Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Probably just the other BATTLE modes since I don't think Namco themselves have ever officially told us about them.
The thing is they had that trailer with BATTLE and ONLINE and MUSEUM in it after the "Coming Soon" gamemode was there. and even after it hasn't changed while characters are being added to the site... I hope it's a soul arena type mode with a bunch of challenges

I would be doing quite the happy dance if the little circles are unlocks instead of DLC (even if one of them is reserved for Tira). But I'm still prepared for the worst at the moment. And Azwel being an unlockable is expected.

As far when I get the game, I'd start in Creation or Training mode with characters I plan to main first, depending on the equipment available. I'd probably do a few preliminary recolors, too. Next would be Soul Chronicle, then Libra, then back to Creation, then online Ranked (I don't know how I'd do this if each character has their own rank), then casual online til the end of time. I might hold off on renewing my Xbox Live if the story modes take a long time or if I don't run out of steam making creations. I already have 150 or so creations planned, so I'll still need 2 files at least. Luckily, realease date is a Friday, so I have all weekend for the grand start. @.@

All very good points, but this whole situation just brings up two questions:
  1. How did they get their hands on this most unusual build? It's never been seen before.
  2. If the final arrangement of the CSS really is that old, then why was it different on the E3 build? I really don't understand why they would show more empty slots than they intended on having day-one, considering an older build already had the small white circles in place.

What about the most important thing, Taki's nipples?

Actually it's everyone's nipples cause you can use Sophie, Ivy with that costume.
It seems that the nipples are safe then, after all I'm sure they wouldn't want the ensuing online nipple rage if the final game came out with them missing.

Joking aside, I have to say I do prefer the more realistic shading on this older build. I do like the more anime / figurine like visuals they went for in the end, but I wish they stuck with this older visual style, gives it a darker more interesting edge, more similar to the old engine in sc4/5.
@LostSoul_83 answered this for me hahaha!! And yes, jokes aside, i agree with the aforementioned visuals. But, considering messages that came after this, we might as well be looking on the recent build, albeit a bit more refined i guess.

That LA build also appears to have the updated face of Sophitia that we haven't been able to play yet. She looks way better.

Thinking

what could it be?
It might be that League/World Tournament thing that was in SC3, as @Gabranth mentions (and i hope it is, loved it). As for the battle modes like Tag or Time Attack etc, i think those will fall under the "Battle" option on main menu. If i recall correctly, if you chose Battle, you had the usual VS below it and, there were arrows left and right of the versus which hints at their inclusion. Could be this.

could be cause of region-locking or at least region-preference? idk

I really don't know what this mystery mode could be. I feel like it's just Museum or something else we've already seen and I really don't want to get my hopes up, but it would be incredible if it was a whole new or returning mode. Either way I imagine it's something they will announce pre-release so maybe Thursday we could be in for a treat?

God I can't stop thinking about the game and imagining what I'll do when I get it. It's gonna be a long 13 days...

My plan (in order) will likely be:
- Play Arcade a few times with characters I'm interested in picking up, probably deciding who my mains are in the process.
- Check what's available in CAS at the start, and if it's a lot, remake my OCs from SCV and start making 2Ps and 3Ps for all characters.
- Play all the Soul Chronicles
- Play Libra of Souls: Good Route, then Evil Route.

Then after that it'll mostly be random Arcade runs, continuing to make 2P/3P costumes (assuming I don't do them all in one sitting.... which I probably will).

Oh just saw the new Taki...

I probably should be spending my time doing other things (like figuring out why my PC keeps randomly blue-screening), but I decided to try to dig up old character select screenshots.

And here's my final theory about the mysterious latinoamerica build. I'm convinced it's actually older than the E3 build we've seen a billion times.

First character select screen we ever saw back in January:

- Gray-scale character thumbnails.
- No 1P/2P indicators on character selectors.
- Old background.

Character select screen for the E3 build:

- Coloured character thumbnails.
- 1P/2P indicators on the character selectors.
- New background (look at the clouds).

Character select screen from a very recent IGN video:

- Same background as the E3 build.

Character select screen from the Namco latinoamerica stream:

Unless Namco decided to revert a ton of assets last minute, I think it's pretty clear this is a build which was created sometime before the E3 build, but after the build we saw in January.

The defence now rests! I believe it's up to the judge to decide the sentence.
I DECLARE IT, OLD BUILD!!!

Do you wanna know what bugs the hell out of me? It's the fact we still do not have the fourth game mode revealed on the website. They've updated the website with characters, videos, images, and the special area since online, arcade, museum mode, etc were all revealed but the haven't done anything with any of those or anything else yet.

VR MODE!? - wow I’m disappointed in myself for even thinking that, but the saddest thing is I wouldn’t even be surprised Haha!
