Rusted Blade
[14] Master
Does anyone feel like breaking out of grabs is made way easier in this game (compared to 5)? I felt like breaking out of them in 5 was a tough thing to do, and usually you needed to read them, where in this game offline I can almost always react and break the grab in time.
Yeah, there's actually been a three-game downward arc for the viability of throws; they were still a pretty effective part of the toolbox in SCIV, especially relative to that game's speed and timing windows generally, got a little nerfed in SCV (but still remained a contextual useful class of moves), but then got virtually removed from the realm of usefulness in high level play between where they started in SCVI and have landed in subsequent patches. It's honestly one of my biggest gripes with the current balance of the game; grabs are traditionally a major component in SoulCalibur's rock-paper-scissors dimensions, but they are essentially a non-factor at present--or worse, for those of us who are veterans of the franchise but have not been able to put in huge amounts of dedicated play to this most recent game, old instincts die hard and throws become a major source of liability. They increased the grab break window on all throws in version 1.30 except on unbreakable throws and Ivy’s Calamity Symphony. So yes, it is generally easier to get out of grabs compared to previous games.
Homie, you keep making this assertion as if it was a fait accompli, but next month would be incredibly ahead of the established timetable for every DLC character release for this game to date--even if we were talking about normal circumstances where production was not proceeded at a fraction of it's normal rate. It's pretty unlikely that we would see a new character even teased next month, and the chances of it happening in April are effectively zero.Setsuka?
This month or next month tops.
It's one thing to hope against hope for something, but when you suggest we're certain to see someone next month, someone may take your confidence as an indicator of veracity and get their hopes up, and then feel let down and that much more aggravated by the long wait for a confirmation on who is next (which is already an annoying factor regarding how Namco has chosen to promote this game's post-release content). And that's just not good for the moral of the community or the ultimate reception for that content, especially considering current circumstances may push the release back significantly. So let's try to be realistic about what we put out there! Unless you have a compelling theory to offer for why you think the reveal and release of the next character would be so much accelerated over previous characters, at this of all times?
