"Prelude to Madness" is a good tagline, I wonder if we'll see him go vampire at the end of his story mode or something. Or gradually break down over the course of it.

Nah, that doesn't happen until the end of SoulCalibur II, so I think it's just telling us the story before he learns of Soul Edge which sets him on the path of madness. As far as Amy is concerned, we'll probably see the little girl from the opening of SoulCalibur II, would be more appropriate for the time period. It should be nice, to finally get Amy's origin story. I'm really looking forward to it.

After looking at the trailer for the 8th time, SC6 Raphael really brings out the almost-comically absurd arrogant nobleman trope.

No longer is he the reclusive vampiric baron, nor the tragic ex-host of Nightmare. This doesn't mean he is fully back to (at least how I perceived him) his demeanor in SC2

Part of his SC2 appeal was the fact that he was contemptuous (not necessarily prideful/arrogant) despite having lost his family fortune and social standing, and having to owe his life to some little redheaded orphan girl. Underneath that there was a battle between his parental instincts struggling against his hidden madness

Thats exactly the reason it bothers me. The non-symmetry plus the fact that he'll poke himself in the cheek.

Nice to see Raphael in HQ. He looks great, glasses and all. With TGS only a few days away this reveal bodes well for either Hwang or Lizardman. I'm crossing my fingers for the highly unlikely double reveal trailer like they did with Asteroth and Mina. Dare to dream!

Raphael, born in the lineage of the French Sorel family, has been subject to the emperor's study from childhood, learned medicine, polished sword skills, and survived a bloody political fight.
But a cruel business made many enemies. In the political change triggered by the Evil Seed, the Sorel family, who ran for protection, sells Raphael out to political opponents....
In the refugee slums he is aided by a girl, Amy. Receiving assistance for the first time in his life shook his heart strongly. Raphael vowed to devote his life to Amy.
