Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Sales don't seem very good on Steam you're right. Some players probably wait for black friday and winter sales to get a little discount.
But the big refunds wave, i think it's mostly because of visual novel alternance, 11 not very animated stages, and people who didn't search long enough to remove the blur.

I've 5 steam friends on 70 interested by the game. 1 of them is an absolute fan of Nier Automata and doesn't seem to have noticed the yesterday anouncement (quite ironic that i noticed while i don't care... and he is a fan and doesn't see but what the hell lol !!!). But it's because there are a lot releases too actually, i don't doubt RDR2 is much more a priority to buy than SC6. A second of these 5 yesterday when i informed them about 2B trailer (yes i did that omg) told me that it wouldn't be enough. Quote : "It's going to take more than that to save the game."
As you say, maybe these 5 will buy the GOTY version all DLC included in 1-2 years.

(For info it happened this way when i talked about 2B trailer on general videogames news board : "2B is probably the most dressed character with Geralt" -> "It's going to take more than that to save the game." -> Talk back about RDR2 bye)

I hope for all of us SC6 sold much more on consoles, or that 2B will really boost the sales X2.
Otherwise after this one *couic*

@Alucard what about sf5, im on my phone it's difficult to check
SF5 I'm pretty sure didn't do well because of the shitty launch they had, that thing killed all the hype the game could have had.

...

They got me hype for a character I know almost nothing about, from a game I've never played.

AMAZING.

I don't see an entry for SFV Arcade Edition. There's SFIV, and Ultra SFVI. I wanted to see how this stands

Cuz they are the same.

I feel we would need much more than that to save the game.
A fortnite character. An overwatch character.
(Don't laugh, i've seen people asking for Mercy or Hanzo and i seriously wonder if it would work at that point.)
Or a battle royale mode.

Fornite won't work, people who play Fortnite don't have money for a full priced game AND a DLC Kappa

The 2B reveal is a good thing for the game. Yes most fans would prefer a returning legacy characters but guest characters sell games. The timing is actually perfect because it should boost holiday sales which is when they stand to gain the most. DLC that comes toward the end of the season will probably have less of an effect on the overall game sales. So the way it's set up, there are 2 popular characters(Tira and 2B) that will help sell the season pass aswell as the initial game sales.

And honestly there's no sense in being mad that we got a guest character since we've known forever we were getting another guest character. The way some people react you'd think it wasn't said months ago.

People will always be mad here, you should know it by now.
Plus, you know people were complaining about 2B before she was even announced, you know, with their "BUT MUH IMERSION, a robo wifu in muh game doesn't make any sense it SOOO out of place" in a game with a kid that fights giant doods using wind power, and organic eyes stucked in swords, Magic dood that spawn magic sword out of nowhere and... lizzard giant one too xD

look, if 2B generates more interest in the game from outside the SC community, then I'm all for it.

especially if it means more sales for the game which in turn means greater longevity and support for the game, which in turn means more Season Passes with more characters (old and new) and more CAS parts, stages, etc.

the reality is that roster space for fighting games is finite. not every character is going to make it in and there's always the chance your favorite(s) won't make the roster. Which is why I want this game to do well and have long support so that they'll continue to add more characters to it.

Steam is only one platform, which SC is new to. I wouldn't give Steam sales too much credence right now, especially when the platform is known for its discount sales.

Pretty sure PS has the largest SC community, so I would wait for those sales numbers to get a more accurate picture of how well the game is selling.
I agree with you, but you can still compare numbers with other games on the same platform, and that's the problem cuz the game is doing fine but I would liked if it did better than Tekken just because Harada xD

I absolutely agree with that !
If 2B really generates more sales and i hope it will, then all for the best and let's get a second season pass ! Go 2B, double the sales !

However if game dies after first season pass and it was a wasted slot, you'll be cursed for the definitive absence of *type your favorite classic character here* in the last SoulCalibur episode.

Okay but this is like a half of the sales, if you want more graphs i can get them... @EbrietasSs
Here are all Namco fighting games.
I think it's important to note one thing: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-04-27-things-are-starting-to-look-up-for-steam-spy

Before April this year, steamspy.com was able to reliably use the Steam API to check for ownership data. After a privacy setting update in April, this information became hidden by default on user profiles (you can see an effect of this with Dragon Ball FightersZ in the picture above), this made it a LOT harder for steamspy.com to determine the exact amount of owners.

I'm not sure what method the site uses now (the Eurogamer article suggests they're using some kind of prediction algorithm based on secondary data), but I don't think it's something you can assume is accurate. This is probably why the data is wildly swinging up and down. Maybe they're guessing ownership data based on how many people are actively playing it (which is a number you can reliably get via the Steam API).

Either way, even if current Steam sales are as "low" as 100k, I don't think that's a bad number. Dragon Ball FighterZ got 444k after 6 months and Tekken 7 got 543k sales after 13 months. SC6 has only been out for a week, so let's give it some time.

Same way they are salty over anything else. If someone doesnt like something about the game
-characters, stages, costumes, online features, mechanics etc.
They will complain about it. Just like people complain about SC5 but it is apparently acceptable to do that because more people agree.
Because SCV made changes that were tone deaf to what the audience actually wanted, that's why it's more acceptable.

I would have preferred anyone over 2B.

However. As much as I'd have liked one of the classic characters back, I already paid for the pass and it was one of the highly requested characters. God knows I'm going to give her a try and see if she's fun or not to use. It's absurd to ditch the game or intend a refund or whatever due this.

Be happy for those who got what they wanted, be happy it's a character that's going to attract more costumers. After all not everyone was going to be happy if it turned out to be another char anyways: Some won't care for Amy, some won't for Cass, some won't for Hwang, etc.

Some of my friends will buy the game now that 2B was announced, but at the same time... they will wait for a game of the year edition with all the DLC and a price drop... -_-

Waiting to buy a fighting game for a long time is like asking "fuck my ass up real good the moment i get in to online mode" i suggest for you to tell them to lube up or Get Guud b4 they enter online.

OH now that think about it, maybe 2B won't be customizable, and Square won't agree with her being naked and stuff... so maybe no Armor break on her or won't be as WTF as for everyone else, cuz if so I'm gonna main her xD
Fuck the armor break system and all the naked characters mean seriously, how do you destroy a leather boot ffs xD

Well I know they aren't THAT competitive, they will most likely buy the game for solo content and some 1v1 local matchs xD
