Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I think the series could use a bard like character.
Flashbacks to Final Fantasy IV when Edward the bard would hide during battle anytime his HP got too low. That fucking guy...

But being serious, I think a bard could be a possibility. I mean, this series has gotten more and more fantastical weapons with each new game; I don't see how a musical instrument would be a stretch at this rate.

I've never played Monster Hunter so I'm not familiar with the example you used, but I do get the concept. It'd be interesting to have a character that incorporates music/musical instruments into their attacks and stuff. I'm not sure how exactly this idea would be executed though. Would the musical instrument be used to smack people around or would the music itself be a weapon, or both???

Well if we followed the FLCL example of guitars, they can be blunt instruments, hoverboards, shotguns, and everything inbetween. It’s just dependent on how you’re using them. There’s also Nikki from Chrono Cross, who plays some sweet riffs that rock so hard they deal damage... but also can just smash his guitar across someone’s skull, if needed.

Ah yes, my first main numbered Final Fantasy game. Final Fantasy IV was good stuff.

But yeah, the Hunting Horn in Monster Hunter is a blunt weapon and you use it by bashing it to the skulls of large monsters. I wasn't really looking at it like some kind of fantasy weapon or character when I mentioned bard. I was thinking of a traveling musician that happens to be metal as fuck with a giant blunt instrument lol.

I feel like we'll get another trailer that will also announce the release date. So far we've only seen one new move from each character, as well as Hilde. I think a brand new trailer that shows all new changes to gameplay (such as UB moves being GI-able), all the new alternate version of the stages we have and aesthetic changes like maybe a new character select screen would be proper.

If they plan to keep all of that as a suprise for us when the update actually drops, then there's no need for an event lol. They can simply announce with a tweet.

I'd say there's some kind of announcement being planned, otherwise they wouldn't be teasing one.

BTW do we actually know if the old variations of the stages will stay or is it gonna be just replaced by the new ones? I hope so personally. Seems quite obvious it will stay i think but y'know.

I believe that more/all stages are just going to cycle like a few of them already do, not replacing anything and not existing as separate stages either. Just improvements to what is already there. Though what could be nice is having an option to lock the time of day on a stage as well.

Actually, we’ve seen more than one new upcoming move from a small handful of characters already in the first S2 trailer. Voldo, Kilik, Mitsurugi, and Taki to be more specific.

Some game company I won't name cough Arenanet cough rented a BLOODY THEATRE and hyped the hell out of people for a 30-minute speech telling people that the story will continue as planned... and some extra time trying to sell leggings.

Never underestimate companies when it comes to hyping a fart.

Oh boy, that sounds like it was fun. I bet the fans loved that. /s

I don't think we'll get screwed over that bad, but I'll still try to tamper my expectations a little bit just in case something like the aforementioned situation happens. I'm not expecting a huge announcement anyways lol
