Anti-Character Discussion

I usually just shake as fast as I can. Weather the followups blocking stuff til Cervy's at disadvantage.

yeah thats the only thing i can do. i think i fail because once i shake one off, i think i can get a hit in there instead of blocking but im usually still at a frame disadvantage and i get punished again! I just need more patience i guess

Yeah, you definitely don't want to try to counter attack right after you shake a stun. Just block the after you shake the stun, then sneak a 2A in.

*Good games the last couple of days Marginal. Its fun playing other people that know Maxi well. Hit me up if you want more Mina practice. She is a little whore with her range. People boot me all the time when I pull that crap with her.

The most troublesome thing Cervy has vs Maxi, are his reversals for teleports and A+B or 3A+B? whichever is the mid horizontal swipe. Quite annoying to deal with.

i could use some training as well. I got a tourney tomorrow that i want to be in tip top shape for!! hit me up if you see me!!

Yep. 50+ rounds lets a lot of scenarios play out. I'd been wondering if the 2A was jumpable after a blocked 4BBK. I gotta work on maintaining initiative though. Felt like I spent years blocking with little to show for it.

I'll have to do that. Quazly and Lost Soul on the PSN play a similar game. Between that 4A and 44B evil.... Argh.

Yeah. Try abusing BL/BL=>neutral mix-ups more. I swear thats like 90% of my game these days. Maxi's lock-down game is a lot better than most people think.

I noticed that. Mean since anticipating the BL K started making me duck right into the 4BBK etc.

yep, thats the idea. And when they start trying to interupt after the RO A, let em have BL A for a fat combo. Its beautiful

why for the love of dear god cant i beat that stinking nightmare, everytime i fight one, even repeatedly to learn there parterens i get beat, i try and keep the presure on they stop me with a quick hit and then i get fucked over. i tried to guard and watch, but then from the guarding im out of range, and a few of his lows are rapid as sin online, i tried to GI or parry use PSL to sidestep and counter. i tried everything and that thing just rapes me everytime, hell somtimes it seems a bearly even touch the floor.

the sad thing is i know a bit of nightmare, (very poor play level) so i chose him against nightmare and managed to get close to a kill.

same kinda thing with sigfried and sometimes ivy, those 3 are my worst ones to fight, but nightmare is the worst. right now.

anyone know how to stop a decent nightmare??

Nightmare has quite a few frame traps, so all i can really say is learn where you're opportunities are. Figure out where you can fit a 2A in, then go on the offense. I've never really had a problem on this one.

Uber, thanks ill bare that in mind,

would you mind if i add you i would like to see your maxi technic and learn from it. i do ok but i feel i still have much to play with.

and anyone is welcome to add me too, im in uk but normaly my connection is ok.

yeah, add me. I'm always down for some good matches.

And about your Ivy and Sieg problem (prolly nighty too), I bet your problem is that you keep trying to attack from a distance. When you face long range characters, often times your best way in is to just walk your way in and block. If you try to get that hit as you are trying to get, you will get spaced and punished. Just block their attack, then go on the offense when you know they can't backstep away.

Well, one tip for Nightmare is just blocking A LOT until the right opportunity opens up. I love fighting Nightmare (with any character) because I don't ever have to worry about being CF-ed because he's just so damn horrible at it.

Basically, Nighmare has A LOT of frame traps and tech traps that you have to realise are happening before you can stop him. If you keep getting hit by a specific set of moves by him no matter what you do, then it's probably a trap of some sort and you're falling into it.

Just be patient, block a lot more than you're used to (his lows aren't too hard to see on reaction), and experiment on when you can interrupt with 2A's or even 6B,B,B (stop at the second hit unless you hit it on Counter because the last hit is crazy unsafe).

2A shuts down GS. Nightmare's not much a threat with that taken away.

for me siegfried is a werid character to be matched up with. One day hes no big deal, i can whoop on him all day long. But there are more days when I have trouble see his lows coming (which there are many) That stupid kick where he runs up to you and low kicks you and it stuns so a follow up is almost guaranteed. Doesnt seem to matter if i step right or left, he doesnt seem to be side efficient like raph. I just dont have a good strat agaisnt him that i can say i use all the time. one day his lows are unpredictable the next day hes no big deal. WTF??

Hmm that low is hard to see, so it would have to take a level of anticipation to beat it. What you can do however is 2A him out any stance transition he tries that way you're not forced to guessing what he's gonna do. Whichever option he does, make sure you punish him on block. The Mid from the stance is punishable as well as the low from the stance.

I may have to get the 6A+B thread updated with Siegfried's information.
