I have to separate every single type of DLC so I can express everything I think. I'll separate them into things that SHOULD or SHOULD NOT happen:
CHARACTERS
- Relevant characters that appear in the story and we know are fighters, but were not relevant enough to be placed in actual fights in the game.
- Old characters being introduced again, maybe even those who had clone movesets or whose movesets were inherited by others, but now being given a new style. Maybe add Hwang even if we have Yun-Seong, or Ashlotte, even if we have Astaroth, but have both of them with new gameplay.
- Premiere skins - Like in Injustice 2, these skins are essentially other characters with the same playstyle, only changing name and voice, a character inside another. A simple way to add multiple characters with the same moveset. As long as its not overused, of course.
- Characters that already appear fighting in the story - If they are in the game and function in fights, either make them playable by default, as unlockables or not at all. Making DLC of in-game content is shitting on players.
- Large number of guests. Guests are fine, but if there are way too much of them, specially as DLC, its incredibly annoying.
COSTUMES AND CAS
- Premiere skins (see third topic of CHARACTERS section)
- Alternate costumes for default characters that don't take slots from CaS mode, they should also include the parts of these costumes for other characters in CaS.
- Costume bundles with specific different themes, maybe even outside SC themes
- Parts of alternate costumes currently in the game for CaS - These should be, at best, unlockable in some way in the game, or unlocked by default for creation. Nobody should pay for parts we already have access to in the game. Again, making DLC of in-game content is shitting on players.
- Bundles with random stuff - If people like a theme, it makes sense for CaS parts to be bundled in themes, but if they are bundled with a "random" theme, they should be free updates or free DLC, because people are more likely to want ONE of these parts.
STORY
- There isn't much to say about this. Side chapters, prologues and epilogues, or even joke/what-if chapters are okay, as long as they take some time and not be just one or two fights. They SHOULD, however, come with something else, like unlockable costumes, CaS parts or even characters.
- Short chapters and chapters that bring only side stories to the game and nothing else in content might as well be added as updates or just "Encyclopedia" pages. They're not worth making DLC of.
