Maxi Video Thread

Hot Rod i just got to watch the vids with your son and i like his style of play alot. He plays alot like i used to. He plays instinctively rather than all mathmatically. He has a good base. Just add the technical aspects it takes to grind out a round from a blocking ass maxi interrupter and he will be ready. my son is only 2 and my daughter is 4 so i havent started getting serious with them. i just let them A+B eachother to death. My problem is when the time comes i have no patience at the beginner level. How did you get some reason into his game?

Holy crap dude that was a long process. When he was about 2.5 or 3 he started to be able to tell colors apart. So I put a controller in his hand. It took a long time to teach him SC. he started with SCII and when SC4 came out he saw how much fun I had and he wanted in.

It was little steps at a time. First I show him 6A. Then it progressed to 6A RO A. I showed him 2A as an interupter, 3B will launch in the air, hold right trigger and does this cool nunchuck flip that if I hit with a A it will GI.

He learned a lot by watching me and asking questions. Then I show him what he wanted to know. Now hes 10....oh snap he'll be 11 in 2 weeks, and hes beating me down at times.

At this point your kids are to young to understand. Right now, set up training mode give em a couple controllers and just let them have fun beating each other up. LOL I used to have to put in Tony Hawk, every saturday fucking morning at 6am just so he cold do nothing but skate around and do what he wants. His absolute favorite used to be finding the highest place he could (in Tony Hawk or spiderman) and just fall to the ground. And hed do that for hours if I let him.

Im really glad you posted some excellent videos, have'nt had time to watch them all but I noticed lots of whiffs with li b, bl kk. it's easy to air control try going for guaranteed damage 2b+k,b instead. Can you explain to me why you do this move after RO K,K bounce instead of 66b+k? Awsome play from both of you!

*sigh* bad habits are tough to break. I assume youre talking bout how I 4B LOk after RO KK. I dont have a good excuse. online its a 90% chance youll get it, its one of those things that online play teaches you. and im a stubborn old man. Once I get something in my head, its so fuckin hard for me to let it go.

Speaking of LI B, BL KK whiffs.....I thought I was whiffing the BL KK cause I was doing it slightly to soon. I didnt really think it was AC'able. There isnt a time to where its guaranteed? Even if you hit it pretty late?

I for got I posted these here. I would love some input on why Krazyie beats my ass. I think its all in my head. Thanx for the compliment tho. But feel free to watch them all and lemme know what yall think!!

I can clearly see his biggest advantage, he is protecting himself with short step then block, rinse and repeat. You are protecting yourself very little when stepping thats where he punishes you. That is the main thing you can work on. Perhaps also cancel a, b, k 4b+kg basically do some confusing feints to counter his GI strategy.

Funk:
BL KK is combo after LI B if done properly.
As for u lovedoveydave, i will review the vids and tell you why later :)

Ok here goes....and i'm always nice :) is this online or offline though?

1A hit more than it should and of course 3A+K.
You all were playing similarly for the most part, however Krayzie was more aggressive in his decisions while you were more passive. By that I mean when u're on the offensive, after a knockdown you tend to retreat for some reason, and many times you're standing still waiting to block an attack.
BT 2K RCC A+BG is combo, don't squander it ever.
Not enough low poking from both of u to be honest but Krayzie throws more than u. Feel free to abuse 1K and 2KK and your throws.
Whiffed some critical GIs, sometimes a step would've done you better
So in essence you just got outplayed. Nothing too serious. Krayzie is way more experienced.

Krayzie squandered some opportunities as well, eg the RO K2A tech trap -> RCC A+BG is combo. 33A to A+BG is combo or 66A vs tech trap all. Stuff like that needs to always be used, makes no sense mixing anything else.

I think both of you could've used 4B way more though as an initiator.

Wow....that was actually quite pleasant. BTW it was offline of course. I dont post ANY online matches....(anymore)

Krayzie likes to mind fuck you!! It was a pleasure fighting someone of his calibur (no pun intended) and learned a lot that weekend.

I always have troubles with RCC stuff, but never knew bout the BT 2K RCC A+Bg combo. Ima play with that tonight when some other peeps come over for more matches

Thanx Johnny

It's amazing watching how you've progressed as a player :) i'm quite proud. The control and patience is there. The mitsu made some big mistakes but that's ok, you're gameplay is great.

3 things though...
You follow 2A -> 33K too much. Being too predictable with it
Too much 5A-> RO A. ew. 4B needs to be used more
More chipping lows and/or throws. 1K, 2KK, 1A on occassion.

that coming from you means a lot. Thanx man. Really appreciate that.

What really impresses me is my kids maxi skills. Hes learned everything from me (rather thats good or bad) and put a ton of spins of his own in there. After playing him yesterday and studying why Im having so much trouble, Ive figured out that your right. HRJ whores out 4B stuff and it knocks me out of almost everything.

I used to play a shit ton of LI mind games with him, but 4B knocks me out of it. lots of 66B4 games. 4B will knock me out of that to. Ima make a few adjustments including a lot more 4B and more throws.

EDIT: 5A doesnt go into RO. I assume you ment 6A, but lets get our notations correct shall we....DAMN THAT FELT GOOD!!

lol typos don't count :p
You get trouble vs his Maxi, cuz u have Maxi fear. It happens to me in maxi mirrors as well. It's like brain overload. Your son is the real hotrod though..u're still demoted :)

Haha I'll say both. You got ring out a lot :)
Many of the strings he used were steppable or interruptable, but you fear the Maxi he entertaining vids to say the least. 3K in general is good vs Maxi.

you just watched him work a little to much and tried to guess what he was doing instead of stopping what he was doing. he also broke almost all of your grabs, you missed a few ch3b followups, missed some Gi, but maxi mirrors do the same thing to me. its like grinding rocks in my brain.

Yeah he as some really good mind fucks that really got me. I never really messed with UB fakes into (inster favorite move here) always to afraid to get knocked out of it!!
