Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

@Super Devon -- It has been pointed out by @PSY here (and this post really belongs more in that thread anyway, by the way) that the scaling would suggest that there are two more rows on the CaS style selection, meaning there would be 21-24 styles available, which adds credence to the two spots in the main 5x5 section being two more characters, especially when paired with the math of there being 149 weapons (museum shown in the modes trailer), with 7 per character for 21 characters, and 2 leftover, so 1 character would have 2 weapons, and that could be either Geralt or Azwel.

Well when the game comes out we'll know the truth.

Absolutely. Or maybe before then, if TGS shows us more than Raphael.

SC 7 is your best bet... the real question is, CAN we make it to SC 7 (DUN DUN DUN)
SoulCalibur VII seems more like it would tell the stories of the year 1590-1591, SoulCalibur II-IV. There's plenty of content there, so anything leading up to and including SoulCalibur V, if they're going to revisit those events at all, would be SoulCalibur VIII at the earliest, I'd say.

The CaS slot looks to have ordered the characters in a 4x4 layout, looking at the scrollbar's length seems to indicate that it may have 1 more row of characters created, leading to having a total of 20 CaC styles.

The only characters that are NOT in the screenshot above are Groh, Geralt, Azwel, and Zasalamel, and those may be the styles for CaC, unless Azwel isn't one of them

Now onto the leaked character select

If CaC really does have 20 styles, then the remaining 4 slots are probably characters that cannot be used as CaC styles, unless the 2 slots are for DLC, I highly doubt that would be the case however, since Tira is playable day one, I don't think that DLC 3 (being the first post-launch DLC character) would take a slot in the CSS, as they would probably have to be manually added to the character select (kinda like Tekken 7 Season 1)

Also they don't have to reveal every character before release, SC5 did not reveal Alpha Patrokalos, Phyrra Omega, and Elisyum before the game released.

Inferno would probably not be revealed before the game has released, so if TGS reveals Raphael + 1 other character, then 3 would be remained unrevealed until the game releases probably.
Sorry, but there's no way we can infer how that bar moves. Could be 1 row, 2 rows, 5000 rows. We can't show that without seeing it in the middle position if there is one.

I think the "two more rows" idea was gleaned from the size of the bar being shown in this screenshot being compared to other clips that show the menu scroll bar dynamically changing size depending on how many more rows there are in those specific menus. This idea was very well laid out by someone a few pages back (or maybe it's in the CaS thread?).

Either way, I'm mega lazy and don't want to hunt it down. Know that it is there somewhere, though...

To add examples:

First of all, the scroll bar is at 66% size which suggests 2 rows of entries are not being shown. Secondly, we saw this from the IGN Gamescom interview:

That scrollbar has the same length as the style selection menu, and if the faces are the same as in SC5 (which is very possible as all the faces above are from SC5) then there would be 2 more rows.

Sure
But it's the devs game, their work, their art, their story, their vision. Who are we to say what is a problem for them to or not to include? We can not like it, we can think their game is shit, we can think their story is shit, their writing is shit, or their characters are shit... but a problem it is not. The definition of a problem is something unwanted or harmful that needs to be dealt with. If it's not a problem to have an all/majority female cast then it's not a problem to have an all/majority male cast.
Yeah but the dev's idea of a good story isn't always right. Take Potrokolos for example, talk about an unlikeable character. I'm also suspicious of their attempt to remake him with a bit of ZWEI's edge in the form of Groh. Is like they were sitting there thinking, well dammit, no one liked Potrokolos but he's our favorite... people seemed to like ZWEI though... Maybe if we um... combine the two we can kinda get our Potrokolos, oh, oh and then we can make him an like super important character for Libra of Souls so like people can spend all their time with him.

I'll still love Libra of Souls, it has Azwel and he looks cool, plus things to do with my created characters. I just am highly skeptical about Groh, he rubs me the wrong way, and not cause he's male. He feels out of place and reminds me too much of the style of 5's characters.

How dare you insult our edgyboi!
I like him. I think that he is exactly the niche roster lacked.
But I also didn't have problems with Pat (the problem was the story, as a character he is more than okay I think).
You don't go from enjoying slaughtering people gleefully that you believe are cursed against their will to being a hero. Psychopath turned hero just doesn't happen.

Well, story sucked without a doubt, but as a character (at base, without whole AlphaPat and redemption stuff) he is okay. And his moveset is great.
Also psycho very much can become a hero if cornered by a situation into such position (which is pretty much exactly what happened with whole Pyrrha-Nightmare stuff and SC-semi-mindcontrol).

He feels out of place .
I always felt this type of argument was a huge cop out against Groh.

His Costume is not anymore absurd than Maxi's, for example, it is just a garb with light armor on it, which for a assassin is nothing particularly absurd. Tira costume in III was actually her Bird of Passage Uniform tore down and Amy is dressed as a ballerina doll.

Personality wise, he has nothing to do with Z.W.E.I or Patroklos, the first was relaxed, playful and even solidary and the later was angry, self righteous and cocky.

From what we've seem, outside his interactions with Azwel, Groh is collected, cold and melancholic. You don't have to like him, but whenever people say it is because he feels out of place, it sounds like they want a reason to dislike him, rather than have a reason to dislike him.

I didn't like him and Groh rubs me the wrong way. Let's agree to disagree and leave it at that.
