Ivy Online/Lag Tactics

Ring, when I block 214B, or 214B with Setsu the best punishment is a 33B right? maybe if Ivy use it close I could do a FC3A+B?

raph 236B (i20 long range mid) can punish it at ANY distance excluding maybe step, but stepping would risk even more cause it'd become a window of 27-28 frames.....and 236B could get behind ivy leaving her in stance....aside from the fact that i doubt step begins from frame 1....but should test that.
Unfortunately online aside from ppl who cancel or remain in stances, 236B is hard t punish with an i20 i know a list of ppl who abuses that.....

Teleport should even comes in handy lol cause disadvantage does not matter when you TP behind her while in stance....and even if ivy predict well u have plenty of time to block anything b4 any attack comes....

The point is a blocked 214B or B puts ivy in a bad risk/reward situation.....online this is flipped cause you don't have time to react and risk to lose those few precious frames that makes the difference :/

She doesn't get any reward from blocked 214B/B. There are just tricks that can help to avoid the punishment but like I said, it depends on the character. Raph's 236B is one of the best moves in game against Ivy because it can punish WP 6B+K,2_8 at close and mid to far ranges. Same with his 6BB, it can punish easily a lot of her moves contrary to other characters. There are some moves that completely own 214B and this is one (236b) of them. Step in SE is only useful against moves that have limited range which isn't the case with Raphael's 236B :P

@Trace, yea I think 33B is the best punishment. Though you should watch out when you block it at tip range because she can backstep it in SE and whiff-punish you with 5Hit JF for 70+ dmg. FC 3A+b won't work, it's too slow.

it can punish WP 6B+K,2_8 at close and mid to far ranges.
this could be useful...
If only i knew wich of ivy'smove u are referring to and unfortunately i hate ivy so bad (due to onliners) that i don'twant to try to perform her moves....
Any hint to understand visually wich move is that :( ? lol

p.S. if those are 236B followup i know that already ._. but if not then ...

it's the malek spacing move. v frustrating + big SG damage.

she extends her whip in a straight line, then drags it to the left or right

if u can punish it then it reverses the game at long range, now ivy has to fight to get close to you

damn 214B i'm gonna have to find a solid way to deal w/ that w/ X

:O -24 nice to see....its quite difficult the same needs to realign ty nice thing i didn't know

Do u have an idea of how many frames takes to get in line? maybe i can put there a 66B K:K 11B also :Q__ i have to study that thing aside from the fact raph has plenty tools but loses at midrange @__@ cause ivy shut down raph step, and at closerange also due to raw damage.

An offline question, what is the maximum number of negative frames Ivy can escape with 214B. Cuz to me it seems like a lot.

Thread Moved.

If there is already a thread about this in the Ivy SA I apologize, I would have just closed it but there's actual discussion going on.

Feel free to do as you wish here Ivy mods.

^In terms of frames I know it works but I don't know about range... I'l do it later it should be quick, and with X's FC 3B I don't think it would matter even if Ivy didn't go into stance, 214B is very punishable... Voldo gets his FC 3B, Asta gets Bullrush, Yun gets 6B, the only reason why this move is used at all is because of it's stepping property and wall combo potential...

who else can punish 6B+K besides raph? and is it still unsafe if you only do the first part?
Well, it depends. There are many ways to deal with this move. The first is to block it and punish (obvious) but only a few characters can do it.

Amy: 66A+B (only when 6B+K,2_8 is blocked at close range)
Setsuka: 66A and 33B (both only when 6B+K,2_8 is blocked at close range))
Raph: 236B or 66B (close)
Hilde: A lot... C2B,C3B, 66B etc
Kilik: iFC3B
Asta: 66K (close)
Mina: 66B
Ivy: WP 6B, 4A, 6A (all close range)

There might be a few more. However, most of these punishments work when 6B+K,2_8 is blocked at closest range. Some exceptions are Raph, Kilik and Hilde but other than that, the move is completely safe when used at certain range.

Another way to punish it effectively is to get hit by 6B+K and guard 2_8. That way you are much closer to Ivy and pretty much every character can punish her somehow this way, some even for half of life. This is a nice option for some characters (you lose 20dmg but Ivy loses 70-100) A lot of players seem to forget how unsafe this move is on hit.

6B+K alone is -15 on guard , some can punish it (instant umbrella, Sophie 236B etc) but due to pushback it's safe against 80% of the cast imo.
