Soulcalibur VI General Roster Speculation Thread

SoulCalibur VI: which 3 characters do you most hope for?

  • A brand new character

  • Amy

  • Cassandra

  • Hilde

  • Hwang/Yunsung and/or Lizardman

  • Rock

  • Setsuka

  • Viola

  • Z.W.E.I.

  • Other: Abyss, Algol, Dampierre, Elysium, Leixia, Li Long, Patroklos, etc.

Cassandra's chances seem ever so slightly more slim, if you believe that each DLC character will come with a stage. She doesn't really have one to offer, as we only see her at home at the shrine in Greece, which we already have a stage for. Hwang, on the other hand, can bring the Seong Dojang, while Amy can bring the training room from Graf Dumas's mansion, since we're sorely lacking indoors stages.

Rock can bring the coliseum, which by far is the best missing stage. Then again, so can Aeon, where the stands are filled with Lizardmen.

I say yun-seong and Cassandra. If there is no season pass 2 that would be my wish. But honestly Cassandra screams season pass 2 for me. Yun can bring the Egyptian stage. Cassandra the burning mansion

We already have an Egyptian stage, though. With as few stages total, we can't really be adding redundancies. Silk Road Ruin would be better, but that also points to Hwang or Lizardman.

I've broken down speculation (at least in my opinion) for what the last DLC could be.

This mostly hedges around my theory that 2B will go in the middle above Geralt on the character select.

Group A) Hwang and Lizardman. (This is seeming more and more unlikely. The leaks about Hwang and Lizardman could have been red herrings. For all we know they were never intended to ever be playable characters)

Group B) Two more guests. (I for one was not expecting 2B this soon. The fact that she gets her own stage, music and essentially is a DLC PACK and not a single character like Tira makes me think Guest characters will add stages just like in Tekken 7.

The logic is that someone like Tira is a standalone DLC for $6 but 2B is a "bundle" for $8. If three guests come with a stage then it's cheaper to get SCVI DLC with the season pass. if you buy only the DLC that you are interested in, or the season pass, Namco wins.

Group C) Amy and Cassandra. Due to their new costumes, this could be a reality. But I feel like they would need to sell at least one male character. I could be wrong though.

Group D) Some other unknown combination. They could be anyone really. Only Okubo and Project Soul knows.

Setsuka or Hilde impossible in season 1 now ? No more chance ?
They don't seem very likely. Setsuka isn't mentioned at all in either story mode, and Hilde is not seen, but only mentioned, in Libra of Soul, but she's too busy queening it up to be on the battlefield, if you ask me. Hwang and Amy are the most conspicuous characters who fight, yet we don't see fighting. So those two seem most likely, for the moment. They appear in both story modes, have encounters, but we don't see them in fighting mode, where they could easily be stand-ins with Mitsurugi/Xianghua and Raphael styles, respectively. It's bizarre.

Well you're right it's obvious for Hilde.
Less for Setsuka, i thought her story could be pasted at the end of timeline.
Anyway i'll just hope for season 2 then.

I still think with this timeline (1583-1590) Bamco did miss something about William and Sanada. (Historically i mean)

William from Nioh sailed to Japan in 1598 and arrived in 1600, not so long after.
And Sanada Nobushige is litteraly the greatest hero of Sengoku Jidai events that Mitsurugi fled. He even appears (as a deity) in Nioh as a William opponent because of that. I mean, it's Sengoku Jidai, litteraly the Japan background context of SoulCalibur and Nobushige existed litteraly at same time (he was there between 1583-1590) and in same world that SoulCalibur events in Japan.

I just mean... If the rest of season pass is really 2 guests and SoulCalibur timeline is really something important. Then they would be a strong choice.

I just read a guy on a board who thinks EdgeMaster is certain because the silhouette at the end of 2B trailer is the same than this image : https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net...emaster.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120104210423

What do you think about please ?
Not gonna happen. It's going to cause a massive PR problem for Bandai Namco if they make Edge Master part of the Season Pass. If anything, he could be added as a separate DLC or as a free DLC update. Bandai Namco has done free updates before and did that for Dragon Ball FighterZ by adding a free stage. Edge Master is a mimic and does not require his own animations, his model can also be taken from SoulCalibur V and be polished up.

Also, those are generic silhouettes by the way.

Too similar to Geralt in looks, needs to somehow be made distinct from Mitsu in gameplay, despite using a katana too. Most probably not happening.

Doubt that they'll add a straight up historical figure to the game.

As you noticed, William from Nioh was inspired by a real sailor who traveled to Japan just after SC6 time. But he has a videogame representation.
In Nioh, William can use different weapons : see the list here at bottom. Not just japanese sword, so Mitsu argument isn't enough.
You feel he looks like Geralt ? Well, maybe you're right and all European look like the same (joke, obviously Geralt and William appear very different in my eyes, i wouldn't confuse them and i doubt you would confuse them too in-game : as a test replace Geralt by William in next Witcher and see what happens ! XD ).
And same for Yukimura Sanada, he existed in real life during SC6 events but has a videogame common representation too. (From Koei Samurai Warriors serie)
A player on twitter even posted what he would look like using CAS.

While Sanada is almost unknown in U.S. and Europe, his story was the theme of a full drama by Japan national television NHK. And as posted in link before, he is enough important to be represented as a very hard deity boss in Nioh.

I doubt they will appear too as guests. I just say they would be the most coherent choices based on timeline.
You just can't beat them as a guest based on timeline, simple ! :p

I agree with that, it's just that I don't think that they are at peak popularity to include atm and guest are mostly included to bank on their popularity.
Also, I'm not sure how true it is, but I heard somewhere that there is a law in Japan regarding historical figures that they can only be included in media at least loosely based on historical events or centered around them and/or people involved (like Sengoku Basara, Samurai/Orochi Warriors or Nioh for example), which is why I'm so doubtful about their inclusion too, as while SC's era is pretty fitting, setting and story themself don't have anything to do with those historical figures (which means that they can't be included if that law is actually a thing). Though again, I'm not sure if this law is really a thing or not.

It's actually from Capcom's Sengoku Basara series, here is his Samurai Warriors look.
You feel he looks like Geralt ?
I've seen a lot of people online calling him a "samurai Geralt", so it's really kinda a thing.

They also just added a free Hokage (Character) to Shinobi Strikers

I made a prediction for what we could see for the remaining DLC characters in a paint program. Please note that this is what I'm expecting the two Soulcalibur characters will be, the final result may be different from who I think will make it in the game. Who do you think the two Soulcalibur characters will be? Already know that 2B is the next guest character :) Lastly, the lizard is one of my original creations :3

We already have a thread for this. Also arguably this one. But I think it'll be Hwang and Amy, currently.

And why do you think that and not Cassandra?
To me she feels like she would have more of a chance to get in, especially since she isn't mentioned that much in the base game. like they are keeping stuff intentionally hidden, and they put the other 2 as recurrent NPC just so they can say "there, you got them, are you satisfied enough, good we can go on then, stop bothering us" xD
(Hope you are right, but Amy but I'm never lucky when it comes to games :/)
