Defecting SC players

personally i love the cas mode. i still like the original characters (Tira is a fav of mine) but cas gives me the chance to create my own characters or to redo original characters as i would like to see them. in the past it was only possible to change costume colors so it nice to have such an elaborate customization mode. i have spent TONS of hours in cas and i dont regret a second of it XD

but some costumes just suck. why would i want a firefighters outfit? i like the weddingdress though. but i wished there would have been more "warrior" outfits.
 
Well I just explain based on why I think loyal fans would think why CAS ruins SC; I respect the freedom and rights of other players but you got to realize where they are coming from well at least I've tried to.

I personally hate CAS the way it is executed though I hope for drastic improvements for CAS but it also would mean that if CAS gets drastically improved then it may mean the end for the original SC cast.

Nonetheless I don't think it will be a good idea to take CAS away not while I think SC is in need not like other fighting games.
 
yeah i see what you mean about cas characters stealing the spotlight from original characters. but i just always liked creating my own characters XD. i dont think they would ever remove it casuse if it brings in casual players, then they make more money.
 
I don't think there's any chance of CAS resulting in the removal of the original cast. (Note that half the cast was already removed anyway for stupid story reasons). They'll still need a story and the story will need characters. Random cool guy #17 will not be the protagonist for the next game. You should be more concerned that the characters they do give us are not watered down, boring, unlikable copies of the original cast. Oh wait.
 
I think that the problem why the game is in such state is not at all related to CaS, actually I know a lot of gamers that started to play SC because of this mode then they stayed and now are tourney players. CaS is a good extra it helps to have it onboard. The only real problem with the game is Namco treating the series as a bastard son, the reason why there is no patch to fix all the horrendous issues (high damage and whiffs I'm looking at you) is because Namco does not give a F about SC, one of the reason why so many players are not happy with this entrie is because is an incomplete game, rushed by...NAMCO! so long as Namco owns this saga we will continue to have a mediocre game, a release just to sell enough to see some profit, profit that later will be use to make a bigger Tekken game.
 
lol. i have buds on 360 that hate the new cast. ive heard them call the new cast "stupid siblings". and its weird that characters like Astaroth and Yoshimitsu are supposedly new characters but they look and talk the same. i like the Natsu character, but i wish they had left in Taki. and they totally overlooked Bangoo. hes been on the side lines since Soul Blade.

^This! Believe it not I was going to post something similar. But it was way too verbose. Arbitrary deadlines, lack of commercial support, and corporate idiots who don't care about diversity in their products. It's all to feed the Tekken machine. Don't get me wrong, Tekken got me into fighting games. But SC made me never feel the need to play Tekken. And when I do, it seems slow and cumbersome. Even though DOA is supposedly just "TNA" - even it's a better fighter than Tekken.

You are looking at this in a very naive way. We have "the true" SCV in our hands and must of us are wishing for a SSCV but is hardly gonna happen.
 
if this game was originaly going to be SB2, then its not a true sc5. a SSCV wont happen cause theres no presidence for it. Broken Destiny is a game that actually exsists so namco could continue in that diection. Broken Bestiny was kind of a SSCIV.

SB2 or SC5, it's just the name. It would have still been the same game. They thought of naming it SB2 because it's sort of a half-hearted reboot of the series. But I guess there was some weird copyright issue or something.

Soul Blade 2 would have essentially described the new feeling of the series. Something that isn't directly like the past series in all aspects: Gameplay, roster, etc. The only reason Namco called the first series Soul Blade, instead of the actual "Soul Edge" was because of legal issues from some conman who felt that he had ownership of the word "Edge". This may have been how "Soul Calibur" (the sword) existed. To title the game as such and to avoid those legal issues if the sequel was ever called Soul Edge 2.

But from what I hear, this "conman" may or may not have legal ownership of the word anymore. He sued Mirror's Edge though, and that wasn't too long ago.
 
I blame the addictive substance that is Minecraft. Ever since a friend of mine talked me into trying the demo of that, I bought it and play it more than anything else. Also just got Dead or Alive 5. But I still play SC two or three times a week (In context, I played it and IV before it almost every night with my group.. who all now plays Minecraft lol)
