloud to use it." Considering they weren't technically aloud to be playing that build at all.

I don't know all the rules and regulations of copyrights and all that jazz but technically speaking would Bandai Namco even have the right to have these videos and images taken down the way they did if they didn't technically own the footage itself? Or is that a thing? Just seems odd that all of those things were taken down so quickly and yet nothing has really been done about these playing cards which conveniently enough feature the same two fighters that were leaked. What's more is that after doing a bit of digging I found out that these cards are a pre-order bonus when you pre-order from eb games in... 🥁*drum roll*🥁 Australia! Imagine that.

Whatever the case, I'd be very surprised if they had nothing more to show us at TGS. This is basically the last hurrah before the game launches. I think they've got a good surprise in store for us.
You are taking the whole thing too literally, like the bible. Can I ask what age group you are just out of curiosity and whether you've worked full-time in an office environment before? Namco simply knocked up a new build (probably based on the full version) but messed around with the move lists. They then got some guys with an Australian accent (based in the UK I guess) to make a quick Raph-Cervantes video that pretends to be based at an event in Melbourne where lot's more character/player match-ups are scheduled throughout the day - despite there already being 2 other genuine events overlapping in the States. They then upload their video on Youtube and have it taken down soon after, to create hype, without Namco even making an official statement on it (adds to the mystique). It's then claimed that Namco sent Melbourne the wrong build! Now, if that's not suspicious enough - not to mention the player being quite good with Cervantes - you then have the commentator mocking us in a satirical tone about:
*Commentary itself, i.e. eSpots commentary and how they will not be "screaming in our ears"
*CEs generating hype and finishing a round/match with hype
*A verbal "sad face" after claiming they've been given a CAS feature that they are now allowed to use = more BS
*3 guys with silly names that end in Y: "Darcy", "Borgy", i.e. Boogeyman, and "Woody".
*Addressed only to 8WayRun

By sheer suspicion alone it's obvious that a game is being played here, but to add insult to injury their nicknames are based on rhyming cartoon characters, such as Woody the Woodpecker! And this exists in a larger context: with other suspicious character reveals purported to be leaked prior (i.e. Taki) as well as biased playing cards that deliberately paint a picture of a restricted roster, so that there is more hype when the full roster is finally revealed. Knowing about human behaviour, psychology, i.e. what kind of mind games people play and why they do it, also helps to detect deception. The ultimate experience, however, comes from knowing how history, the ruling class, and the media works. The more knowledge and experience you have, the less chance you will allow the wool to be pulled over your eyes.

What I don't understand is why SoulCalibur gets the short end of the stick when it has potential to generate as much money for Bandai Namco as Tekken. There were times when SoulCalibur did as well if not better than its Tekken contemporary.

Soul Edge = Tekken
Soul Edge = Tekken 2
SoulCalibur > Tekken 3
SoulCalibur > Tekken Tag Tournament
SoulCalibur II > Tekken 4
SoulCalibur III < Tekken 5
SoulCalibur IV > Tekken 6
SoulCalibur V < Tekken Tag Tournament 2
SoulCalibur VI ? Tekken 7

Although Tekken 3 is one of my all time favorite game and was what got me into fighting games to begin with, I do have to admit that it lost to the original SoulCalibur in terms of innovation and critic scores. Marketing and promotion for SoulCalibur VI is honestly really bad and is paced really poorly compared to Tekken 7. I think when promoted right and given enough budget, SoulCalibur can do just as well or even better than Tekken.

P.S.
I bet that if both Tekken 7 and SoulCalibur VI are ported to the Nintendo Switch, SoulCalibur VI will sell a lot more than Tekken 7 the moment they slap in Link at the cover of SoulCalibur VI lol.

I'm not saying that it's fair that SC has become the dark horse that it currently is, but that's what it do.

However, not including arcade machines, the Tekken franchise has moved more than quadruple what Soul Calibur has. To say that Bamco's ire towards the franchise is without reason would be insanity.

Basically at this point if Hwang and Lizardman indeed end up being in the base roster, you'll have a justification to laugh and tell everyone you called Namco's bluff, but if they are not, you'll have to publicly burn a tinfoil hat in front of everyone instead Kappa.

I wonder what gives Tira more preference to have an appearance in this game than Setsuka.

Easy to figure out. Way more popular and recognised and has way more of a presence in the lore and storyline of the overall series. And, dare I say it, as a character she has a significantly more interesting personality that lends itself to more possibilities than Setsuka's demeanour.

where do you get your numbers from to make these conclusions?

Judging from Kayane's recent interview with Okubo, I don't think they've even fully decided who the other dlc characters are yet. They'll have the second character decided no doubt but it sounded like they were still considering who's most popular and and were in talks for a second guest but hadn't confirmed anything.

i dont think so, it would backlash again just like Tira did, or it depends how the characters that are DLC are presented.

I really dont think it matters when they are revealed. That just gives people an excuse to use when they make their complaints but instead, they can only say "why is my favorite character DLC"?

Its later in time now, and the majority of the cast has been revealed. Maybe whoever they reveal (such as a guest) is someone that will more appeal to the japanese audience.

Whenever i see stuff like this i feel its impossible to really disect everything that is being said and draw conclusions from it. Understand there is only so much he can say, and it has to be worded in such a way as not to confirm or deny anything. Its possible the character(s) may have been done for a while but they are still discussing certain issues like release timing.

Basically what i picked up from the whole thing is we will probably get a guest but he isnt telling us when or any details. He'll say things that will mislead people in order to not sound like confirmation.
