Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

STOP THE PRESSES!!! Konami Trademarks Bloody Roar

Konami owns the IP ;-(
Are you ready for the new Bloody Roar pachinko experience Kappa?!

Bloody Roar was so much fun back in the Ps1 days. I would love for it to come back but i'm not getting my hopes up. Especially not after what happened in 2011 lol. But hey, if it does return, Z.W.E.I. would make a pretty cool guest huh? :sc5zwe1:

Well, let's get a few things clear and disentangled here: 1) No, there isn't any particularly insurmountable technical reason why Algol's style could not be made available in CaS; it may look a little more awkward than most weapons/styles do, but no more or less so than it does on Algol as the default character. 2) There is absolutely no reason why PS couldn't include Algol as DLC and yet not include his style as a CaS option; that is completely at their discretion. 3) Nevertheless, Algol is not at all likely in either Season 2 or a hypothetical Season 3, but for reasons that have nothing to do with technical limitations.

I think to partially resolve the problem with Algol when it comes down to CAS, would be to lock down his height im sorry if you want a midget Algol but that would fuck shit up so yeah those are my 2 cents on that.

Algol is a sadist though, him sitting on his throne in his underwear while crushing his foe is a clear sign of a sick sick man
Sure, Algol's actual character is very domineering; in fact, it's the chief character trait expressed in his narrative and presentation. But in the context of your specific sentence ("Yes but not everyone inserts sharp mystical blades inside their bodies like the sadist that Algol is.") it would definitely seem as if 'masochist' is the contextually appropriate word.

Would anyone be against Algol coming back with wave swords as his primary weapon and a more human form in general?
Well, I would say "against" would probably too strong a word in my case, but I don't think it's the type of thing that would ever happen, and (meaning no disrespect to Assassinate) I never really understand why people propose giving an existing character a new moveset: PS has never done it (other than to fork two very similar characters down different paths slowly, as with Siegfried/Nightmare or Hwang/Xiangua), and it would confuse the character's identity thematically/their appeal as regards mechanics. And I can't see what is gained from it--they can always create a new character for a new style, and in the case of the wave sword, they already have one--and it's actually one of the more distinct and re-usable of the bonus character personalities.

More particular to this case, I don't find the wave sword particularly fits well with Algol as a stylistic matter, and beyond that, I think it's actually one of the weaker, and less clean, natural, and effective-looking of the SCIII pseudo styles. I'd be much more for a return of grieve edge--though in that case, I could see the argument for creating a new character design, since I think Valeria (like all the SCIII shopkeepers) is just a little too kitschy and kawaii for a full roster character in a contemporary SC game. Then again, we're talking about a team that has made a playable panda that we've all been willing to swallow...
