Astaroth and Viola Announced at TGS

Tokyo Game Show started today (half a day ago, due to timezones) and already a metric ton of information has been released about various fighting games for the upcoming year. Soul Calibur V is of course no exception with Famitsu getting the details on two new confirmed characters!

The first revealed character is a returning favorite... Astaroth; who if my math is correct, is now 23 years old. The second new character is "Viola"; who attacks with disembodied jewels, very similar to Z.W.E.I. She is working with Z.W.E.I. to accomplish something or another.

Yeah right. No reason to think this woman who is called Viola but lost her memory who has a outfit just like Amy, hairstyle like Amy, Eyes and face like Amy, maybe could BE Amy...

...and JayCee is not Julia Chang she just stole Julia's necklace.

Sorry Hair? No. Eyes and Face? could be a model of taki, sung, or any other female in SC. But those who love Amy i guess could make anything out of nothing.

 

It's difficult to convince myself that Viola is not Amy. I just watched the TGS trailer, and the way Viola moves/talks looks/sounds very Amy-esque.

 

Okay, so....

-Viola and Amy have same/similar faces and skin types
-both have reddish/vampire-like/not-normal eyecolor
-same voice actress
-same 'jcpenny juniors halloween costume' fashion style
-same body type
-same abnormal love for spider webs and roses
-same (loveable) lack of personality
-'Viola' has no memory of her past (i.e. doesn't remember who she was before)....

and that means Amy=/=Viola?? what are you guys smokin...

'their faces look different'? well wouldn't yours after 17 years??
'their fighting styles are different'? you can't learn anything new after 17 years?
'she's with zwei and not ralph'? .......wow, just wow....
'Amy/Viola have different hair'? .....so if I make a blonde Hilde CaS, she's not hilde anymore?

Talk about weak arguments.... :/

I've never seen an instense in a fighting game where a characters Identity was changed. So, with all do respect, I rule that out as an explination.

Have you seen many 'instances' in a fighting game when you could charge yourself right off the stage and lose?

From the character select screen we have seen, there is space for 30. I assume someone at game informer went "Oh! 8 Per row! 4 Rows.... Grab the calculator out... 32!"... didn't even bother to note the clock in the middle of the selection...

Of course, if there are DLC/Random/Guest behind the countdown clock, then Ill appear to be the asshole.

 

So far that makes 15 characters confirmed; at least half the foster. Odd that Nightmare was one of the confirmed, but we saw absolutely no info on him. It's probably going to be a BIG thing. I'm sure of that.

Spoiler: 14 + 17 = 31. SC5 AMY IS A WOMAN.

I like the idea of Amy Sorel as vampire. SC4 makes Raphael look like it but where are they called vampires in SC4? Where are Amy's fangs? Where does she drink blood? Where does SC4 say she's immortal and 14 forever?

Here's a idea: Kilik 'cured' Amy in SC3. Maybe she was cured of soul edge and has no memory of who she was before cure and THAT was how Viola was born.

Unless you work for Namco/Bandai i'm probably just going to wait hear from the horses mouth. Amy is M.I.A for now.

is that where our clothes go when we put them in that donation bin? maybe they air drop in Japan and the girls just grab whatever is in front of them and put it on.

the Zwei argument is VERY valid. This character is linked to Zwei and both are presented as new. In order for this to all be Amy...she would need to:

• Lose her connection to Raph
• Forget her rapier Style
• Forget her fight style
• Gain a connection to Zwei
• Gain new Powers
• Likely lose her vampire powers (what they were i dunno, but it comes up a lot or somethin)
• Learn a new weapon
• Completely become someone that is not anything of Amy in regards to origin, gameplay, and style beyond hair/costume and somehow feel like this is a good idea for Amy fans. "Hi this is Ivy----err Rosalita...she uses hammer, has a rival cousin who's a mummy, and never mind that one gauntlet and thong... " -_______________-

 

For Asty...It looks like you can follow up after the CE....so either it's a combo starter or a set up tool. It's likely not as cut n dry as people are assuming when comparing it to Ivy CE which looks to just be a super throw.
