SEA B is definitely dangerous, but it is possible to step G on reaction if they go into Sway from Prep. The main problem is still the soul damage SEA B causes. Like Tiamat said, you will need to anticipate sometimes, but keep in mind that VE will auto evade verticals and SEA/SEB evades highs.

Definitely something that will require further testing, but I'm feeling that this is a situation similar to X's 44B, there's just no concrete solution to this problem.

that's cause prep is actually pretty solid despite what some people may say. all step problems can be dealt with by raph simply doing SEA B, or delaying his SEA B, or doing prep into throw.

Nightmare can beat Hilde. His step is awesome. Step left and G. After awhile there charges will become predictable enough to parry if you play close attention. I know this matchup real well.

Most good Hilde players will turtle and spam charges cause its safe. Problem is that its very predictable after awhile. Every Hilde seems to have a pattern. If you pay serious attention after the first two rounds and not over attack, you should be able to parry her.
Also, grabing Hilde is the shit. It destroys her charges or she takes 55 damage and monster Oki game. All you have to do is watch out for charge 3a. Cause she can frame trap like crazy, and its the best move in the game.. ( Im sure you've figured this out. )
Watch for her frame traps when your blocking charge moves. Also, don't worry about your Soul gauge, it takes awhile before she can start hurting it. By that time you should know when shes coming with charge 3b and charge 2b.

Imo, don't over attack. Grab, step left, A;Ga, and don't GS too much. Its not as hard as I thought it use to be. She has range issues versus Nighty. When you start to get into between her charges, it throws the opponent off real bad.

Had some more experience playing against X this weekend. The match up is much better than I thought. Step G is awesome against her unless she's going for the AA interrupt, but not many people try to AA after blocking a WS K/11K anyway.

Most Xs are pretty predictable with the 44B usage, so 33B punishes that well. If you do happen to block a 44, a delayed 33B will punish that as well.

About the Hilde match up, I agree with Promiethius. NM probably has a easier time against her than a lot of the rest of the cast. You just need to be really patient and step G to make her whiff her charge B's. Not much you can do about charge A. I still haven't figured out exactly what to do after I step a C3B yet (probably bA6), but thankfully NM's left side throw does good damage and sets up great oki.

BTW make sure you duck the second hit of 3BA and punish with WS B.

Well, here's one I have a lot of trouble with, NM vs. Voldo.

It may be because of my utter lack of knowing how to defend against this dude, but I cannot win with NM against him to save my life. My Yun has a much easier time with him (partially due to Crane being amazing).

Besides general trouble with him, I don't know what to do to punish his stances (not BS, the other 2) Occasionally I can land a 3B for a good launcher, but then I get interupted from that too often, so can I only get a quick poke in?

Not sure what Tiamat said about the matchup vs Voldo, but all you have to do is step left ( Once again ).

Voldo players will use 2A+B ,1k, and A+B ALOT because they are his best front turn moves. If you stop him from going into front turn, then hes kinda fucked because all his moves that go into BT are kinda unsafe when your stepping all his good stuff. Try NOT to let voldo get into BT.

When hes in BT, your in for a horrible match.

i think ill say this, alot of matches with Nightmare just involve stepping. His step is so good that it makes the fights ALOT easier. NOT stepping is what makes Nightmare a hard character to use. Hes still pretty unsafe, but when you make the opponents moves just as bad as Nightmare, lol.... He kinda has the advantage, especially because he has B+k.


If they whiff.... when you B+K....which usually happens. You get NSS k or NSS A+B if they really whiff and you get huge damage and oki from it. I use to think Nightmare sucked. But after realizing that all you need to do is STEP and KNOW what you can punish. I think Nightmare is better than alot of the cast. He just involved alot of time to know the matchups.

Once you have a solid defense with Nightmare, its hard as hell for the opponent to win. Once they get on the ground....its real bad for them, lol.

Yeah there can't ever be enough love for nightmare's step game, though I do wish he had a good i18-mid punisher from step. Sometimes I actually step too much with NM when I should just guard. I can't left step G Sieg's 3B at close range for the life of me, when I actually just block and punish.

that's very true. But sometimes I mess up my step and 2G right in front of a person, definitely not something you'd want to do against Hilde. I do step 2G a lot against Voldo though, it punishes non-BS hard. Oh BTW, I think left step can actually step C2A, so there's really only C3A to worry about.

from my testing nightmare can't step C2A, though if you step right you can dodge C3A (difficult usually)

by the way, my step G vid is postponed indefinently because I can't figure out what is wrong lol. I will tell you that amy's 6BB can be stepped after blocked 11K if you step right, and it was blocked at far range (-4 instead o -5). lizardman at -4 has the same result, only can step right to dodge 6BB

i find it a difficult for NM at long range fights, against kilik, asta and especially Ivy. His long range moves are either super linear or just too slow. Kilik has that annoying WS B to push you back, Asta has 1A, bullrush..etc, Ivy has applications for all ranges.

what is the optimum range for NM in your opinion? especially against Ivy

damn i need to work on baiting, i see alot of matches (korean ones) where the guy backstep just right out of his opponent's strike range and comes back with a 33B, it's awesome, gotta learn those mad skills

here's some Amy junk I've been working on, some new some old:

1K normal hit > B+K > NSS K: the first hit of her BB will miss and second hit will be CH by NSS K. can use from similar situations as well
11K/WS K blocked: cannot step her 6BB and no TC moves can win except 66K or manually crouching into FC 3B or flapjack

agA blocked up close (neutral frames): 11K loses to 6BB, only 66K can win.
amy 1A hits nightmare (amy is -1): 11K can beat 6BB but need precise timing, otherwise use the other TC options. GS A will beat both 6B, BB, and jump moves etc...so maybe use that

to sum up the TC options:
negative frames or neutral: flapjack, FC 3B, 66K
neutral: A+B can work vs 6BB/BB etc
advantage: add 11K and GS A

Step:
use NORMAL STEP not step G, and step right. if you step right you dodge her 3B and 66A+B. 33B should miss you unless you step Ged in which case yo uwill have to block it

use 11K and 33B vs her 44B, as both of these have good range, also track opposite sides

44K on block:
stuff that beats BT B+K: 3K, agA, A
3K sucks on block and is weak, others are high but good on block

Okay since Amy pisses me off just like the rest of you, I am trying to incorporate this move into my asernal.

So far I have been running tests with
66B+K(blocked)22B
66B+K(blocked)B+K
66B+K(blocked)GSA
66B+K(blocked)GI
or
Just 66B+K(blocked) into WS B or WSK or 1K

Yes I play very unsafe,..and risky like.

I think 66B+K into B+K is the best option there, otherwise Amy's 66B will beat WS B, WS K, and 1K. If 66B+K was blocked at close range, 66B can easily beat GS A before the AutoGI window begins, and if blocked at long range a perfect buffer for 66B will still beat GS A's AutoGI. I've never been a big fan of 66B+K over 66B, both of which are pretty easily stepped.
