Ivy Online/Lag Tactics

I really do need to do that. Just a lil shy on the whole blind meet thing.

The only way i really practice with online is testing my plethora of mix ups, fucked up iCS set ups, and just generally learning the animations of enemies. It is time though i see how well i do offline. While I'm sure my offline Ivy will be great I'll have to work on what i can punish now that i can actually take advantage of frame advantage.

214K sweeps area good idea, never thought of the lag tactic till you said 22B in the mix.

Add me please i wanna be shown, it might be that i will get 'Ivy licked' but most cant come close with the predictable combo patterns.. fancy some games?

You're talking to one of the best Ivy players out there...

Interesting.... I'd like to play you sometime.

Your sig baffles me, that combo hardly ever works on me when I play an Ivy that can buffer that decently. Just saying, there's plenty more setups for iCS than that....

Not saying anything IvyFanboy, like I can do it again, but i just last week beat you 4 times in a row with Ivy Mirror matches......

Now now Hajime, lets not jump on the guy lol.

Although, any Ivy player worth his salt HAS to challenge Link at some point IMO. XD

i gotta lag tactic for u...when i got better offline i got better online as well

online ain't perfect, but if you are truly a kick ass offline player you will kick ass online as well (the converse is not true however)

Anti-Turtle Ivy strategy?

So I was playing a turtling Cassandra last night and I just couldn't seem to win. We had a great connection and ti was one of the uber rare moments i actually felt like the player wasn't winning off lag. It was driving me insane, I couldn't come up with a single strategy to keep her off of me.

What do you do when faced with a punishing turtler? I've been doing a lot of push back moves with high SG, but as much as they flash red it just wont snap. SW 6 and CL 214 are absolutely useless in this match it felt like.

Anti-Turtle Ivy strategy?

If I encounter someone turtling, I typically abuse the living hell out of SW 3B. It's devastating to SG, is only ~-4 (according to the frame data), and crushes guard.

If they can't duck throws on reaction, throw several out. Buffer iCS/SS during blockstun to help add to your damage output.

Anti-Turtle Ivy strategy?

Well they tend to stay out of range of most of the good stuff. I was forced to use a lot of mid range safe mid pokes like CL 6B and SW FC 3B

Didn't say i was THE best. But i certainly dominate most people. However very recently I have dawned a very new approach to my Ivy, because I finally did get humbled. Dunno what happened, but recently I have actually been losing NOT on the account of lag and so my Ivy has become a LOT safer and that old combo in my sig is no longer used (SW 6, iCS).

So yeah, take me up in some matches. Kinda glad I got pwned by a few ivy's on here...New Ivy is muuuuuuuch safer. Throw me an invite anytime.

Incidentally, while lag is ALWAYS an issue (and dear god packetloss...how i hate packetloss)...since the change in strategy I don't even abuse the lag tactics...so maybe this thread NEEDS TO BE LOCKED. Since I'm finding safe ivy to be better than lag tactic Ivy (won't stop me from doing the occasional CL A+BA+K, 66A+B on a 4 connection tho :P)

man...
What you really need, is to play OFFLINE (casuals/rbts/tours...whatever)

I can't believe you live in Vegas (the heart of EVO), and you still haven't grasped the opportunity to search and fight some of the best players in the US. I'd give everything just to be able to attend in this years EVO and face the best players...

Do you really think that ANY decent SCIV player gives a shit about winning online? Honestly, do you?

When I first bought this game, I decided to play online to check the lag...
The first day, while I was trying to get used to the delay, my wins/losses was something like this: ~30/~30
After i got used to lag, my wins/losses started to look something like this: ~100+/~30
After seeing how stupidly easy was to win and how stupid this game looked (when played online), i just never played online again...

and since i don't want to cause any misunderstandings:
- I don't say that people should NOT play online
- I don't think this thread is meaningless
- I'm not trying to offend YOU
- but in order to gain the word RESPECT, it takes more than playing online and more than bragging in any forum about your "skills"...

I play online very often. Lag is not a problem to me (however i don't play with less than 4 bar).
I would like to challenge "one of the best ivy" one day if you are ok with that.
My PSN is malek594, but I'm from Europe so I don't know quality of the connection...

I would like to challenge you too DittO_, if you like.
