Yeah I can only imagine the wrath of irrationality.
Those Cervy players need to think about why it is that roughly almost any competent tier list all gravitate towards the same top people but just in different placings before they argue Cervy being up there with no grounds.

I actually totally agree with this list. Though the amount of skill to play setsuka at a top tier level is something most people can't do. But once you see a very exceptional setsuka player's vid like CheeseoftheDay, you can see how awesome she is.

Or.....it could be as always, ignorance. The SC community has never been the brightest. SC2 pre-nats had Cervantes as low tier. After Nats, nobody was dumb enough to say that anymore. Most people posting in this thread have not played a good Cervantes and are SO convinced he's nowhere near top. Hilarious, honestly.
Just like in the past, people don't know how to use him, and that's ok. It will be fun to prove you all wrong. Hopefully I see some of you theory fighters at Nationals, in the meantime, have it at;)

Its possible as their is always room for error. I'm open to that. Though even if you beat down a couple soul's at nats or whatever it still does not mean that he is top. Some people just may simply be good enough to win with a character that while may not be top can simply compete with the top.

Cervy is without a doubt top tier. he doesnt have the same cheese as hilde and algol but he does have straight beat down. I bet JOP would beat anyone on 8wr (and i do mean anyone to a first to ten with cervy.) and i guarantee it would be even worse if he played algol. anyways no need to believe me everyone thats played him so far will say the same thing. he hates soul calibur and fighting games in general now so you wont see him at any tournies fortunately or unfortunately depends on how you see it. but that scrub eddypistons has a nice cervy and will probably show it at nats.

Yeah, I played JOP Cervy/Cervy 2 weeks ago (I drove up to Dallas) and he beat me 11-4. That's not even the beating I got when he played Algol/Vader/Apprentice. But you're speaking on deaf ears. Most people in this room have never seen what Cervantes can do at a high level so don't bother. They would rather stick to paper fighter and be convinced he's upper mid haha. Hey, when people lose to it, whatever they need to tell themselves is fine I guess.

The limit of my "High level" Cervy experience, is seeing the abuse that CF does to the other HK people on youtube, and matching up against Hates. The second wasn't that accurate because I accidentally trashed talked him (It's a habit) and his response scared me shitless. That said, he is a bloody good cervy player.
Even then, I don't think cervy has all the tools necessary to be "top tier". Safety and ease of execution is always going to be a factor there, and Cervy's stuff isn't that safe, and although most people who play him top tier can do the stuff 90% of the time, it's that 10% that will kill you.

JOP is a proven TTT player. He was nationally known and beat great japanese and korean players. He's always been super solid at games. He's not somebody who isn't good and just locks himself up home, he's an excellent player who usually has more wins than the person he plays.
But yeah, there are MANY people out there who don't realize the potential of Cervantes, and instead of the SC community being open minded (which they never have been) they will wait until a Cervantes does well at Nationals/EVO to be proven wrong, yet again. The process gets kind of old and boring after a while.
And these people making tier lists left and right, besides Oofmatic, have they done ANYTHING in tournaments? Lots of keyboard commandos it seems like, cause I don't see many good players posting in this thread anymore.

I could care less for tier lists. I'd rather spend time looking into each character's individual strengths and weaknesses in order to better learn how to fight them instead of doing it just to compare them to each other and line them up in a pretty list.
Cervy is really good. Lets leave it at that. How he compares to other characters doesn't matter unless you're discussing anti-strats for or against him.
But.. to each their own.
