Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

It wasnt really about characters' "power levels" or at least not from me anyway. Its about the game play mechanics and how the characters powers are portrayed in the game.

If Cervantes were a guest from a different game, how he plays and what he does would obviously be very different depending on the game he comes from. Bayonetta, DMC and Nier are all similar games in that the combat is similar. If he were the main, playable character in those games, you would expect his abilities to have greater focus on ranged attacks, his flight and teleports. Far less so on any basic sword attacks because from the ground up, he would need to be designed to clear out clusters of enemies in quick succession. So the frequency and rate of his attacks would obviously need to accomodate that. In that case i would suspect GeoDeRay would be the primary means of movement just to move from spot to spot.

With action games that are not like that, in other words has far less opponents to engage at a time, there would be a far greater emphasis placed on basic, single strikes and slashes. Ranged attacks, flight and teleports would be something far less common and probably restricted to something like a meter or limited uses.

These two characters are not the same thing at all. They are entirely different because when someone plays the game, they spend their time doing very different things. One of them can be faithfully ported into Soulcalibur and the other can not. Whether they can or cant be accurately ported depends on the game they are moving to and what kind of combat mechanics it has.

This is a very clear and obvious fact for anyone that cares to give it some thought. Maybe people wont agree that its necessarilly important to faithfully port a character accurately but saying i'm "making shit up" is very stupid. I'm aware you didnt say that, i'm just using this post to address that.

Pro tip to everybody here: Back up your saves before fucking with Cheat Engine.

Tried to get max SP because I was sick of not being able to DL characters from missing a part or two and I ended up corrupting my save and all 30 hours of progress I've made so far. Now, I'm not that upset about it because all I've really done so far was beat the main story and a few characters and make one or two CaS (one of which I wrote down the formula to because i took her from LoS), but losing some of my friends favorite DLd CaS like Shrek and all 3 Pillar Men is a big oof and will really annoy me if i can't find more online.

Also the Character Sharing system is an absolute piece of burning garbage and may as well not exist. Leaving for 2 minutes to buy a CaS part and not being able to find a character again will always be beyond retarded.

Can't get kicked if you play Ranked, I suppose. I really have found Ranked to be better than Casual, just personally. Faster match-ups, and as long as both parties agree and are good sports about it, it has first-to-two already built in, so you can get a good run in, and there's also a lot less downtime.

This series has had Jedi and Sith as guests. Of course science fiction characters shall be "nerfed" from their own universe's power level. We can't have lightsabers melting steel swords. This isn't anything unprecedented. The only question is if they shall be added.

Not to totally defend them, in the SW more, there is a metal which doesn't melt when in contact with lightsabers, and this very metal could be simple steel or iron, reason why the Soul characters didn't fear them ^^

However, it's true that lightsabers were nerfed. Otherwise, imagine the numbers of limbs scattered around the arenas :D

If every fight is going to be 95% impossible to win like the last couple of fights I've attempted, I'm very tempted to just stop playing Libra of Soul altogether. It's been a really fun mode, but if every single fight from now is going to be Uber-Hitler levels of douchebagness, I'm done...
I find that you can kinda balance it out if you get a three-slot weapon and customize it, with at the very least two slots being gain 25% health on Soul Charge and gain 25% health on Critical Edge hit. This way, whenever you spend a bar of meter, you're gaining a sizeable chunk of health.

You will need to finish it and do some postgame in order to unlock Raphael and Zasalamel final chapters in Soul Chronicle, after all.

Are you forgetting to use food for health recovery etc and upgraded weapons? I'm not as far as you yet but Im just wondering

Is it safe to say that SC6 has the best story in the serie? Can't remember a SC game that tells that much about characters and with that much of characters interactions. Honestly i didn't expected that much. I'm thankful to Okubo and his team.

The stories in Chronicles are great but the execution is only serviceable due to the way the flow is constanly broken all the time either through chapters or loading screens from one scene to another. Libra of Souls is dogshit, 95% fan fiction waffle, only the cutscenes are worth a lick of salt.

I would say so, not only Soul Chronicle giving details about each character and showing their actual canon involvement with events, instead of the typical fighting game arcade stories where everyone wins in their own way. This way, the story is much less confusing about what did or did not actually happen, where in the past, we needed the next game to release to confirm what was the real ending. On top of that, I feel like Libra of Soul was a great addition, fleshing out even more side characters, filling some story gaps, and connecting Grøh and Azwel with the rest of the plot, without muddling up Soul Chronicle in order to do so. It is the "hidden history", after all, so it makes sense to be separate, yet still canon. Not even SoulCalibur III did this better.
