Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Sorry, but this is a dumb way to evaluate the merits of a patch.

Many of the strongest characters in the game (I wouldn't say anyone is OP) are strong because of a few key moves or a few extremely effective mix-ups. Instead of just nerfing those moves/mix-ups and making the character garbage, it's a much smarter idea to nerf those moves AND buff some their weaker moves. It can make the character more fun to play while also making them more balanced.

You're attributing an argument to me that I think you will find I never made. Of course balancing requires a mixed approach of buffs to offset nerfs that might otherwise become over-corrections. Frankly, "Duh?" is the only sentiment I can think of in reaction to that commentary. The part of my post you quoted (and indeed, the rest of it) does not in any way conflict with that obvious fact. Though perhaps I should point out that Japanese is not a barrier to me like many (most?) here and therefore I was not just counting up the number of buffs but rather looking at them in context. I'm curious if your opinion on the changes is similarly informed? In any event, clearly the overall effect is what needs to be considered, but if I am to be blunt on the matter, if you think "nobody is really OP" right now, I think you've forfeited the right to have your opinion credited with much insight. There are clear issues that everyone from scrubs to tourney players can (and have) regonized, and which are going largely unaddressed or even exacerbated with the last two balance patches.

To some extent, substantial issues in this area are be expected this early into the game's life (and if you look elsewhere on these forums, you will find that I have said this is actually one of the better balanced games at console launch since the the start of the era when Namco stopped being able to benefit from earlier arcade launches as a testing ground and had to start doing the majority of their balance work for the console version pre-release). The problem is that the last two patches have been questionably beneficial on the whole, particularly with regard to a few powerhouses, with Namco apparently not listening to the feedback of the community, which typically they tend to start factoring in more heavily around this point. And I'll repeat what I said when first weighing into this: I'm usually the last person to make these kinds of complaints, because I give the devs the benefit of the doubt with regard to their expertise and unique perspective and therefor typically adopt a "wait and see" approach wherever feasible. But if you want to tell me that Ivy and Groh are fine as they are, and will be balanced in the right direction in this patch...well, you're entitled to your opinion but let's just say I doubt we're going to find much common ground on this topic.

I'm more hype for the CaS DLC pack than the January patch, honestly. Not because a main got nerfed but because the DLC is set to release some time after the patch.

I'm hoping that we might see a handful of CaS with the v1.11 patch as well, indicating a commitment to slowly augmenting the overall selection through that method as well, in addition to the DLC packs. I think its pretty cool that they did that (even if it was just four items) in v1.10, and it's the kind of little thing that garners customer loyalty, imo.

Really hoping there's some more hairstyles in there. Preferably more long hair options.

That would be nice; extra hair, faces, voices even, would be nice to flesh out the canvas of basic assets we have to work with. But I kind of doubt it: fans are clamouring more for classic gear and I think armor and objects are likely to predominate, with a few textures and such mixed in, since they are fairly easy to produce.

Hair and faces I can see as a possibility, but I doubt we'll get extra voices, given how much more time and money would be required for that. Unless they just bring back the SC4 voices, in which case they at least won't have to record any new dialogue.

Agreed, it's an asset that would cost them more in resources than could possibly be justified for the small amount of appreciation it would receive from fans, who would mostly just as soon have a few extra items.

So, anyone else with PS4 error CE-34878-0 in this game? Offline and online too, takes me out of the game, i lose rank points because it takes as quit.

Sometimes I have to put the game 3 or 4 times to play a single soul chronicle of a character.

That's not a complaint I've heard previously, but I have to say it sounds possible that this is due to a file corruption; have you tried re-downloading? Note that if the file corruption is with a system file as opposed to a game file, the fix would be a little more involved; have you been playing anything else, and if so, have you been dealing with the same error in those games? If the answers are yes and no to those questions respectively, my gut feeling is re-installing SCVI could sort out your woes.

I´ve done so much, remove and install the game again, initialize the console, restore the default settings, now i´m trying a few ideas i found on youtube, for now nothing works.

It happens sometimes in Street Fighter 5 and Tekken 7, but not like in Soul Calibur 6, it´s a nightmare. In complete offline games won´t happen, I recently bought and played Resident Evil 4 and no problem at all.

Hmm, that definetly sounds like a corrupted system file. When you say you intitialized the console, do you mean you reset it after reinstalling the game? Or that you redownloaded the most recent version of the system software? If not the latter, I believe there is a way to do that even if you are up to date on the most recent version. That would be my next step if I were you, as I think the only remianing option would be a factory restore, which would be a huge hassle between making sure everything is backed up, doing the restore. restoring your account, and then patching back up to date. And then its also possible that there is a sector of the hard drive that is corrupted rather than just an isolated file, which would be even more of a hassle. Sorry to hear about your trouble--nothing more frustrating than a corrupted file system, whatever system you are working with!

Thanks, I´ll try, because don´t know what else to do.

My other hope is to be fixed by the next patch, i have a friend that had the same problem with Tekken 7 and told me it solved with a patch.

Just went over the patch notes for sieg. Ab is nerfed hardcore in everyway. 66a+b is useless now because the second hit won't connect on the ground even if they just lay there. So you connect the first hit and are locked into the second attack and you get whiff punished. They seriously ruined one o f his best moves and wasn't anywhere near broken. Seriously, what's the point now. Wtf namco.

Did you find the whole patch notes doc? Where?!

First flapjack now this. These nerfs that keep coming are making the characters unfun to play with. I would not be surprised that the nerf everything I don't like crowd had a play in this.

I read on Twitter that 1(B) for Ivy is a special low now. It's not a mixup if you can stand and block all the options. If this is true, it was a slow low and has a noticeable telegraph. This sounds like that online balance BS. EDIT: Scrubdom will be the downfall of fighting games, especially when devs outright say that they will look at online play when balancing.

The same thing is happening to Sophitia's 1AA become i32 in Patch 1.11.

Just Google 'siegfried 1.11 patch notes'. It came up on someone's twitter
Yeah, been checking on the discord, and it seems everything's there with a reliable translation. I haven't gone through the whole cast yet, but the ones I checked are there.
I wanted to get the entire patch notes to avoid having to.search one by one, but I guess that's gonna have to do in the meantime.
