Dampierre Q&A / General Discussion

yeah, i'm not too surprised. I've already seen a few errors, like Nightmare Side Stance K being mid. I'll just have to start marking up my book with corrections.

Is it written in the guide that if Damp's CE GI sends the opponent off axis (anywhere not in front of him), the CE won't activate?

Yup a Natsu player side stepped and did a jumping B and flipped away in that direction but my CE never came out. I thought it was just a random occurrence.

so i found out that viola's orb is GI-able with his CE! the opponent was trying to keep me away with the orb and i accidentally used my CE....and it worked somehow! i'm not entirely sure what else this means but it has to be something important....i guess.

oh, and the guide says that dampy's grabs and B!E! are mashable. haven't confirmed the grab yet (it's the B+G and FP grabs) but i've gotten B!E! almost everytime with mashing, though it is a little tougher bc you have to mash soooo hard to get it.

just thought i'd throw those tidbits out there.

Is there any trick to Dampierre's beatdown throw? Usually when I complete the throw I take damage, but occasionally I get the complete throw without taking damage? Is it random or is there a trick?

B!E! isn't "mashable" in the conventional sense. It's a series of larger-than-average Just Frames that get smaller as the B!E! goes on. I do mash the beginning, then fall into a rhythm towards the end, but that's just how I do it.

Also, it seems like Dampierre's CE has a set hitbox that the opponent needs to be in to connect. You can land the GI against a number of Astaroth's moves and you'll be left punishable because he'll be too far away for it to trigger.

An interesting thing that I found is that performing a guard break from Dampierre's 99bK guarantees the kick at the end of the move.

Yeah it's great for ring outs but risky because if the GB version doesn't come out it's free damage for opponent since they can interrupt you with something quick before either of the kicks come out.

Do you think there are ways to play a good "safe" Dampierre? 1 out of 2 times I try to punish my opponent with 623B I get killed because Dampierre falls on the ground lol, and yesterday I lost one round because Le Bello hurted himself after a throw...does this happens randomly?

Try to time 623B and A+B near the end of a second on the timer to more consistently keep out of the poker bluff version of the moves; the timing for 623B is pretty lax, but A+B has to be a lot closer to the very end of the second. The same thing applies for all his moves, including grabs, so try and get used to performing certain moves at the end of a second. A+B, 33_99bK, and B+K seem to have smaller windows to get the right outcome, but the rest of his moves seem to be a lot more lax on the timing.
