Astaroth and Viola Announced at TGS

Tokyo Game Show started today (half a day ago, due to timezones) and already a metric ton of information has been released about various fighting games for the upcoming year. Soul Calibur V is of course no exception with Famitsu getting the details on two new confirmed characters!

The first revealed character is a returning favorite... Astaroth; who if my math is correct, is now 23 years old. The second new character is "Viola"; who attacks with disembodied jewels, very similar to Z.W.E.I. She is working with Z.W.E.I. to accomplish something or another.

Now we'll wait for tourneys and random events!

 

*sigh* yup. When's the closest one?

 

The closest tourney is on 24th of September. I hope they'll stream this just like SJ.
As for events... IDK. We'd better ask Daishi when they'll be showing new stuff ^^

Actually the real thing happened in Tokyo at the TGS, as people were able to play the game. That's definitely something big! Ah, I wish I were there! I'd try every character, every stage and listen to every available soundtrack!!! (If I were allowed to play for hours :P)

 

The next event will be a session I organize with streaming and recorded videos the 23th September, there will be 2 Soul Calibur V demo. And around 40 SC players that I invited with Namco will be there to try the game.
Players like Malek (EVO 2009 winner), Scud (WGC 2010 winner), Keev, Saitoh and members of Team France from WGC will be there. So I'm sure there will be nice matches to watch.

Why can't new characters be ... new, like they are suppose to?

Ask that to Namco. They make the 'new' characters all just copies of old characters. Viola looks like Amy, if you deny this you need glasses. If it is not Amy then it's really stupid that they made a 'new' character and totally dressed her up as an old one. Only Zwei is really new.

Second, what makes you think Amy isn't in SC5? Rapier style will be represented by at least one character, that's 50% chance Min. Namco hasn't done releasing half the cast yet, take a deep breath and relax.

Now they have Viola who is a total fashion copy of Amy. If they use Amy for Rapier they got two girls dressed the same, if they use Raphael they only have one.

 

I still think Viola is Amy. The fact that she has amnesia could explain almost everything.
Besides, we made a funeral for her and buried her.

I still kind of believe the Viola = Amy theory, but honestly, we'll have to see. No one can be 100% sure that it's true.

Yeah, Raphael really deserves to return. I kinda wanted them both to return as two rapier users, 'cause really, I hate the idea of Amy replacing Raphael.

Totally! I mean, nothing against Amy. I liked her even as a bonus character in SC3 and I saw there was a lot of hate for SC4 Amy but it was nice to see Raph's foster daughter anyway but for her to replace Raph altogether?!? That's just not right :'(

I know right? I love them both, but Raphael deserves better than what he received in SCIV.

 

Amy: (The Poster). You have the right to complain. Once you cross the line of "I'm not going to buy this game" in your complaining, that is where your post gets deleted. Does Asenka still play? I enjoyed his Cervy in SC2 and on.

 

Asenka plays casually, he's mainly one of the organizer of the World Game Cup, big european tournament in France. And he's a great commentator.

He will be at the session too.
